Radiator Problems of Saturn SL2

Saturn SL2 owners have reported 4 problems related to radiator (under the engine and engine cooling category). The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Radiator problem of the 1999 Saturn SL2

Failure Date: 09/06/2006

: the contact stated the vehicle used up a large amount of radiator fluid. There were no visible leaks on the driveway, however the reservoir had to be refilled every 3 days. The vehicle was taken to a private repair shop, where, upon inspection, there was moisture around the top of the radiator tank, and it was determined that the radiator tank had leaked from the top.

2 Radiator problem of the 1996 Saturn SL2

Failure Date: 02/01/2004

If you would take a look at the driver side of the radiator. Would you believe it's plastic? where this plastic is molded together there is a crease and in every person I have spoke with who has one it split open right down the crease in which causes water and coolant to leak sometimes spray out. This is a defect on the manufactures part and should be redesigned and replaced free of charge, instead they are over looking these problems and saying it's after warranty. Saturn should stand behind the making of their vehicles and admit their mistakes, better yet correct them. This is not the only problem I have found to be wrong with these cars it's just the only one that's a design flaw and only Saturn can make right. Several others I know have gotten new radiators and replaced them and still they break open same place. The temp gauge doesn't show the vehicle running hot and says in the manual that the gauge will default and return to the middle position now you tell me what good that does for telling if your car is running hot. Come on Saturn do something about your mistakes!!!!!!!!.

3 Radiator problem of the 1999 Saturn SL2

Failure Date: 07/14/2002

I purchased my Saturn Sl2 4-door brand new in 1999 with only 10 miles on it. It was a perfect car until it overheated one day. I called the dealership service department and they told me to use only dex-cool in my engine. So I walked and purchased some and went on my way. Since that time my engine continuously gets overheated, I have had to replace the water pump, the radiator cap and now the dealership has told me that I have a cracked radiator head with warped gaskets which will cost too much for me due to my being on disability. My car only has 94,000 miles on it and I have it serviced regularly. I feel that dex-cool or the dealership should be held responsible in fixing my vehicle to no fault of my own.

4 Radiator problem of the 1998 Saturn SL2
