Tire Blowout Problems of Saturn SL2

My new husband and I had just driven over 300 miles the night before on the interstate to our honeymoon destination. The next afternoon, we were traveling on a divided four lane at approximately 50 mph when a tire blew. The tires were relatively new and had little wear. The gentleman at the tire dealership showed us where the tire had just "ruptured" on its on. The tire was made by firestone and was an affinity label. I replaced the damaged tire and the opposite tire on the front (my car is front wheel drive). The remaining two tires on the rear look just like the front tires did, and the salesman recommended we have them checked as well and also recommended they be replaced ASAP. I have heard of other individuals who have had problems with this same tire (after I made my purchase) and was worried. I feel these tires should be recalled by firestone ASAP because they are unsafe.

My tire blew out while driving from long beach, CA. To phoenix, az. Which is about six hours away. About an hour outside of phoenix my tire blew out. I lost control of the car and it went off the road and rolled 2 - 3 times. I experienced minor injuries to my head and other places on my body. I also experienced whiplash that affected my memory and concentration.

Traveling from FL to IA. Tire blew out in northern georgia on interstate 75. Inside of passenger rear tire came apart from rest. Tire in two complete circles. Had to get towed and tire replaced. Very scary situation. Car handled ok. No nails or cause of blowout determined by towing/tire business who replaced tired. I am worried about driving with other tires. Only have 27,000 miles on them. While driving, vehicle began to pull to the right, consumer thought she heard the left front tire blowout, vehicle experienced rollover, firestone affinity, p185/65r15, 2 injuries in accident, claim 75-a352-313.

The front and rear passenger's side tires along with the rear driver's side tire developed rather large blisters on the outside side walls. The front passenger's side tire blew out causing the front end of the car to lift and jerk. Firestone was of no help to us. They were reluctant to and never did admit any fault. We ended up replacing all four tires out of our pockets with another name brand for safety sake. (tiresize: 15 inch)( dot number: tire size: 15 inch ).

I was returning to hamilton, mt from having my car in for it's 24,000 service at the Saturn dealer in spokane, wa. I exited I-90 at the liberty lake exit and, as I was approaching the end of the ramp, my passenger side front tire blew out. My speed was approximately 30mph. I informed Saturn of this by telephone 9/14/00. No vehicle damage was done and a tire dealer was a block away so I purchased a new set of tires (dayton). I was not comfortable with continuing to keep the 3 tires that had not blown out on my vehicle. Ak( dot number: tire size: p195/60r15 ).

Traveling on I-5 so @ approx 72mph left rear tire blew out. Original stock tire on Saturn. Luckily vehicle didn't fishtail or go out of control @ freeway speeds. Saturn dealership referred me to firestone. Firestone claimed no credit towards new tires; replaced all four at this time. Tire had multiple gashes/holes & tread coming apart. Had to drive on rim till got to shoulder 2 lanes over. Don't know if lucky I was in a low profile vehicle so avoided the problems the SUV's have or not? due to long commutes will not purchase this type of tire. Have had better results from other brands. Damage of $120 is only 1/4 cost of complete set of tire replacement of $467. 87 paid. (tiresize: p185/65hr1)( dot number: tire size: p185/65hr1 ).
