1 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2000 Saturn SL2

Failure Date: 08/15/2005

Twice I was stopping the car--once to park and once at a light and instead of stopping the engine revved up at full throttle dragging the car forward even with the brakes pressed fully down. I had to throw the transmission into neutral and cut the engine off to stop it. No reason was ever found.

2 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2002 Saturn SL2

Failure Date: 12/31/2001

While driving it is hard for brakes to stop vehicle. When brakes are applied vehicle continues to accelerate. The engine rpms raced and would not idle down. Driver had has to apply brakes very hard. Dealer replace throttle position sensor.

3 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 1997 Saturn SL2

Failure Date: 07/21/1999

While driving vehicle and approaching an intersection vehicle commenced to accelerate. Consumer had to do some tricky driving to avoid hitting other vehicles. Vehicle was traveling approximately one mile or more before consumer was able to get it under control. Also no brakes were available at that time. Forgot to ask if speed control was engaged. Please respond to that question. . Dealer/ mfr. Were not notified at that time. Can NHTSA help in this matter.

4 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 1997 Saturn SL2

Failure Date: 01/02/1999

Vehicle parked over night. Got in & started vehicle. The throttle opened wide. Had not shifted into gear. The rpms revved up high. Throttle did not shut down after depressing accelerator pedal. Had to turn vehicle off.

5 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 1998 Saturn SL2

Failure Date: 12/30/1997

Throttle: sitting at a stop sign and pulled off and felt like it wasn't getting any gas. Put foot on gas pedal, and suddenly it stuck open and stayed. Had to put in neutral and turn car off and restart.

Failure Date: 03/26/1997

Vehicle hesitates to start at some mornings/continuously revs at 2500 to 3000rpms and accelerates at all speeds without depressing gas pedal.

7 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2000 Saturn SL2

Two different incidents when placing vehicle in park or placing it in reverse rpms raced very high for no apparent reason. Problem was intermittent. Consumer believed that problem was linked to computer. Consumer has contacted the dealer, dealer was unable to determine the cause. Please provide any further details.

When the brake pedal was depressed while coming to a complete stop motor revved, but vehicle failed to stop. This resulted in extended stopping distance.
