9 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 09/30/2014

Hello, I am proud owner of a 2003 Saturn Vue and am the 2nd original owner. This past September when I was doing some work in the yard I had my Vue parked in the driverway. . Next thing I know is that is popped out of gear(parking brake cable had broken prior to this) and it took a "minor" shot on the drivers side. Scratching the fender, turn lights, and bumper cover. The ignition has always been a little weird since I purchased it however, it make more sense know. Until I get it fixed I always keep it in reverse and now had the parking brake fixed. I would ask gm to look at, repair my ignition, as well as fixing the front of the car. It was only going a few miles an hr but this I always took great care of it and now it as that bump on the front. I will be making an appointment at the closest gm dealer to me (which happens to be almost 20miles away) to have that ignition thing fixed ASAP. Thanks for your understand and I look forward to doing business with gm in the future. Thank you. -adam in PA.

Unfortunately he didn't know I had recently purchased this vehicle ( a little over a year ago) and the transmission had been rebuilt. I put on less then 20000 miles on it when this happened.

13 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 05/07/2014

I bought a 2003 Saturn Vue from auto deals located in baltimore, maryland. Approximately 3 weeks later the car begin jerking and pulling. I had my six year old daughter in the vehicle. I notified the establishment on may 7-9 without a return call. I brought my car in on 5/12/2014 and had the owner test drive it. He felt the jerking and pulling. I stated I felt unsafe to drive it. The dealership took my vehicle and I have not seen it since 5/12/2014. I had to find my vehicle at jerry's Chevrolet who gave me an invoice for almost $7000 for the transmission having to be replaced. I had the car less than a month. I can't afford to replace this. I would like some help! I am out of my money and a vehicle. Noone is willing to speak with me. It has been a nightmare!.

16 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 01/17/2014

I took the car to a gm dealer for routine service. Service manager said key was worn down and could be removed while not in park. Said a new key needed to be cut and they charged for it. I told the manager I never had a key wear down, and the key was on a ring with other keys, including an older car, and there were no issues with keys wearing down. Manager said there was nothing he could do about it. Sounds related to the ignition recall, so I'm concerned that the service manager was not even aware of it, and still has not contacted me about the recall. If that is not covering up the ignition issue, it is a good example of poor reporting and tracking of the issue.

18 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 08/19/2013

Was driving one day, and I noticed that it was running different. When I would come to a stop, then press the gas pedal to accelerate. It would take a while to shift into gear. It ran like that the first day. The next day when leaving my home, it wouldn't shift into gear. It finally moved after trying a few times, then stopped again. I took it to a shop to find out the problem. Turns out that it was the transmission.

19 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 07/03/2013

While I was out running errands I was coming up to main intersection on the highway & lost all power. Engine was still running but I had no power at all. It stopped shifting. I was fortunate to be able to pull off the side of road before it came to a complete stop. I was stranded there for an hour before anyone could come get me. I ended up having to have it towed. This is my only means of transportation. I am a single woman in the south with no immediate family in this state. I had no way to get to work for 2 weeks and no income to rent a car. Everything that I have read online, in car forums and on complaint boards say this is a common problem with this vehicle. If so, why hasn't gm had a recall on these transmissions? I had to have a remanufactured transmission installed at a gm dealership that cost me $4200. 00 that I did not have. The vehicle is only worth $3100, at best, at kelly blue book. Is there anything that can be done?.

20 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 06/15/2013

Much regret I ever purchased this Saturn Vue 2003, I left my home yesterday was left stranded in the road as the transmission started felt like skipping and when I had to stop for a vehicle coming in the road it wouldn't drive at all! wouldn't go in gear for the drive or reverse!! so someone called a sheriff. I then called a friend who had to come and push vehicle out of road traffic. This transmission was replaced in 2010 it's as if it was never done! this is my only means of transportation for work so needless to say I am out of work yesterday, and today!!! calling Saturn service at 7:30 am sure they are going to jump right on it (sarcasm). The past month the electrical will blink on and off. Then after a while of driving it goes completely out. Until the next drive then the blinking starts. I hope no one has a young new driver attempting to drive these vehicles. They are by no means safe!!! my 16 year old daughter wouldn't have been able to handle what I went through with this vehicle yesterday. It would have put a young female at risk!!! I do not have thousands of dollars to sink into this vehicle I still owe $7,000 on an undriveable vehicle. I am a homeowner with a mortgage and a single parent that work hours have been cut back drastically at work. I didn't know about the lawsuit until now I now understand why when I went to try and trade this vehicle a few months back to no avail makes sense now why no car dealer wanted this vehicle!!! everything makes sense why no one would trade! I have always been able to trade vehicles until now. This is my last gm vehicle. To say the least. I have no family here to help with my problem so I am certainly open for suggestions should someone have any??? thanks.

21 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 04/27/2013

Saturn notified me that my Saturn Vue vti transmission had a problem and offered to repair it for 1/2 price or give me a credit towards a new car. I decided to have it repaired on 8/17/2011 at a gm dealer. After 20 months and 27,000 miles, the transmission broke again. I spoke with gm, they said that the problem with the vti transmission was never fixed so that means the new one installed was defective. I asked the gm rep to see what they can do and they will not do anything. Why would they replace a defective product with another defective product and then wash their hand of the matter? gm should be held accountable for this fraud. This problem should have been listed as a recall and more information should have been given to the consumer. Especially after "we the people" bailed out gm from bankruptcy. There are 100's of accounts on the internet from Saturn Vue owners who have had the same experience. I would expect the government to look into this and do whats right.

25 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 12/03/2011

My Saturn Vue 2003 experiences serious hestitation in power when traveling over 45 mph. The dangerous sputtering gets harder when I need to drive more than 45 mph such as when I have to travel on parkways or expressways. On December 3, 2011, I entered exit 36 of the grand central parkway and maintained a steady speed of 55 mph in light traffic. As the traffic increased to exit 17, the car began to hestitate and appear to want to come to a stop. It was difficult to maintain a decreased spead of 45 mph to avoid the sputtering and halting. I got into the right lane and exited the parkway as my car jolted then came to a sudden halt. I turned the car off, waited 15 minutes, put my car in drive and it would not drive forward. I put it in reverse and manuevered it into an open space along the curb on 78th avenue. I tried again and only with heavy pressure on the gas pedal was the car able to move forward enough to allow me to straighten into a position to be towed. I called aaa and was towed to a Saturn authorized service provider, northshore Chevrolet of smithtown, where it sits to this day. The brand new 2010 vt1 transmission needs to be replaced.

26 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2011

2003 Saturn Vue. Consumer states problem with vehicle transmission.

27 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 08/26/2011

Purchased this vehicle in August 2010 with 85000 miles on it, one week after buying the vehicle the body control module went out. Around six months later the coil pack went out, two months after that the front bearings went out. At about eight months the tumbler in the ignition went out. At about nine months the thermostat went out. We now are being told that the rack and pinion and transmission are bad at 116000 miles and less than 18 months since our purchase date. After extensive research I have found that we are not the only ones having these sort of issues. I also have been told that there was a class action lawsuit against the maker of the vehicle in which we were not notified of. I feel that this vehicle is unsafe and it seems quite rare that one would have so many issues with a vehicle in a short amount of time.

28 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 08/20/2011

This vehicle was 6 cylinder model with awd. It has a standard 5 speed automatic transmission. The transmission went out (slipped) completely going up a low rise. After stopping and starting up again, it worked again for another few hundred yards and then went out again just as we went into an intersection. We were able to pull over and call for a tow. A total replacement of the transmission was required at considerable expense.

29 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 07/26/2011

My car has 103,000 on it and has been very well maintained. It suddenly died with no warning while I was driving up a hill. I had it towed to the shop, where they ran a diagnostic. I have a transmission leak, a bad intake manifold that causes the engine to run incredibly lean, and a sensor problem. This car is babied, and with such low mileage should not be experiencing any issues with the intake manifold and the transmission. The sensor I can understand failing, but the amount of issues that this vehicle has had, and the amount of complaints I have seen from other owners of the 2003 Saturn Vue v6 awd is staggering. These are clearly vehicles with issues and Saturn owners should receive some sort of compensation for the amount of money we are putting out to make repairs for shoddy workmanship.

30 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 03/23/2011

The contact owns a 2003 Saturn Vue. The contact stated that the vehicle would not respond when attempting to accelerate. In addition, the vehicle could only be driven in first or second gears. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where they advised him that he needed the transmission replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and they advised him that they would possibly repurchase the vehicle back from the contact. The failure mileage was approximately 109,000.

31 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 11/03/2010

With no advance warning as I was getting on to the highway my car would not shift into 3rd gear and immediately started losing power. I had to hurry and pull in to the emergency lane (which is only about 4 feet wide) on the left side of the road. The car was still running but would not drive faster than 10 miles per hour. Eventually I made it off of the highway and to a gas station. It has been at the mechanics for two days now without a diagnosis.

32 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2010

The contact owns a 2003 Saturn Vue. While driving approximately 35 mph, the vehicle stopped accelerating suddenly. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The contact allowed the vehicle to cool off and the vehicle operated normally. The failure occurred intermittently. The vehicle had not been inspected or repaired. The current and failure mileages were approximately 114,000.

33 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 05/12/2010

The transmission was replaced last fall due to a problem that Saturn was already aware of. The vehicle had been rolling back when stopped just like a standard. On 5/6/10, the vehicle started rolling back again, the windshield wipers started acting funny, and the service engine light came on. On 5/12/10, the vehicle was being driven, when the operator noticed a smell like burning plastic and saw smoke coming from the steering column. She pulled into a large parking lot, parked, turned off the vehicle, and called her sister-in-law, who advised her to call the fire department. The engine company responded, and, using a thermal imager, found the signal light / head light switch to be approximately 350 degrees. There was a small bubble of melted plastic and the insulation on some of the wires was melted. The part number found on the component was abd29790608 22679804.

34 Power Train problem

Failure Date: 04/20/2010

I purchased this car in 12/2009 and one day in April 2010,I was driving down the street and all of a sudden, my car didn't want to go anywhere. I have to get a new transmission that cost me $4200 and I even worked for the company where I had bought the car and where I had to have it repaired at. Then in 11/2012, good thing the transmission was still under warranty because I had to have it replaced again. Well I was once again driving down the street and my car did the exact same thing as it did the last 2 times. I had to have it towed to a garage and found out that there's metal chips in my transmission. I contacted the dealership where the first transmission was put in and my warranty expired 4/2013. I contacted gm and everyone I could with no help. I've read several people are having the same exact thing going on with their Vues and heard that gm settle a recall on Vues transmissions. When are you going to do something about this problem and when are we getting reimbursed for our troubles.
