1 Steering Is Tight problem of the 2007 Saturn VUE

Failure Date: 02/09/2018

Each time this occurred the vehicle was stationary/being parked, on 6-10 different occasions in the past 2 years, the key has gotten locked tight in the ignition switch. This caused the battery to run down and die on more than a few occasions. Once the key was frozen in place, after the engine was off, the key would not move in any direction and the steering was locked tight unable to move at all, the gear shift column was unable to be put in park. Other times the key would just be stuck in the ignition switch and could not be removed, regardless of effort to remove it, also not allowing the vehicle to be place into the gear of park. This problem has cause us to abandon the vehicle more than once, this is dangerous & should be addressed. I see other recalls on other Saturn models but not the Vue 2007, which does have a defect in this area and needs to be recalled. For the record the car key and the remote are the only things on my key chain, so the weight of the key chain is not the problem. This happened twice in the last 3 weeks.

2 Steering Is Tight problem of the 2007 Saturn VUE

Failure Date: 10/12/2016

My steering is hard to turn when I start my car, then after messing with the lock and unlock button the steering wheel releases. The lights on my dash start flashing it goes on and off. The fuses are fine it's something else. There's no place to put power steering fluid? help.

3 Steering Is Tight problem of the 2008 Saturn VUE

Failure Date: 12/15/2014

I had driven to the store and parked the car. After shopping, I started the car and attempted to pull out of the parking spot. The steering wheel was extremely hard to turn, and I realized that I shouldn't try to drive it. I returned it to the parking spot and called a tow truck. The dealer says that the power steering module needs to be replaced. I know other Saturn models have been recalled, but not this one.

4 Steering Is Tight problem of the 2008 Saturn VUE

Failure Date: 10/25/2013

Own two of the same kind of a car. Both cars make chirping sounds when turning the steering wheel since the first 10,000 miles. The first Saturn Vue of the same year has less mileage (40000) and the steering wheel is hard to turn while driving. Same is happening to the one listed above at 70,000. These cars clearly have a steering issue since the beginning and gm should look into the matter. The steering is becoming more difficult in both cars which makes me think this is a manufacturing fault. They are also starting to make a lot of noise when moving the steering wheel, aside from the chirping sound.

5 Steering Is Tight problem of the 2006 Saturn VUE

Failure Date: 02/07/2006

#1. Ignition switch failure. Key gets stuck in ignition switch, causing the key to not be able to be turned or to be removed. #2. Steering is vague and hard to keep pointed in one direction, possibly due to the use of electronic steering. Also; the car sways profoundly over uneven surfaces, due to the suspension design. This lack of suspension design integrity, coupled with the use of electronic steering causes the vehicle to operate in an unsafe manner,(causing the vehicle to meander from side to side, often into other lanes of traffic, unless the driver is constantly correcting the steering input). Please help to force Saturn to recall these vehicles for the safety of the public! please note that I have driven other Saturn Vue's, and they all seem to behave the same way. Thank you!.

6 Steering Is Tight problem of the 2004 Saturn VUE

Failure Date: 08/15/2004

The caller said that while driving at low speeds steering wheel is hard to turn. She says it makes a squealing noise. Once the steering locked. She had to have the vehicle towed to dealer. She said it happened when she was turning into parking spots, driveways, and while turning corners. It started happening without warning, and it was an intermittent problem. Dealer duplicated the problem with the steering. They replaced something called steering shaft intermediate. Also, they replaced the ignition cylinder housing to fix the locking. They replaced it three times. Manufacturer said they will continue to help the caller with the repairs. But she could not duplicate the problem and was concerned about the safety issue.
