Was driving approx 40 mph when I heard a small bang. At first I thought I kicked up a small stone. 30 seconds later a crack developed in front of the front seat passenger. At first it was only about 6 inches long. An hour later it was close to 18 inches.
Purchased a new 2019 Subaru Ascent in February 2019. After having it home a few days noticed a chip with a small crack in the windshield on the bottom drivers side corner near the blacked out area, which I did not see when I took the car. Called the dealership and brought the car in to show them. They said there was nothing they could do and I would have to pay for a new windshield. A month later I wrote a letter to the owner of the dealership and never received a response or acknowledgment of my letter. A year later the small crack turned into a very large crack and ultimately I had to replace the windshield in March, 2020, and pay the deductible on my insurance policy.
Windshield hit by small pebble on highway. Small chip formed. Withrn 5 minutes 10 inch spider cracks formed all around. Middle of a road trip had to turn back home and switch vehicles. Do not feel safe with a windshield soo fragile. Second Subaru ive owned with same windhield issue. First was a 2018 Subaru outback.
A pebble from a gravel company hit my window while I was in motion on a highway, causing a small chip. By the next morning a crack across my entire windshield had appeared.
Windshield cracked against the driver's side pillar about midway up while sitting in driveway. Within a couple weeks, crack increased in size until in front of drives view.
Was at church on a Sunday, vehicle was parked outside. When leaving home getting into the vehicle noticed there was a crack on front window.
The windshield cracked while driving in the freeway.
In January 2020, within one month of ownership, at 1200 miles, my windshield began to crack and spread over the entire glass. I replaced it with oem glass and the dealer recalibrated the eyesight system. In December 2020, at about 20,000 miles, the windshield glass started to present gold speckles when light hit it. I took it to the dealer and he found nothing. It continues to impact my visibility.
I bought the car new. 2-3 months later I went on vacation and came back to a huge crack in the windshield that spontaneously appeared in my heated garage without an associated chip. It gradually expanded but I waited until after winter to replace to avoid additional chips in the winter. 2-3 months after I replaced for $700 while driving again a spontaneous crack appeared before my eyes starting at the edge and moving down without any apparent rock hitting it prior. Since then 3 additional cracks have appeared largely covering my windshield. I live in alaska and have for years. I have 4 vehicles and this one is just driven around town. The suburban windshield is covered in chips but never in my 20+ years of car ownership of 20 or so various cars have seen a windshield that cracks to this extent without large rocks even hitting it. These cracks are not a chip from a rock that expands. There is clearly a flaw with this windshield. First time I was like huh weird. Second windshield with same exact problem, there is clearly an issue. Dealer is telling me tough cookies lady. These windshields are like 1000$ to replace with the recalibration required.
Front windshield cracked for no reason.
One night while driving normally down a smooth road to our house, my fianc noticed a significantly large crack in the bottom of my windshield on the passenger side. I hadn't been hit by anything, nor was I anywhere near flying objects that could have caused said crack. Within the next two days or so the crack tripled in size with no reason. At this point it was across 1/4 or so of the bottom of my windshield. I immediately called Subaru of georgetown to schedule a replacement. I had to pay out of pocket because my insurance screwed me over. That was $1000 I wasn't planning to spend while also planning my wedding.
While driving at highway speeds, my 2019 Subaru Ascent windshield cracked suddenly with no apparent cause. The crack was 2 inches wide in the upper center. Very upsetting as I had just bought the car the day prior. Dec 7th, 2019.
Windshield cracked within a few days of driving it off the lot. I was just driving it and I noticed a small crack. . . And then within a few days the crack went the entire length of the windshield.
The windshield on my Subaru Ascent cracked in two different places without anything striking them. Please see pictures attached to see. On both occasions my car was parked in my driveway and when I came out there was a crack on two separate occasions. This happened within two weeks of each other.
The windshield has lot of little rock dings in it which no other windshield on any other vehicle I have ever owned had. When I put Subaru's replacement new windshield on it could have the same issues. The damage of the major crack is due to outside influence that I will have to replace the windshield and I have no windshield insurance but the small dings have to be addressed before I pay $826. 65. The major crack happened while in motion as well as the many small dings on the highway and a few on city streets.
We had a rock hit our dashboard while we were pulling coming off an on-ramp onto an interstate and resulted in a small chip. Within an hour of driving it after the chip a crack resulted outward to the driver side of the window to the frame and down towards the hood to the frame. This quickly impaired our vision and made it difficult to drive. The windshield was not repairable and we spent about $950 out of pocket to repair the windshield as it had to be ordered through the dealership. On a side note after the repair the rain sense windshield wipers stopped working after the windshield repair and neither the glass shop that did the windshield replacement nor the dealership under warranty would take ownership of this issue and would not fix the defective item.
We were driving and had a very small rock chip in the window. Within the next 30 minutes the windshield had cracked the entire from the top side of the crack all the way to the side of the windshield and cracked on the bottom all the way to the bottom side of the window. So what should have been an easy rock chip repair quickly changed to needing the whole windshield replaced at almost $1,000. The chip occurred while we were going about 30 miles an hour just getting on the on ramp to I-55 at mm 100 in springfield IL.
Within a few months of just driving our 2019 Ascent , the windshield seemed to have cracked overnight!! my wife had noticed it and said that when she was driving the day before she didn't notice it , but when she left in the morning it was there.
Windshield cracked by itself while driving down a road at 45mph. Stereo system defective. Stereo has been replaced 3 times already.
Crack in windshield appeared w/out usual sound or sign of debris. Dealer said it could not be repaired, only replaced & all systems recalibrated at owner's expense. I have driven over 1 million miles & have never seen a crack w/ no debris or if any, so small it made no impact. Just a crack appeared like it was pressure on the glass causing the crack.
The windshield spontaneously formed a crack near the eyesight cameras that eventually spanned the entire windshield after a few days. Was driving on the highway with no other vehicles in the area. No impact occurred. Immediately the eyesight stopped working as well.
Was traveling on the interstate around 65 mph, tiny pebble hit windshield, chip in the windshield. We had it immediately repaired by a professional the next day. Vehicle sat in a garage overnight, never used after the repair and the next day, 12 inch long crack in windshield, not repairable at this point. Also, never even made one payment on the vehicle before this occurred and didnt even have 1k miles.
We are now on our third windshield replacement. Since owning this vehicle - we have had the windshield crack for no apparent reason. It is extremely fragile. I have owned numerous cars and have never seen anything like this! year ago we used to live down the road from a gravel pit and experienced a lot of loose gravel from trucks and other vehicles - and never saw any cracked windshields. Every repair is almost $1,000! we replaced the first one only to have the new windshield crack 2 weeks later. This is ridiculous. This is our first new car and it is costing us more than any of our used cars ever has. Subaru is ignoring us as none of my emails or phones calls have been returned.
Our windshield cracked and we had to replace it not too long after purchasing. We have had problems with our heater locking and not being able to turn it off or our drunk locking and we cant open it we are unable to unlock it. . . . We put in several complaints about a grinding noise when we break since we bought the car. I noticed it when I first drove it and they told me it was normal. When the car takes off there is a shake and stall before it moves. Also when driving it feels like it jolts and then goes again also a complaint. . . .
My windshield on my 2019 Subaru Ascent was cracked while in motion on a highway.
My car was parked. I saw a crack in the windshield (cause unknown) on the passenger side that began at the top glass and descended, then heading inwards towards the mirror. Over the course of 2 days, it has extended past the mirror into the driver view. The Subaru glass (agc automotive, dot-376, m8h4 as1, 30e, lamisafe) could be faulty.
Windshield easily cracks and chips leading to unsafe windshield and poor visibility. It has happened when in motion and when not in motion. This has happened multiple times and I am unable replace it each time.
The first day I purchased my vehicle, I arrived at home and had a run on my windshield. Within a couple of hours, it ran more.
I recently noticed the windshield has thousands of millions of glaring specks/dots when facing the sunlight in early morning or late afternoon. The windshield becomes so blurry and extremely annoying. This happens when I face lights even night times with oncoming vehicles kinda of glare. I cleaned with multiple solutions not going at all, one angle can be seen very grey colored dot. Took to dealer and also agreed with this. Not sure what are my next steps, but I want this NHTSA look at seriously. My car is just about 2 months and 2k miles on it as of now.
While driving on the highway in the right lane at the speed limit of 65 mph, the right rear window spontaneously shattered with no warning, no external impact, no other vehicles near by, and without prior impact to window.
4 days after purchasing my Ascent I was on the freeway and a passing vehicle threw up a rock and hit the windshield. It was so small that normally it could have been fixed but instead it broke the windshield from the driver side view all the way over to the passenger side. The whole windshield had to be replaced at a cost of $1200 for the windshield and had to be re-calibrated at the dealership for an additional cost of $300. Here I am a year later and the same thing has happened again. Exact same spot on the drivers side where a tiny rock flew up and again cracked the windshield from the driver side all the way over to the passenger side. This is clearly a defect in the glass manufacturer that Subaru is using for their vehicles and its a costly one.
