My 2024 Subaru Crosstrek was parked in front of my house for 3 weeks in extreme heat. We drove it today to get it driven & we kept hearing wind. I slid open the sunroof inside piece & the sunroof glass was shattered due the vehicle doors being closed for 3 weeks in las vegas summer heat. On average the outside heat has been 105. I did not drive for 3 weeks due to having foot surgery. I called the local dealership where I bought the vehicle 6 months ago & they said they would not fix it under warranty. Im taking it to an insurance repair show on Tuesday (8/5/25).

My wife was almost killed yesterday in a 2025 Subaru Crosstrek. She was hit by a side impact at over 35 mph through the driver's door, and the airbags didn't work. The side doors locked and buckled from the impact. Firefighters pulled my wife out of the car through the passenger door. What a piece of junk. Don't trust that junk.

While driving on the freeway at approximately 60 mph, the sunroof on my 2019 Subaru Crosstrek suddenly exploded with a very loud pop. This occurred on a sunny, warm day at around 11:30 a. M. , following a somewhat cold night. Both the sunroof and the interior sliding cover were fully closed at the time of the incident. After the explosion, shattered glass rained down onto the closed sliding cover. If the sliding cover had been open, glass could have fallen directly onto me, posing a risk of injury, such as glass entering my eyes, and potentially creating a dangerous situation while driving. The sunroof was inspected and replaced by my local Subaru dealership. I was responsible for covering the parts and labor costs. This was the first time this issue occurred with my vehicle, but I have read similar reports online from other Subaru Crosstrek owners. There were no prior warnings, such as unusual noises or visual signs of cracking, before the failure. While the sunroof has been repaired, I have photos and video available for review upon request.

How was your safety or the safety o others put at risk? on [xxx], I bought a 2016 Subaru Crosstrek. Unfortunately, I fell into the bad and abusive practice of buying a car as is since at no time did that used car dealer in raleigh inform about the correction and rust that is underneath the car. If they had said so, I would not buy the car since it cannot be fixed and at the Subaru dealer where I live, they told me that the car should not have been sold for use on the road due to the degree of correction and rust it presents. In September, when it did not pass the inspection, I came to find out about the situation of the poor condition underneath the car. It had a leaking muffler and they had to repair it so that the car could pass inspection. I present other situations; but the worst is the state of deterioration. Bbb and consumer protective, I made complaints and nothing was the result; because they offered through bbb a settlement at a supposedly low price (I did not accept because I did not trust the sale due to bad faith) and through consumer protection, they told me to go to court. I went to court because up to $10,000. 00usd, they will see the case without legal assistance; I did not qualify because that dealer sold the car for more than $10,000. 00usd. The government could veto the law on car sales as it is, because they abuse and continue selling risky cars and the problem falls on the buyer. Please!! I need a help in this situation. Thank you. The windshield keeps chipping easily. I have not had it inspected. I am not sure who inspects them. It is obviously a safety risk.

While driving on a 71 degree, clear day on 16 may 2024, out of nowhere and without prior warning, my sunroof/moonroof glass on my 2018 Subaru Crosstrek limited, (50th anniversary edition) just exploded. See pics attached.

While driving on the freeway (no overpasses) my sunroof suddenly exploded. When I was able to stop and look at the damage, the remaining part of the sunroof was arched upward. There was no evidence of an object having hit the glass.

Driving at 55 miles per hour and the hood safety latch failed. Hood smashed the windshield and rained glass down inside the car. The hood hyper extended damaging the fenders on the right and left. It also damaged the plastic around the wipers. Terrifying experience. Zero visibility caused me to slam on my breaks almost causing another vehicle to hit my car.

While the vehicle is moving. There is a loud pop noise from under the car. Subaru of America said it is a weld that is cracked. This pop noise is also felt in the steering wheel.

Sunroof spontaneously exploded while driving 65mph on highway.

Car was pulled in to a parking spot in front of the store and stopped and suddenly moved forward over the curb, onto the sidewalk and then crashed into the doors and building.

The hood of the vehicle unlatches without the pulling the lever, leaving the hood open. There are no messages when this happens.

The left rear door would not open from the inside when unlocked. In an emergency, my passenger would not be able to get out on their own.

While I was doing parallel parking, the car on its own went into involuntary, sudden, uncontrolled acceleration & hit a tree & bushes resulting into considerable body damage. Then I called Subaru national customer relations representative & I was told to go to the local Subaru dealer where I had purchased the car about four and a half years ago. The mechanic there told me that he had never heard such incident & he said that since there is no engine light on, there is nothing to scan. And he thought the car was okay. So, I am driving it very cautiously. But, I am concerned. We thought the newer such cars are safer with the high-tech computers on board but I countered this safety problem that I had never come across before.

Driving on freeway, keeping a regular and safe distance from other vehicles around me, when all the suddenly I hear a loud boom. Didn’t see anything fly at my car, like rocks, things off other cars, etc. Then, immediately after I pulled over with my hazards on, I thought I had popped a tire, but I heard air whooshing through something like my window was rolled down. But all of my windows were fine and rolled up, except for my sunroof/moonroof. The glass moon/sunroof had shattered into tiny pieces. If my internal cover wasn’t covering the opening, then I probably would’ve gotten cut my glass dropping in on me. Not safe at all to have glass moon/sunroofs spontaneously explode.

Unknown windshield cracked, no apparent reason, and can be inspected. Nothing has been reported or inspected as of yet.

I was driving on the highway and my hood opened and flew back into the windshield. This caused my windshield to break. It was very dangerous and scary since I was driving on the highway. I was very lucky that I did not hit anything or anyone and also that no one else hit me. The tow truck driver said that the hood latch was broken. I have never had any issues with my hood closing prior to this and had no idea it was broken. There were no warning lights and the hood appeared to be closed, it looked the same as the hood always does, not lifted up or anything. The vehicle is still being fixed so I would think it could be further inspected if needed. The damage to my car is extensive. It needs a new hood, new windshield, fenders, and roof. The hood hit so hard that it caused the above mentioned parts to be distorted and bent. The part that failed on the car is the back up hood latch to prevent this from happening if the hood does open without warning like this.

Engine hood-latch disengaged while driving at speed. The secondary (emergency) latch failed to keep the hood down, causing it to fly open, shattering the windshield, and completely blocking a view of the highway. (the hood latch had an issue where it would not close 10 months prior, and it was serviced by Subaru at that time).

Driver side rear door window exploded while driving. Shattering was unexpected. No rocks were heading that way and car is only 1. 5 years old.

The third windshield we've had on this car cracked again for now reason. This is available for inspection, and we have documentation of the previous issues, including when Subaru paid part of the second one because they determined there was no reason the windshield should have cracked. Windshield cracked while in the driveway (we were in the car), determined unsafe to drive. The problem keeps occurring. Each windshield replacement has been performed by the dealership we bought the car from. The vehicle has been inspected by the state farm insurance folks for payment of the first windshield repair. There was no warning for the crack.

In the first 200 miles of ownership, the paint began chipping off of the hood, fenders and front bumper. After 2000 highway miles, there are more chips down to bare metal/plastic than I can count.

Windshield cracked for no reason. Crack formed underneath the edge of the rubber window seal and has spread a crack six inches in height.

Windshield cracked in cold weather while warming up. Driver side sun visor fell off as I was driving as well.

While in motion at approximately 65mph on the highway hood latch failed and hood flew up and smashed into windshield, shattering glass all over and pushing windshield in towards driver. Front windshield view was completely obstructed and driver was unable to safely pull to shoulder. Vehicle sustained significant damage to hood, hood hinges, windshield and fenders. Subaru has history of lawsuits and recalls regarding failed hood latch. Police report is available.

While driving straight at approximately 35 mph on a 34 degree day on a clear road, we heard a loud noise from the roof. We pulled over and saw that the sun roof had spontaneously ruptured and exploded outward. Luckily the sliding door to the sun roof was closed. When examining the sun roof, there was no evidence of anything hitting the car. In fact the roof rack bar was right over the new "hole" in the glass sunroof and would have proteted the glass from a falling object. The sunroof was puckered "out" and glass was scattered on the exterior of the car not within the sunroof compartment. It appear to have spontaneously exploded without external damage.

While driving on my way home in light snow my window cracked starting at 6 inches and is now over a foot long and growing.

My windshield got a big crack out of nowhere while I was driving on a highway. In addition my windshield wiper nozzles and pump have both been replaced due to problems cleaning window but continue to malfunction still and I can't see clearly because of it.

I was driving down the highway, and all of the sudden I heard a loud pop. I pulled to the side of the road and got out to see that me sunroof had exploded.

~tl- the contact owns a 2018 Subaru Crosstrek. The contact stated that along the top iof the windshield their were rough spots in a row above the top of the windshield that looked like rust. The contact spoke with the dealer (west herr automotive group 3552 southwestern blvd, orchard park, NY 14127; (716) 649-7711) who stated that they would receive a repair before the lease was up however have yet to receive one. The dealer stated they were stone chipped however the contact stated that it looks more like rust. . The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware. The approximate failure mileage was 21,700. Gl.

Tl- the contact owns a 2019 Subaru Crosstrek. The contact stated that while driving approximately 55 mph the front windshield suddenly began to crack. A visibility hazard was present. Contact concern the windshield needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the crack suddenly began at the lower section on the passenger side and extended approximately 40 inches across the windshield. The cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer white bear Subaru(3505 hwy 61 north vadnais heights, mn) was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 21,000. Jft.

I see this as a potential safety problem and not an immediate safety problem. It involves a 2019 Subaru Crosstrek. On 3 different occasions, weeks or months apart, the hood has popped up 1 inch and has been stopped by the safety hook. I notice this only when I reach highway speeds and the front hood "flutters" up and down. There is no indication, from inside the car, that the hood has partially released at speeds under 50 mph. On none of these 3 occasions, has the hood release lever, near the drivers left leg, been activated, pulled or bumped. I've only intentionally opened the hood once or twice -- and the process seems normal. This hood release problem has never resulted in loss of forward vision or with the hood in a fully "up" position. The car is 7 months old with about 7,500 miles on it; so this is happening roughly every 2 months. I rarely drive on dirt or bumpy roads. It's impossible to know exactly when the hood release actually occurs without pulling upward on the hood regularly or driving at highway speeds. There has been no front end damage or trauma.

The hood opened on my 2014 Subaru Crosstrek while driving causing extensive damage. Curious about other reports and who to contact at Subaru?.

Windshield had small crack in it when I came out one morning.

Hood latch disengaged without warning while traveling 60mph on a highway. This caused severe hood and windshield damage and complete loss of visibility. This could have easily ended in fatality.
