The contact owns a 2016 Subaru Crosstrek. The contact stated while driving 65 mph, the high temperature warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to dch Subaru of thousand oaks (3725 auto mall dr, thousand oaks, CA 91362) where it was diagnosed with the engine short block needing to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, upon retrieving the vehicle, the contact stated that the vehicle failed to accelerate correctly with a loud knocking sound was coming from the engine. The contact took the vehicle back to the same dealer 4 months later to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the valves needed to be adjusted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact back to the same dealer for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 118,000.

2 Engine Knocking Noise problem of the 2018 Subaru Crosstrek

Failure Date: 07/01/2019

Tl- the contact owns a 2018 Subaru Crosstrek. The contact received two recall notifications in the mail under NHTSA recall number :19v744000(engine and engine cooling) and NHTSA campaign number: 19v743000(electrical system). Prior to the recall,the contact notified the dealer(cma's colonial Subaru 2122 ruffin mill rd, south chesterfield, va 23834 888-929-4456) that she heard a banging noise coming from the engine when she would park the vehicle. No warning lights illuminate in relation to this failure. The contact was informed that the noise was related to the vehicle's engine cooling off and that she would need an oil change. The manufacturer had not been notified and the vehicle had not been repaired. The VIN tool confirmed that the parts are not available. Jo.

3 Engine Knocking Noise problem of the 2013 Subaru Crosstrek

Failure Date: 11/27/2018

The contact owns a 2013 Subaru Crosstrek. While driving 65 mph, the check engine indicator illuminated and the contact heard a knocking sound in the engine. The rpms were registering high, the traction control indicator illuminated, and the cruise control stopped working with the indicator flashing on and off. The vehicle was pulled over to the side of the road. The dealer was called and wanted to diagnose the failure for a fee. The contact researched the failure and found NHTSA campaign number: 18v772000 (engine and engine cooling) related to the engine valve stem. The dealer (ramsey Subaru, 9625 hickman rd, urbandale, IA 50322, (515) 320-8781) stated that they could not cover the repair without the contact having a recall letter. The contact was in the military and had moved several times, which was why he did not receive the recall letter dated October 31, 2018. The manufacturer stated that there was an open recall and to contact the dealer. The failure mileage was 97,000.
