Service Brakes Problems of Subaru Crosstrek - part 2

I own a Subaru Crosstrek xv limited which I purchased new in November 2014. I was in a line of vehicles on a street waiting to enter a business parking lot and drive-thru. There was an incline from the street into the parking lot. The vehicle in front of me reached the top of the incline and turned right into the parking lot. With my foot remaining on the brake, I raised my foot slightly to allow my vehicle to move up the incline, my car suddenly accelerated and crashed into the bumper of the vehicle in front of me. The local police were contacted and a report was made. It was like when the cruise control is engaged and the engine given more power to climb an incline or hill. I don't know what caused this to happen, but am taking it to a local mechanic since the closest Subaru dealer is 75 miles away.

My Subaru Crosstrek is a 2019 - less than 2 years old and still covered by warranty. It has been meticulously cared for and only dealer serviced. 3 days ago the car's engine shut off while we were driving it. There was a complete loss of power to the brakes and steering. We could have been killed. I brought the car in immediately to the dealer service I have always been going to, and they cannot find anything wrong with the car. In his own words, the service manager said "I would not feel comfortable letting my family or loved ones using your car" - but he offered no help. He said that they can't find a problem, they can't find an error code, and there is nothing they can do. I don't feel safe driving this vehicle given that a serious, dangerous, hazards, and potentially life-threatening engine failure occured with no apparent cause in a brand new car. The fact that the service manager himself said that it's not safe to drive but couldn't offer any explanation of why the information occured is very frustrating. The dealership is giving me a dangerous car back with no knowledge of how to fix it or when it will happen again. If the engine dies on the highway or on a crowded street, it could cause an accident in which myself and others are seriously injured or killed.

Unintended acceleration while parking. Applied brakes but car kept accelerating hitting carport column at cancer center bringing roof down onto car. Car was totaled, no injuries.

Break lights turn on by themselves when car is off. Also has it done it twice were I took a second to respond to the gas pedal.

The contact owns a 2018 Subaru Crosstrek. The contact stated that the vehicle was serviced on 3/32/2018 at a local dealer for an unknown brake recall. The contact stated that while his daughter was driving 20 mph the brake pedal was depressed, failed to respond and the vehicle hydroplaned crashing into the median. There were no warning lights illuminated. There were no reported injuries. The air bags did not deploy. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The contact stated that rk Subaru of vineland (612 n delsea dr building 2, vineland, NJ 08360) was contacted however, he was awaiting a callback. The contact also stated that this dealer serviced the recall for the brakes. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 40,247.

2014 Subaru xv Crosstrek. Consumer writes in regards to NHTSA safety recall 19v-149. The consumer stated the dealer was unable to provide an appointment to have the recall performed.

Had to have rear brakes replaces on vehicle at 36,000 miles. Front brakes should wear out before rear brakes. Rotors were rusted out. Also the downhill alert light would come on randomly on flat surfaces which causes rear brakes to engage. Because the light is sporadic, dealer would not do anything.

I am appealing to you for help with a dangerous problem. The engine of my new 2019 Subaru Crosstrek stalls when I jam on the break. This has happened twice on the road. Both times I was able to avert a fatal accident. 1. ) the first time the engine shut down from a hard stop occurred the night of December 26th. The driver was on the highway, when he made a sharp break realizing he'd gone in the wrong direction. The car's engine shut down on the highway. Luckily it was night and few cars were on the road 2. ) on Sunday, April 7th, I was driving slowly on a country road. I stopped suddenly before a stop sign I hadn't seen. The car engine shut down. I had to turn the engine on a couple of times before the car got going. Luckily I was driving on a country road where there were few cars. I did a little research on the problem of the engine shutting off and found that this is a known issue with certain Subaru Crosstreks. The Subaru dealer in vestal, NY, and Subaru America did inspections on my car and concluded that there is no data confirming the problem. I say that the readings are not telling the whole story. Tl- the contact owns a 2017 Subaru crosstrak. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 mph in the rain the driver pressed the brake pedal but the vehicle did not stop causing the vehicle to crash into the rear of a second vehicle. The during the incident the collision avoidance feature( �eyesight�) malfunctioned and did not stop the vehicle. The front end was severely damaged but the air bag did not deploy. A police report was taken at the scene and the vehicle was driven away. No injuries were reported. The cause of the failures were not determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were not yet notified. The failure mileage was 15,000. Jft.

Tl-the contact owns a 2014 Subaru cross trek. The contact stated that while attempting to slow down the brakes malfunctioned and did not stop the vehicle in time to avoid a rear end collision. The air bags did not deploy. There were no injuries. A police report was not filed. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified. The vehicle had a NHTSA recall number: 19v-149000 (exterior lighting). The vehicle was purchased on 05/28/18 and has had numerous issues. The clutch went out, the bushing on the front control arm were cracked and rusted. The vehicle was sold certified Subaru by the dealer Subaru el cajon 900 arnele Ave, el cajon, CA 92020 (619) 440-0404. Any issue that occured would be replaced at no cost. The vehicle history was not found when the contact researched for it. There was also a long delay in the contact receiving her registration and tags and the pink slip since she paid cash for the vehicle. The failure mileage was 60,000. Tf.

I was driving on a 2 lane highway going 55mph. My knee bumped the steering column and at that moment the dash went blank, I lost power steering and brakes. I was able to pull over onto the shoulder before the steering locked up. I had no idea what had just happened. After awhile I discovered the car would restart and drove the remaining 20 miles home with no problem. It wasn't until I called the dealer the next day and looked online that I realized what had happened. I'm short , 5�1� and had the steering column at the lowest position and the seat forward. I've moved the column to the next setting higher and believe this problem is now unlikely to recur. The lowest column position should be eliminated . Dangerous!!.

The contact owns a 2018 Subaru Crosstrek. When the brakes were applied, the vehicle lost power without warning. The contact stated that the failure occurred on numerous occasions. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (reliable Subaru, 438 s ingram mill rd, springfield, mo 65802, (417) 720-8373), but the cause of the failure could not be determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 677.

I was slowly pulling into the garage and when I went to apply the brakes, the car uncontrollably lunged forward and hit the car in front of me. The floor mat was not an issue and was secure. Although the brakes were being applied, the car suddenly lunged forward.

At 37,801 miles, the brake switch component failed on my 2015 Subaru xv Crosstrek. The hill assist, abs, and traction control lights all came on. When I parked the vehicle and shut it off, it refused to come out of park, leaving the vehicle stranded. This appears to be a known issue with this part, however, there is no recall at this time.

Some times the passenger airbag light comes on and off. This is a reoccurring problem and I don’t see any recalls on this.
