1 Clutch Pedal/linkage problem of the 2017 Subaru Forester

Failure Date: 08/13/2018

Vehicle often shudders violently at low speeds coming to a stop - stalling itself once. When merging onto freeway or overtaking on the highway the vehicle occasionally makes loud clicking noise and automatic transmission acts as if it is disengaged (like a fully depressed clutch pedal in a manual, and engine still revs). Took to Subaru dealer multiple times and received the "we can't replicate it so there is no problem" feedback - dealer also claims there are no error codes. Contacted Subaru of America (soa) directly and was instructed by soa to trust dealer's diagnosis. Online forums and independent mechanics believe my issue is a bad torque converter or some issue with the automatic cvt transmission - a similar issue consumer groups have accused Subaru for on previous generations of my vehicle. . 2 Clutch Pedal/linkage problem of the 2004 Subaru Forester

Failure Date: 05/17/2017

Driving home from gym, I noticed the clutch pedal was not engaging the clutch making shifting difficult. Eventually returned home safely and upon inspection, I noticed a large firewall crack near the clutch master cylinder. The large firewall crack compromised the clutch pedal function. Also, fear of possibility of brake pedal failure and possible exposure to engine bay fumes. I spoke to a Subaru service advisor and suggested to "bring-in" for inspection. Enroute to the dealer waiting for the green light on the main street, depressed the clutch pedal and felt a snap then my clutch pedal play is none. Looked on the floor of my car to see what fell/detached, and it looked like part of the pedal bracket that attached to the clutch master cylinder. I eventually towed my car to the dealer. Are firewall supposed to crack?.

3 Clutch Pedal/linkage problem of the 2017 Subaru Forester

Failure Date: 10/21/2016

On vehicles equipped with 6-speed manual transmission: when shifting gears, engine speed increases to 4000-4500 rpm while clutch is depressed, despite having foot entirely off the accelerator pedal. Rpm remains elevated for 5 to 10 seconds before slowly returning to normal idle. On other occasions, engine speed will increase to approximately 2500 rpm while sitting with the clutch depressed and foot off accelerator (for example, while waiting for a traffic light). Does not seem to be a "runaway" condition: the engine speed never approaches redline, but increases smoothly to the "target" rpm, stays constant for awhile, then smoothly returns to idle. Note: other 2017 Forester owners have reported similar behavior. Subaru is investigating, but at present is saying, "it's not a bug, it's a feature. " after 50 years of driving scores of vehicles with manual transmissions, I disagree.

4 Clutch Pedal/linkage problem of the 1998 Subaru Forester

Failure Date: 06/30/2003

Clutch chatters badly and clutch does not engage until the pedal is almost fully depressed when vehicle sits overnight. Problem seems more pronounced in colder weather, but occurs in all weather conditions. In addition to causing an unsafe driving situation, the condition may cause first and reverse gears to grind when selecting these gears from a stop. After driving a few miles the problem goes away and the clutch operates normally. The problem has been reported to Subaru repair shops numerous times, including at 33,220; 59,451; 74,213; and 92,380 miles. The Subaru repair shops can usually duplicate the chatter, but they have never been able to duplicate the clutch engaging only after being almost completely depressed. At 92,380 miles the vehicle was driven only 1. 5 miles in the morning to the Subaru repair shop with the poor clutch engagement still occurring, and the Subaru repair shop said they still could not duplicate the problem. The entire clutch assembly was removed and repaired shortly after the 33,220 mile service complaint at Subarus expense, but the problem returned within a few thousand miles. This appears to be a common problem for Subaru Foresters, and possibly other manual transmission Subarus (for ple, ://forums. Vmag. Com/suvsubaru0200/messages/5197. Html).

7 Clutch Pedal/linkage problem of the 1998 Subaru Forester

Failure Date: 12/24/1998

After owning the Forester just 3 months, the windshield had three chips in it which then spread into a crack across the driver's viewing area. After only 21,000 miles the clutch disc/plate had to be replaced and was not a warranty matter. After 42,000 miles a bearing in the rear axle has gone bad and the clutch is beginning to make the same noise for which it had to be replaced earlier. I am most disappointed in this vehicle. 000 miles,000 miles the.
