40 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2018 Subaru Forester

Failure Date: 02/07/2019

During the winter of 2019 I was driving during a heavy wet snow storm. I had to stop every 5 -10 minutes to wipe off my headlights as they were covered in heavy wet snow. This was a safety issue as I needed to get out of my car on the side of the interstate near hardin mt, where often many vehicles would pass near the car. For an all weather SUV, this is a safety issue. The lights did not produce any heat to melt the snow so that I could continue to drive in a safe manner. Have never run into this issue before with any vehicle. I have written Subaru about this issue after this occurred, but have never received any response.

41 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2015 Subaru Forester

Failure Date: 11/01/2018

This complaint is potentially related to NHTSA recall id number :19v149 while we have not noticed break lights not operating properly, the vehicle has been rear ended twice, in 2017 and in 2018, possibly indicating that break switch was intermittently faulty.

42 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2009 Subaru Forester

Failure Date: 06/13/2017

Recall for puddle lights--shortly after purchasing in 2017--I took car to rapid city sd courtesy Subaru. I was told that the puddle lights had been removed, and there weren't any put back in, nor did they have any and would have to order them. I was told they would call when they got them, but I have never heard from them.

44 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2015 Subaru Forester

Failure Date: 06/25/2015

This model vehicle has a safety defect. The speedometer is located under a visor which limits the amount of light falling on the instrument, and the instrument panel does not have any back lighting under daylight driving conditions. The result is that under most daytime driving conditions is impossible to read the speedometer and determine the speed that the vehicle is traveling at. This is a universal problem as dealer staff has told me that they have has numerous customers complain about this safety defect. I have contacted Subaru of America to discuss this defect, and was told they do not have any solution.

48 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2011 Subaru Forester

Failure Date: 05/17/2013

Pulled into a parking space at a local train station. Car was stopped and shut off. Not sure if keys were in ignition or not. When reaching over to get handbag and tote I heard the engine rev up very suddenly and loudly, car jumped 6" curb and propelled forward about two feet when right front bumper hit tree and car stopped. Air bags did not deploy and I was not injured. Before I even knew about this website I told the adjuster and the dealership that the car took off on its own. The only reaction I got was strange looks. Told by body shop that car was "totally fixable" within two weeks. $7,000 in body work 3 weeks later was told engine was "running rough" and it was sent to Subaru dealer where purchased. Told that engine had to be rebuilt - machining head; valve replacement; new gaskets etc. Five weeks later Subaru still has my car. About 3 weeks ago prior to knowing about this website and seeing how many other people have reported this problem I ordered a new Subaru using this one as a trade in. Subaru won't give me a trade in value until car is fixed and they have had the car five weeks and still haven't fixed it. I live in the suburbs am 62 years old and I've been taking trains, buses, my bike and walking to get to work and to do everyday errands. No offer of a loaner from Subaru although I've asked twice. Contacted corporate Subaru and reported what I read on this website and my own experience and was told that it would be hard to prove. Last week corporate said they would try to offer assistance with the purchase of the new car in the way of loyalty incentive. As of today I have no car, no idea when or if the old one will be fixed, how much it will be worth as a trade in, a new car that I can't have and that has no definitive price, and a lot of talk but no action from the dealership and corporate Subaru.

49 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2009 Subaru Forester

Failure Date: 05/10/2013

Compass display in rear view mirror went out, no longer displays direction. My friend has the same vehicle and his went out also. I believe this is a safety feature because it helps tell the driver what direction he's traveling when traveling in unfamiliar place.

50 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2011 Subaru Forester

Failure Date: 08/21/2011

Check engine light came on after driving the car about 472 miles. Called dealer repair, which instated that it was just the gas cap loose, which he had us remove and retighten. We were advised to keep driving it and that the check engine light would eventually go out. We drove it for a few more days and then had two different local mechanics shops check the code on the check engine light. Both said that the engine was misfiring, either random misfire, or misfire on cylinders 3 and 4. We called the dealer again, who said that the mechanics didn't know what they were doing and were wrong, but that we should bring the car in next week. We brought the car in on 8/30/11, with about 872 miles now on it and the check engine light still on. The dealer checked the car and said the some cam shaft adjusters were not set properly at the factory and that they would have to add a shim kit to correct this! (on a new car!) the next day, car still didn't work, they had to called Subaru manufacturer and tried at least 5 other procedures and car still doesn't work. The car is defective and should not have been sold as a new car. They have had the cover over 10 days now and still not fixed. We just want a new car, and get out of that one. Please help.

51 Exterior Lighting problem of the 2007 Subaru Forester

Failure Date: 11/06/2010

I have replaced the low beam bulbs 3 times on this vehicle in 11 months. I have owned this vehicle for less than a year and the day I bought it a bulb had to be replaced before I even drove it off the lot. They always burn out with days of each other. I'm concerned that it may be an electrical problem and that my vehicle may catch fire or they will go out while driving.
