Failure Date: 03/20/2019

Tl the contact owns a 2015 Subaru Impreza. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start while depressing the brake pedal and pushing the start button. The brake pedal traveled to the floorboard numerous times before the vehicle was able to start. Also, while driving, the check engine and other unknown warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to bill kolb jr. Subaru (located at 252 NY-303, orangeburg, NY 10962, (845) 359-7777) where it was diagnosed that the battery needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact replaced the battery, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was not taken back to the dealer and was not repaired. On another occasion, while the vehicle was parked, it rolled backwards independently. The manufacturer was not notified of the failures. The approximate failure mileage was 71,000.

3 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2017 Subaru Impreza

Failure Date: 03/15/2017

Eyesight system keeps turning itself off. Rear camera has far more problems after federal rear camera recall. Camera often doesn't appear and leaves me with a blank screen. Eyesight system shuts off randomly and resets after a restart. Nothing else changes buy a restart, and problem is solved. Sound also ceases to come out of the radio, total silence, regardless of input and volume setting. All of the above is random. Car's battery runs down at times, as the screen stays on on the radio, even when turned off. Twice the car would not start. We now carry a battery jump box with us at all times. Problems happen when in motion or parked. Speed or time running not relative to issues. Car has been into three different dealers and has an appoint for a fourth right now. Car was delivered Feb 9, and has been a total electrical disaster.

4 Car Will Not Start problem of the 2013 Subaru Impreza

Failure Date: 09/05/2014

December 19, 2013, I purchased a Subaru Impreza from koeppel Subaru in long island city, n. Y. The dealership told me the car was "brand new" and used only for test drives. After 5 months of driving the car, the car began to have problems to start. Putting the key in the ignition, there was no response. The car door had to be opened manually. The airbag warning light on the passenger side would not go off regardless of the seat being empty or occupied. Someone gave me a "boost" which started the car. I was able to drive and then parked the car. I went on vacation for two weeks. After the car being unused for two weeks, again the car would not start. I informed the dealership of this problem and was advised by them to have the car towed to any Subaru dealership for repair. The car was towed to bayridge Subaru which evaluated the car and said that the car had a dead cell in the battery. Subaru dealers were informed in April of 2013 that Impreza had a defect which cause electrical problems in the car leading to the battery dying and engine problems. Koeppel Subaru did not inform me of this recall before I purchased the car in December of 2013. They also did not inform me that the car was previously corporate owned. I believe that koeppel should have informed me about the recall as well as the fact that it was used as a "loaner" before I purchased the car. I believe koeppel Subaru committed consumer fraud by not informing me of the recall and the car's history before purchase. I do not feel safe driving the car and simply want a refund of my down payment ($5,000) and car payments made up to current date. Koepell Subaru should be investigated for their practices in selling used cars. I refuse to pay bayridge Subaru $35/day for storage of this unsafe car. Koeppel Subaru is in violation of consumer protection law.

5 Car Will Not Start problem of the 1998 Subaru Impreza

Failure Date: 06/04/2004

Intermittent failure/short of power to the main computer (ecu) at appox. 120k miles. Car would not start, no check-engine light. After waiting for tow truck, it starts and runs fine. Took to mechanic, and he says nothing wrong. Two weeks later, same thing. Hook up obd ii monitor and it says ecu recieving "no pwr. " towed to shop. Mechanic diagnosed as failed ecu and replaced. Two weeks later, same symptoms (no check engine light, "no pwr" on obd ii monitor), but an hour later car started fine and obd ii showed no problems. Took to mechanic who found nothing wrong. Happened again a week later, mechanic finds nothing. Two weeks after that, failed again, would not start after many days and still says "no pwr. " towed to mechanic, and once it got to shop, started fine -- movement during towing caused power to be restored to ecu. Thus, it's a short in the power path that runs the ecu. Mechanic cannot find problem. Mechanic dismantled fuseboxes and finds no apparent signs of short anywhere. Says it's a "Subaru bug. " cost to date: appox. $2000, and not yet fixed.
