After reading forums online and my own experience I’m convinced the Subaru sun visors are improperly installed or fitted and pose a danger to drivers and those on the road. The sun visors on the driver and passenger side are incredibly loose and prone to falling off while I’m driving. I cannot use it to deflect sun because it will fall off while I’m driving - creating incredibly dangerous driving conditions. It has fallen in my lap but I’m afraid it might fall down to where the pedals are and cause further issues. This has been an issue since I purchased the vehicle in 2019 and happens almost weekly it doesn’t appear that Subaru sells the parts separately so replacing it would be costly.

I own a 2024 Subaru Impreza purchased new 7 months ago. While driving under normal conditions, a small rock entered through the factory grille and struck the air conditioning condenser. The condenser was punctured, causing refrigerant (likely r-1234yf) to escape directly into the atmosphere. This refrigerant is regulated under the u. S. Epa clean air act, section 608, due to its environmental impact and potential health risks when inhaled. The sudden, uncontrolled release of refrigerant from a poorly protected component may constitute a violation of federal environmental regulations regarding the proper containment and handling of refrigerants. This leak also poses a health and safety risk to occupants, as the refrigerant can enter the ventilation system and be inhaled by the driver and passengers, potentially causing dizziness or other symptoms. The repair facility quoted over $2,000 for replacement of a condenser that retails for approximately $300. Subaru refused warranty coverage, claiming “road debris” damage. However, the condenser’s exposed position directly behind an inadequately protected grille makes it highly vulnerable to impact from small rocks under normal driving conditions — a foreseeable and preventable hazard. This is not an isolated incident. Multiple Subaru owners have reported similar issues Subaru has previously acknowledged condenser vulnerabilities in other contexts, issuing technical service bulletins (tsbs 15-222-18 and 15-223-18r) addressing condenser assembly issues and service program wrb-21 for condenser corrosion in 2017–2018 foresters. These actions demonstrate that Subaru is aware of condenser weaknesses and has taken corrective measures in the past. Given the safety risks, potential epa refrigerant handling violations, and recurring nature of this issue across multiple Subaru models and years, I request that NHTSA investigate the grille/condenser design in the 2024 Impreza constitutes a safety defect and regulation failure.

Tpms safety system failure. Vehicle display of tire pressure readings on the dash has changed from displaying tire pressures for each tire to no pressures displayed (pressures are blank; on the Subaru app which also accesses this data, all tires show red/abnormal with dashes displayed) for several weeks now and tpms error warning light remains illuminated on dash. Manufacturer has suggested I take car to dealer to diagnose at my upfront cost for their defect as the vehicle is out of warranty. A friend with the same car has experienced the same problem, replaced all tpms sensors at their expense, still having this same problem despite the attempted fix. This safety defect is not being adequately addressed by the manufacturer despite contacting the advocacy department and corporate executive.

I attempted to get a safety recall (headlamp assembly defect) addressed at my local Subaru dealership. The vehicle is still under warranty, and I was told I may be able to get a loaner or rental. However, when I arrived, I was informed that the dealership only has 9 loaners and does not offer rental coverage at all, even for warranty customers. I had already spoken to someone about my need for a rental due to my class schedule and was led to believe this could be arranged. I drove down there, took time out of my day, and missed class — only to be turned away with no solution. Subaru’s recall notice acknowledges the increased risk of a crash due to poor visibility and glare. My vehicle remains unfixed and unsafe to drive, and I was left with no support despite my warranty and a safety recall. Subaru has not made it reasonably possible for me to address this recall. If an accident occurs while I wait for a proper resolution, I will hold them responsible. I am submitting this complaint to formally document my experience and push for accountability.
Description of the problem: on or about [xxx], my 2019 Subaru Impreza experienced a sudden engine failure. The check engine light illuminated, and the engine shut off. Specifically, the check engine light came on approximately two minutes into the drive, and the engine shut off within 30 seconds of the light appearing. The vehicle was taken to albany Subaru in albany, CA, where a technician diagnosed the issue as a blown 15 amp ignition fuse and a damaged ignition coil (#4). Albany Subaru is recommending replacement of the spark plugs, coil packs, and the fuse. Albany Subaru has stated that "Subaru sent the recall out due to defective coil packs, and had the new updated coil packs installed. My tech is recommending to replace the coil packs due to the fuse blowing out and shorting out the current coil packs. The #4 coil was found damaged during the inspection. " connection to recall: I am concerned that this current failure is related to the original defect addressed by recall 21v264000. My vehicle had the recall service performed on November 14, 2019, to replace the ignition coils. It appears that the replacement coils, or an issue related to the recall repair, may have failed, leading to the blown fuse and further coil damage. I have asked the service technician at albany Subaru to specifically determine if the current failure is in any way related to the original defect or the replacement parts installed under the recall. Safety concern: this sudden engine failure poses a significant safety risk. A loss of engine power while driving can lead to a crash, especially at higher speeds or in traffic. In my experience owning many vehicles, I have never encountered issues with ignition coils, nor have I experienced this frequency of recalls. Vehicle information: • year: 2019 • make: Subaru • model: Impreza • VIN: [xxx] • mileage: 59,784 miles recall information: • NHTSA recall number: 21v264000, service date: Nov 14, 2019 information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia),.
So far I went to herb gordon auto world in silver spring at least three times for the eyesight system that keeps malfunctioning and they said each time there's no codes and no sensor or system error light codes on. I called and talked to Subaru customer service three times and on the fourth time I was told to go to another Subaru dealer and have it looked at as a second opinion on the 16th of Aug I went to fitzgerald auto mall after I talked to the service advisor matt and found out that it had a code in it in the history po1894 which herb gordon auto world either didn't figure out how to find or was too incompetent to find it. According to matt at fitzgerald the code is a communication error from the transmission which is not a good thing to have on a brand new car. I guess mark was the specialist and kelly is his assistant. I also talked to erica on the 21st of August. Erica said the floater dawn was going to call me after she talks to fitzgerald Subaru about the code. I talked to kelly on the 21st. And than mark the same day. When I talk to matt who is supposed to be the head of this case #[xxx] he told me this places you win said they can't advise a fix so we're just going to wait until you have any more problems with it and then we could fix it then maybe so I said can you not find the source of the transmission communication problem he said well we would have to find a fix to it and we can't right now certificate can't fix it or find out the source where it's coming from we have nothing to do now with it unless you have more problems and I said if I'm on the beltway and the communication fails again will everything go off and then the car will stop now having an accident and possibly be killed so to that he stated well that's what insurance is for. This is all safety equipment because the lights come on at first that shows the eyesight error and all the red lights come on that say all the collision avoiding systems are not working information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia),.
Fire started under the engine hood while being driven.
When I put my vehicle into park and try to remove the key, it becomes stuck in the vehicle every time due to a failing park position switch. This is a known issue to Subaru and should warrant a recall.

Eye warning keeps coming on. Then resets a few days later.
The windshield spontaneously cracked while sitting in my driveway. Windshield had no chips, damage, etc. The weather has been in the upper 70's, so no inclement weather. Upon researching, I found that many other Subaru owners have had the same issue.

There is a weakness in the cars firewall around the master cylinder where the weld inside is breaking and it is cracking all around the master cylinder and I am unable to shift the car. I have taken the car to two different shops and both say the same thing that the firewall is failing. The brake pedal is shifting when you push down on the slutch and could compromise your ability to safely find the brake pedal in a braking event. Secondly, in the event of a crash, the clutch/brake pedal assembly could move in a direction not orginally designed causing injury to the legs/feet. If it breaks through all the way it will permanently damage the car beyond repair. I have gone online and read that this is happening to many many many people and their are class action lawsuits going on. I just want to be able to drive my car safely and not worry about killing myself or my kids and no one can fix it. It needs to be a safety recall!! this is what I read online as soon as I looked it some Subaru models have had issues with their firewalls, including the 2008–2010 Impreza and wrx. These issues can include broken welds that cause other parts of the clutch system to wear out. Some symptoms of a Subaru firewall issue include: failed clutch, failing pedal assembly, sheet metal tearing, heavy clutch pedal, and squeaky clutch. Some Subaru owners have reported that the firewall is cracked where the master cylinder is attached, causing problems when shifting. Others have reported that spot welds under the cowl are either cracked or deformed, and that there are little spaces in the firewall where the master cylinder flexes. I just put $13000 into my car and now I can't even drive it because of this issue and it was not my fault. It is the fault of the manufacturer. Please help me!!.

Head unit constantly rebooting. Completely unable to use the head unit. No longer functional. Unable to power the screen off. Very distracting while driving especially at night. Power button no longer works. Started about a year ago, then randomly seemed to of temporarily resolved itself until a couple of months ago. Head unit is now 100% nonfunctional and constantly reboots. No warnings when first occurred. Issue has been confirmed by independent service center. Puts myself and others at risk due to the screen rebooting on repeat and no way to turn the screen off. Extremely distracting and unsafe.
The occupant control unit in my car has failed, and there is an open recall (reference #wqt-55r) for the engine diagnostic code (b1650) for my specific part number for the occupant control unit, but the Subaru dealership is saying that my VIN number does not apply. The problem is a well known Subaru issue where the passenger airbag fails to turn on, and Subaru has recalled other vehicles of our make and model from this year (2012) for this problem.

Na need to know why the recall issued in 2022 has not been fixed.
Key will not turn past acc after driving and so will not allow key to be removed from the car. This is a sporadic issue but could be a safety concern if needing to leave the car for an emergency as it runs down the battery and will not allow me to secure the vehicle. Driving around for 5 to 10 minutes more usually solves the problem but I might not have that extra time in an emergency! this has occurred several times, most recently today.

I have not been on an accident or anything related, my complaint is about my car's current recall that the manufacturer cannot fix. My husband is military and we are currently stationed in spain, the car has a recall to be fixed before shipment to the new duty station. As per the shipping rules, there cannot be any recalls active on the vehicle and we have done our part to contact the manufacturer both in spain, united states and puerto rico (where the car was purchased originally). We are expected to ship the car in January 31st, 2024 from spain to the new duty station which this matter has an urgency as it is the only car we have. I have done my part of contacting all Subaru manufacturers so someone can fix the issue before the ship out date, and even they say the manufacturer has no idea how they will fix the recall. We need help! the car is in perfect condition we have not have any issues with the related 'recall' as of today. Again, we are not in the united states but stationed in spain for military purposes and we are expected to move out at the end of January, this matter has great urgency!.
Windshield cracks repeatedly, 5 cracks on 26000 miles, I’m changing windshields as often as I change oil. Something is wrong with the eyesight windshield, Subaru will not help me I have complained to them as many other around the country. It is in court in new jersey already.
My 2015 Impreza has had its rear wheel bearings fail twice now, and now there’s still a loud noise coming from the end of my vehicle. My most recent trip to the dealer to get a bearing replaced costed me nearly $800. The kicker is, I just rolled over 65,000 on my car. There’s no reason I should be flying through bearings this fast, and have what seems like a never ending rear-end noise that seems to only be getting louder.
Driving the 2015 Subaru Impreza the front hood popped open and crashed into my windshield. Luckily it popped at 30-40 miles per hour and I was able to stop safely. Many damage to the body of the vehicle. It has happened a couple times before (found the hood open) but the safety hook was holding the hood closed. Called the Subaru dealer at san bernardino and they said that is not a recall for this issue and I asked to talk with a representative and they said someone will call me. After 3 days of waiting to be contacted, I called the insurance to fix the car.
This is my first car and im completely disappointed I purchased it bc of safety. My car battery keeps dying I purchased my car in 2019 and since then I have changed it 4 times. I keep taking it to the dealer and telling them is a parasitic drainage and nothing yet. On top of that the recall for the headlights over a year and nothing. Im never buying a Subaru again!.
From: kundan dhakal date: August 18, 2023 subject: complaint against Subaru for faulty and poor quality windshield I am writing to file a complaint against Subaru for the faulty and poor-quality windshield in my 2017 Subaru Impreza. On August 18, 2023, while I was driving on I-35, a tiny speck hit my windshield. Within a few minutes of driving, the speck spread into a large crack. I immediately pulled over and contacted the nearest Subaru dealer. The dealer said that the windshield would need to be replaced, and the repair cost would be $1,500. I am concerned that Subaru is ignoring the poor quality of their windshields. I have done some research online, and I have found many other complaints from Subaru owners who have had similar experiences. In some cases, the windshields have shattered while the vehicles were being driven, putting drivers and other road users at risk. I am requesting that NHTSA take urgent action against Subaru. I believe that Subaru violates federal safety regulations by selling vehicles with defective windshields. I urge you to investigate this matter and take appropriate action to protect the safety of consumers. Thank you for your time and attention to this matter. Sincerely, kundan.
I discovered a recall for my car, which makes it unsafe to drive without service and a remedy. Additionally, my car is under warranty. I contacted both the dealership I purchased the car from and the manufacturer for information and a solution. The manufacturer initially denied any recall, even though the recall is stated on the NHTSA website with my car’s VIN. They later stated that the dealership is responsible for remedying the recall. The dealership has told me they are unable to remedy the recall and to contact the manufacturer again. I have yet to receive any remedy or offer of solution from the dealership or the manufacturer.
I have been having continuous problems with engine light coming on w the wheel skid light also. I went to auto zone and the codes p000d, c1422,p00700 and others. I took vehicle to Subaru to inspect for repair September 11, 2021 the oil temp, traction control light, abs, and hill control light went off, but the engine light came back on. I left it alone didn't bother with it, figured nothing could be done. I then went to another auto shop on November 28, 2022 because it did bother me about the engine light, someone mention it was dangerous driving w the light on because something could actually be wrong. Also, this shop was to be cheaper. The codes repaired were p000a, p000c, drove off lot engine light came back on. I know it was time for my e- check so I thought I'd give it another try back at Subaru. On July 14, 2023 for repair of engine light. The tests showed repairs for p00a, p00d. They told me they were repairing the vehicle. I left Subaru and about 5 minutes of leaving the engine light came back on. I called them and stated the light was back on, they told me to come in and they could look at it, but I don't have another $ 729. 00 to keep giving these auto shops. I had and e-check on July 22, 2023 and didn't pass because of codes p0021 and p000c.

Hvac plug pigtail blower motor resistor heater control harness is available for inspection hvac electrical plugin was badly burned and melted causing risk of fire summer months created dangerous interior temperatures winter months & inclement weather created physical distress- & created dangerous vision restrictions/blockage because unable to use defroster dangerous cab temperatures, limited or blocked vision through windshield created physical distress and distraction for me thus others and property were at elevated risk yes confirmed by garage. No inspection performed. No warnings available. There are 2 separate incidents: July 2023/August 2023 September 2024/April 2025.
It’s been nearly a year since Subaru issued the safety recall on the Impreza yet they still claim they have no remedy despite the recall notice and the NHTSA website stating that the right and left headlamp housing will be replaced as the remedy. At this point it’s not being handled in a timely fashion and Subaru is dragging their feet and not concerned about the safety of their customers as they initially fought the recall through appeals and lost, thus forcing them to implement the recall. They are rolling Impreza’s off the assembly line so it’s not like there’s a part shortage, they should be halting production to get the headlamp housing units out to the dealers and not allowed to continue to produce new vehicles if they can’t handle them both concurrently.

This Subaru model and most other models I have researched is having connections issues with the infotainment systems, connecting and keeping a connection with android auto and apple. It's not like just a small annoyance, this is causing me big issues when it does connect to android auto then it is intermittent causing the driver to take their attention off of the road to unplug replug in the phone then stopping and turning off the car/ restarting phone to try fixing this issue, this have become very distracting iv almost been in multiple accidents trying to get my cars systems to work properly. This is something I have took to the dealership they assured me there was an update coming and told me they would not service my vehicle for this issue, even tho it's still under manufacturers warranty, it has now been 6 months and still no update or fix for the problem that is a serious distraction, some people might say no big deal drive without it, but when u are counting on directions and your map to work then it continues to jump on and off the completely tanks this is a big issue they are ignoring!.

The front control arm bushings are failing. The rf link is broken to the suspension too.
My car spontanously developed a crack in the windshield. It has slowly grown double in size. The crack has no clear cause, chipping, or impact.
While driving on highway 96 on 3/29/23 at 5:45pm my drivers side window blew out. I was in the far left lane going 75mph, when I heard a pop noise and when I looked over my window was flying in my car and outside my car. I did just keep driving because what would stopping do. I did not file a police report because I didn’t find a stone or bullet in my car. I have contacted Subaru and they seem to be working with me. They offered to pay for any out of pocket expenses for the window. I still need to talk with them about the paint that needs repainting due to the glass hitting it.
Went to my car this morning and the windshield was cracked on the top center from the edge of the windshield to around where the rear view mirror is. This crack was not there last night when I parked my car. And there was no accident/damage to the windshield before this morning.

Left side light is very dim, very unsafe to use at night time. We cannot drive it at night.
The hubcaps that were manufactured with the car and given with the car have repeatedly fallen off while driving. This is a hazard because it has almost hit other cars while driving. In the 5 years I have had this car I’ve had to replace 6 hub caps that have fallen off. When I got my tires replaced this year I was also told by the tire center that they constantly see this issue with Subarus and that the hub caps for this car frequently fall off because of the design. I have tried to tell Subaru about this issue but they don’t care. I have friends who also have Subarus who have the same issue and whenever I’m driving around I can see other Subarus missing their hubcaps so I know I’m not the only one having this issue. The approximate date I’ll enter is the most recent but this dates back to 2020.
I have a Subaru 2019 Impreza. When parked in my drive way on a los angeles winter day, I turned on my defroster and my windshield cracked at the bottom center of the glass. I assume this has to be a defect given Subarus are made for more extreme conditions.
The left front and right front halogen headlamp assemblies, containing the side reflex reflector and low beam reflector, may not fully meet requirements set forth in fmvss no. 108 – lamps, reflective devices, and associated equipment. At certain viewing angles, the left front and right front side reflex reflectors may not properly provide reflected light, which may lower the vehicle visibility to other road users, increasing the risk of a crash. Additionally, the left front halogen low beam reflector may not properly illuminate the roadway for the driver and/or may cause glare for other road users, increasing the risk of a crash.
