The contact owns a 2017 Subaru Impreza. The contact stated while driving 15 mph, the vehicle began to hesitate without warning. The contact then stated that while at a stop light, the vehicle stalled upon depression of the accelerator pedal with the traction control symbol flashing on the instrument panel. The vehicle failed to restart after several attempts. An attempt to jumpstart the vehicle also failed to start the vehicle. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer where it was initially diagnosed with defective spark plugs and contaminated fuel. The contact was later informed that the failure was caused by a defective fuel pump that needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but offered no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired and remained in the possession of the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 68,500.

2 Fuel Pump problem of the 2008 Subaru Impreza

Failure Date: 11/01/2010

Fuel leak at flange joint of fuel pump/tank assembly or nearby location accompanied by significant corrosion of flange retaining bolts. Leaked fuel causes odor to accumulate in passenger compartment by way of nearby air exhaust vents while vehicle is parked. Vehicle is out of warranty due to miles driven. Dealer service department unable to schedule appointment in timely manner to resolve issue due to workload.

3 Fuel Pump problem of the 2002 Subaru Impreza

Failure Date: 11/01/2006

The contact owns a 2002 Subaru Impreza rs. The contact noticed a very strong gasoline odor inside of the vehicle. The vehicle was not examined by a dealer for the cause of failure. The contact stated that over time he noticed that the failure only recurred while driving in very cold weather conditions. An authorized dealer confirmed that the contacts VIN was not included in the recall associated with NHTSA campaign id number 09v468000. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 60,000 and the current mileage was 127,000. The VIN was unavailable.
