The built in display/infotainment by default will display weather warnings for an area around the current location of the vehicle. When these are displayed, the rest of the display is not usable until an "ok" button is touched on the display. When this first happened on our vehicle, multiple tropical storm warnings were active around the area, and each time "ok" was touched, a new message popped up - a total of at least 10 messages popped up. The need to interact with the screen to dismiss the message creates a significant distraction when driving, and may need to be done to be able to access some of the controls which are only available on the touch screen, or when the navigation system is being used. While this warning function can be turned off, it is on by default and not clearly described in the manuals.

I bought this 2013 Subaru Legacy limited on June 12,2019 and a week later the emergency brake light and cruise control did not work and the lights were on the dashboard. I brought the car to a Subaru dealer in wilmington, nc and was told that it needed the control panel for the emergency break which effects the cruise control. This same problem is a current recall in Subaru Legacy manual transmission and I feel that there should be a recall with the automatic transmission as well since my car is affected by the same problem. The car was just out of warranty and just over 100,000 miles . The repair is over $1200 and it is just not right that this has happened and it is not a recall. Please issue a recall for this same problem as the manual transmittions on the automatic transmitions. I can be reached at 203 494 7576 . Thank you, rita corbett.

I had a 2011 Subaru Legacy2. 5;at 1130 am,I was pulling into a parking space at a local convenience store near us that we often go to,when suddenly on turning right into the space I heard the engine "rev"at a fast speed even though I had lifted my foot from the accelerator. (I used to drive a manual shift, and it reminded me of the sound an engine would make when trying to upshift too fast between gears)before I could react the car surged forward into the space, and I was barely able to slam the brake before it covered the 6 to 8 feet and hit a guard post, crumbling the front end to where the engine is bent and the car a total loss. The airbags did not deploy. (fortunate,as when I returned home I found the letter from Subaru that my car was part of the takata recall)interestingly, the engine still started and the car was drive-able ,despite the radiator being cracked in half(we were able to park it after having it towed). I looked up the symptoms I experienced and feel that there may have been issues with the electronic throttle control mechanism or the app(which senses the position of the accelerator ,as I am sure you know)my check engine light never went on. The car had acted as if it had idling issues a couple of times but not with regularity, and it had never stalled or displayed any other warning of this. I had just driven the car about 7 miles before this happened. I will never buy another Subaru;I have had other cars with troubles in the past but this is by far the most dangerous. I am just thanking the lord that the airbags didn't deploy and we weren't crushed(my 17 year old daughter was in the passenger seat). And,the car only had 24,350 miles on it! practically new condition!sad, because I really liked this car.

Door locks either don't unlock or lock. They must be done manually. This caused a problem with a child in the back seat. You cannot get the door unlocked from the outside using the remote. We have complained to Subaru and they will not fix under warranty. The car was stationary, parking lot. This is a continual problem.

Experienced stuck driver's window last summer in period of temperature fluctuations (extreme to moderate heat), reported/shown to dealership; same issue this February (extreme to moderate cold). Otherwise, no problems with car since began lease fall 2014. On Monday, March 9, 2015, parked car across the street from my house about 6:15/6:30pm. Did errands, returned about 30/45 minutes later to get glasses out of center console -- 7/7:15pm. Then I locked the car with remote key piece. Car acknowledged with sound, lights. This was the last interactive action taken with car. Car had been idle for 30/45 minutes. I saw nothing new, unusual. I returned to the car approximately 12 hours later, around 7am, Tuesday, March 10, 2015 to get in the car to go to work. The remote key system was not functioning; a first since I'd gotten the car. I tried the car key in the front driver's door. Didn't work. Again odd. I tried the back driver's side door; it was open (again odd; I'd locked the car the previous evening). I bent inside, looked toward the driver's door and noticed the door's manual door lever mangled. I worried the car might have been vandalized overnight (unusual; I live in a low-crime neighborhood). There was a powerful, chemical-like smell in the car. I came around to the passenger side, bent in through the front passenger door. Experienced strong chemical smell again. From this vantage point, I noticed the driver's side door, on the side by the dash and front wheel, was burnt and gutted; part of dash adjacent burnt. I looked outside of the car; saw no exterior damage. Found no personal items missing, including loose change left in car for tolls/meters. Asked neighbors living on part of street where the car was parked; they had not seen a fire or explosion that morning or previous evening. Called state farm to report the incident. Took pictures 8am.
I was coming to a red light slowing down from 15 mph while applying the breaks, the car acts like something is grabing & it shuts down the motor. The car was not cold it was warmed up & drove about 28 miles before doing this. The skid light came on. It was a dry road. This car has done it several times. I have searched this on the internet & have seen others saying the same thing has happened with their Subaru. Its scary to think this might happen to me on one of our slick roads going off a hill. I have not had it checked out yet do to the holiday season. It does not happen every time I drive it. I have noticed while applying the breaks when it starts feeling like the rotors are grabbing if you ease off just a little and then apply again the car will not shut off it will stay running. I have shut off the skid protection and drove it & still it will do this and the skid light will show up. On the internet it says it could be the icv valve. But im not sure that has anything to do with the skid protection. I bought the car this summer & I had the dealer ship to put new breaks and rotors on it before I bought it. Had no trouble at all with this untill last month. I just had the oil and filter changed this week. There are no service lights staying lit. & it still does this. I will be getting this checked out. A guy mentioned that it could be the transmition. This car is an automatic & does have the manual transmission shifters on the steering wheel. The car was in the automatic mode when this happened it is not drove in the manual side. Im thinking I should try driving in the manual side to see if it will do this. Ive had no complaints with any of my other Subarus weve owned. I have never had this problem with them. However I have never owned one with the skid protection or in the 2000 model until this one.
Recently acquired a 1999 suburu Legacy brighton in excellent condition. Was informed by seller that the owner's manual was never provided by the dealership. I need to know the proper method for securing my child safety seat in this car. In order to download the pdf file (just the part about the child safety seat instructions - not the whole manual) from the Subaru website, I am required to buy a "subscription" to their website. While it is fair for manufacturers to recoup the cost of archiving and keeping available owners manuals for older cars, information such as proper securing of child seats is information that should be made available free of charge. Greed has to be checked somewhere.
