Especially, while driving on the highway, I could hear the unusual spinning of the wheels. It happened about a year ago, and when I brought it to the attention of the front desk clerk at the quality Subaru in wallingford, CT. , he informed me that he will let the technician know. He never wrote anything regarding my concerns on the slip with the oil change information. The technician said, that he did not see anything wrong with it, it could be the surface of the highway or my tires. I purchased new tires, install new brakes and the noise was still there. On February 25, 2020, I went through another multipoint inspection, and this time, the technician found both rear wheel bearings noisy and recommended replacing them for $1155. Oo plus tax and my car had 69057 miles. My complaint is that the same noise was there about a year ago when my car was 55000 miles and I kind of used to this noise. Please make a note of it. Thank you.

I had 4,000 miles goodyear eagle ls2 tires when I experienced a sidewalk blowout on the expressway in another state. We had to have it replaced while traveling. The repair shop said it was suspect since there wasn't a foreign object or puncture, it was just the sidewall that blew out. There were no potholes around. Fast forward 5 months and another tire developed a bulge in the sidewall. I happened to notice it when I was at the gas station. Luckily it didn't blow out. I have never experienced any tire ever blowing out or bulging in all the miles I drive. I'm on the road almost every day for my sales job. To me this seems like a quality issue. I still have the second tire if you would like to look at it. The authorized dealer I took it to couldn't be bothered with a warranty issue. There was no damage to my wheel at all and I didn't hit a pothole or road debris.

Need to replace goodyear eagle ls2 225/50r18 tires. 4 of them have dry rot on the inside of the tire closest to the rim. One has a bubble on the inside. Car just turned 37 thousand miles yesterday. This is a potential issue to continue driving on these tires. I am afraid of a blowout.

Child safety lock on rear passenger door got stuck upon activation for the first time. Unable to unlock it. The door can only be opened manually from outside. Goodyear tires eagle LS 2 225/50-18 are completely dry rotten . The ride is terrible and unsafe.
I noticed 1 of the original tires that came on my new Subaru Legacy had a sidewall bulge. When looking at the wheel you could not see any makes to indicate I hit a pot hole or curb. About a month later I noticed another tire had the same issue. The dealership looked at the first tire and offered to replace it for free since it was under warranty when I reported it. Unfortunately when I saw the second tire the warranty had lapsed. While waiting for the tires to come in I did notice one of the bulges had doubled in size. In the time I saw it for the first time and replacing it I put no more than 300 miles on the car.

1997 Subaru Legacy outback. Came out to my parked vehicle with the right front tire flat due to part of the suspension spring being snapped and sticking into inside of the tire. Spring was intact when I parked it. Frightening to think if that had happened while driving on the highway of which I was the day before this happened.

After purchasing my vehicle in November, my steering felt off in December. A couple weeks later my tire pressure light came on. I took my car in for service and there was a nail in my tire. Subaru repaired the tired. Upon leaving Subaru, steering continued to feel off . Pulling to one side constantly. I took the car in to Subaru again for a wheel alignment on January 23rd. They confirmed it was out of alignment and fixed it. The car drove great for 2 weeks and again it is off. Car is extremely hard to keep in the lane; if it is windy it is even worse. No matter if I am going under 30 or on the highway. The steering wheel does not align with the wheels again. I have driven the same route to work each day m-f for 5 years. There are no pot holes. It is a short commute however I am starting to feel unsafe driving. Do I take in the car again? I love the car but either the tire is bad or the alignment/steering is bad.

The right rear wheel bearing started making noise indicating it was failing. The left rear wheel bearing failed at ~ 42,000 miles a couple of years ago. Subaru indicated these should last 80,000 miles. Your parts selection won't let me enter wheel bearing.

Vibrations occur when exceeding 50 mph. These vibrations extend to the steering wheel, floor, and driver and passenger seats and increase as speeds becoming enhanced in speeds over 70mph. No accidents and regular dealer service. Have had multiple balances, alignments and 2 new sets of tires to no avail. Car presently in dealer repair for greater than 8 weeks trying to fix problem. I was informed that the entire front suspension needed to be replaced.

While driving on a rural paved road our car could not avoid a pothole due to oncoming traffic. The impact of the pothole was severe, the car almost wrecked. The pothole was not huge and the car was only going 35 to 40 mph. After pulling to the side of the road to determine damage, it was decided there was none and we continued with the short trip, and then back home. The following day while driving on the interstate, we discovered there was a severe shimmy in the drive train. After the weekend, we took the car to the dealer. Once inspected, it was determined the car had two bent rims on the same side as the pothole. I was told this was the nature of low profile tires. I requested a meeting with a representative of Subaru. Two weeks later, I had that meeting. In the mean time, I took the car to two different reputable tire shops. Both of which have told me this will always be an issue with low profile tires and particularly this Legacy and these rims. Each of the two shops have had numerous customers who have had similar issue, related to having low profile tires. As it has been explained to me, there is not enough rubber between the rim and the road to prevent these types of issues from happening. The tire actually collapses and squishes down completely this allows the rim to hit the road. My concern is that had my wife been driving on and interstate highway at a high rate of speed this could have been a serious or fatal issue. After meeting with the Subaru representative, I asked why Subaru did not have some sort of customer notice about these low profile tires and the risks associated with them in the owners manual. If there were consumer awareness of these tires, I would not have bought this vehicle. My concern is that there is no consumer awareness on this matter and one only has to wonder how many accidents have been or will be caused by these tires.
I bought car new & it developed issue @ 3 1/2 yrs. I also have the Subaru extended warranty. Car has only been serviced by Subaru, including tire changes. 10/11 @ 38,000 noticed front & rear passenger tires were losing air. I have tpms w/ metal valve stems. Brought car to dealer, they found nothing wrong. I have two sets of tires so I brought car in 11/11 to put on snows. Monitored tire pressure every few days and was still losing air. 10/12, I spray soap/water mixture on tires, bubbles form at the base of the tire valve. Four valves should not be failing prematurely. Over time, the both drivers side tires developed slow leaks as well. 10/12, I called Subaru warranty department & explain that I'm losing air from the valve. I ask if tpms failure is covered & was told it is. 11/12 45,044 bring car in to put on snows. Tell dealer that all four valves are leaking. I'm told it may be corrosion & that's not covered under warranty. I explain that for all four to be leaking is premature. Tech confirms that three are leaking & replaces them. Dealer states that there isn't a warranty code for air leaking but will find a way to make sure it's covered. The tpms unit is one piece so if the valve stem fails or a rubber sealing gasket the whole unit needs to be replaced. I don't know if this is a design flaw and corrosion can cause the metal valve stems to fail prematurely. I check my tire pressure every two weeks by rule & don't wait till the tpms light comes on.

I have had several studs break off over the years and had to replace all of the studs on my 2003 Subaru Legacy last summer. The last event occured last summer 2013. By the time I arrived at my 400 mile destination, I had only one stud holding my tire on. Either this is a huge metal defect with the studs or a potential criminal event against our family. I have kept all records from various garages which have replaced the studs over the years.

Before this - engine replaced with very few miles - Subaru claimed no warranty - insurance paid based on tiny leak in radiator - car just quit. Never knew of any leak - not water in garage floor ever. Then on 12/28/10 had heard loud knocking noise in front end. Subaru sent wrecker (2 hrs_ 1-way) to pick up car - replaced front end problems. Continued/constant problems with this vehicle - truly a lemon. I am 77 - have been stranded more than 2 x's recently - car just loses power - ck engine & cruise lights - also 10/9/12 dash lights on drove 6+ hours to service in new braunfels, TX. Nearest dealer is 2. 5 hrs away 1-way. Need dealers no one else will even look at Subaru. This is truly the Subaru from hell!!!!! limited income cannot buy another car but I should would if I could.

With good all-season tires, the car began "swimming", fish-tailing on snow-packed roads. At slower speeds it still felt like we had a flat tire. Dealer checked the car and said nothing was wrong, that they had never had such a complaint before and that it needed good snow tires. After $500+ in snow tires it, again, handled badly on slippery roads. The dealer's insistence that there was nothing wrong prompted me to sell the vehicle and leave Subaru (having owned 3). It's a sad day when a dealer prefers to see a client dead than address the problem. Good bye Subaru.
On 3/31/09 @ 13,454 miles is when the driver's front left tire started making a rotational metal clicking/squealing sound. It can be heard under 25mph and the sound was intermittent. I told dealer I thought it was the wheel bearing. Several times, I brought it to the dealer only to be told that because it wasn't making a noise there was nothing to fix. They checked all components, ball joints, steering etc. And checked the bearings said car was safe to drive. I noticed there were other owners w/2005-06 Subaru issued a recall for wheel bearing. If you look at 08 Legacy a few others have wheel bearing failure. On 6/21/10 @26,351 a tech rode w/ me to confirm the noise I have dealt w/ for over a year. My service invoice states technician found internal failure of left front wheel bearing assembly. Replaced hub unit. It's dangerous to drive on a failed bearing, tire can seize and lose control of car and damage other parts of car such as axle. I drove for a year like this and was lucky nothing happened. Though, I don't know the long term damage done to my vehicle. I contacted Subaru to tell them of my issue and explain that perhaps they need to look into the mfg. Who makes the bearings and study why their bearings are failing prematurely. This is definitely a safety issue and recall. I hope that this is the last time I have to have it replaced, since it could get quite expensive to fix each time. I take excellent care of my vehicle and want it to last. I didn't pay $24,000 to have it fall apart.
The contact owns a 2003 Subaru Legacy. Last year the contact had three studs break off on the right rear wheel and now they have three that broke off on the front right wheel. The contact took the vehicle to a mechanic who stated that they had never seen this happen before. The contact spoke with a dealer and was told that they had never heard of the studs breaking off from the wheel. The failure mileage was 107,009 and the current mileage was 129,407.
When having new tires placed on the car there was so much corrosion on the wheels and brake housing the service person had to break off the chunks of rust to get the tires off. This happens every time the tires are changed. They advise each time that this not known to happen on a newer car. At the time that this was found there was a recall for cars in other states for this problem but when I called Subaru about this I was told that the recall did not extend to our state. The mechanic I take my car to said it is just a matter of time until the wheels will fall off due to failure from the corrosion.
Front wheel bearing failure.
Front left wheel bearing failure. The car was still under factory warranty, so it was replaced free of charge. At approximately 60,000 miles the rear left wheel bearing started to fail. The car is now out of warranty and Subaru wants in excess of $400 to replace (including labor). I know Subaru has extended their warranty for wheel bearings on 2005-2006 Legacy/outback models to 100,000 mi / 8 years. Obviously the wheel bearing issues have not been resolved on the 2007 models. Subaru claims it's a great car company that cares for it's customers. If this is so, then Subaru now needs to take action and offer the same warranty extension to 2007 model owners.
The front wheel bearing on my Subaru Legacy 2008 failed at 31,000 miles.
Right front wheel broke. Cast wheel. Found tire and rim 30 feet ahead of vehicle after crash due to loss of control. Vehicle spun, entered culvert facing opposite direction and impacted tree causing it to roll twice. Vehicle totaled. Geice insurance has possession of vehicle but will leave intact for another 30 days. Have pictures, broken rim and part of spoke. We've purchased a Subaru forrester with Subaru giving us a customer loyalty rebate. There is little doubt in our minds that this casting was defective and may cause many more serious accidents with death or injury. We we're frankly lucky. . Read more...
2001 Subaru Legacy both front wheels are rusted and the componets behind them.
After snow storm ice built up in the wheel well causing difficulty in turning the wheel and changing the wheels from 15' to 16' without increasing the size of wheel well contributed to the problem. Yh.

Problems with vehicle's braking system, rear tire, whistling noises coming from door and oil leak. The dealership repaired everything except the wheel. The rear hatch was adjusted for whistling noises, and the brakes were dusted off to repair the brake system. The oil filter was replaced and the seat bolts were tightened to eliminated the seats from moving while driving.
