Failure Date: 05/02/2021

Our Subaru 2019 Outback suffered a crack during normal usage on the interstate at approx. 50 mph. The crack occurred two days ago (on 5/2/2021) and has since grown due to the vehicle's vibration during use. The vehicle qualifies as a make and model under recall by Subaru for windshield defects.

2 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 04/20/2021

The windshield cracked on its own. No impact. Research says there is a class action lawsuit for this defect. Vehicle stationary.

3 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 03/29/2021

My windshield seems to crack/chip unreasonably easy. The first crack was a few weeks ago. I didn't see anything hit it. It jsut started crack. This morning, I got another chip and it's now spreading also. I now have two cracks in my windshield and numerous chips!.

4 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 03/18/2021

Spontaneous crack in my windshield. No impact every noticed. I noticed when I was driving at dusk and used my windshield wipers to clear rain. I saw a glisten at the bottom and was surprised to see a crack.

5 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 03/06/2021

The glass windshield is defective. This is the second I have had to replace in a year. I came out to move my car and noticed a crack across the windshield. I park in a private driveway and no cars were around it.

6 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 01/10/2021

Battery totally dead upon entering and attempting to start. Windscreen commenced to crack while traveling.

7 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 12/19/2020

Windshield crack that started from the bottom edge of windshield. I literally woke up to a crack that developed overnight after a regular cold night in reno nv. The crack continued growing since then. I have never own a vehicle that has cracked its windshield just because it is a cold night. Vehicle was parked overnight when crack developed.

8 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 12/18/2020

We developed two spontaneous cracks in our windshield. The vehicle was stationary, parked in our garage. No debris hit the windshield at any time. The cracks begin under/at the driver side near/under the wiper unit. (the cracks essentially form a wide "v" one crack toward the passenger side is quite long and growing, the other is short - about 3" now also growing). The location of the beginning of the crack/s is under the level of the hood of the car, which would also make it near impossible for the crack to be due to a pebble, gravel, etc.

9 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 12/14/2020

I was driving on the freeway and my windshield cracked at the passenger side bottom as the crack traveled up the windshield. I did not notice anything hit it.

10 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2020

I was picking my son up from school when the crack started, as I sat in the parking lot it continued down and across the center of the windshield. There were no chips or dings to be found. I do believe it causes the forward crash indicator to trip sooner than it should.

11 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 09/10/2020

I have owned this vehicle since late may 2019 and I have had to replace 4 windshields due to cracks that developed from both minor rock strikes and when nothing has damaged it.

12 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 08/24/2020

We bought our 2019 Subaru Outback in may, 2019. Before we had 1000 miles, a rock hit the windshield and cracked it. First replacement/recalibration. The vehicle was sitting in the garage in February 2020 when I noticed a crack across the windshield. A second replacement/recalibration. This morning (8/24/2020) when I got in my car in the parking lot to return home from MD va I noticed my third cracked windshield. I will be replacing it soon. I have comprehensive coverage through geico, so I have no out-of-pocket expenses, but I believe that something must be lacking in the design or quality of the windshield to have it crack three times in 15 months.

13 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 08/23/2020

Windshield cracked on its own (clearly no point of impact). Started at the base of the windshield, about 3 inches to the right (passanger) side of the midline. Propagated throuhgout the whole windshield and needed to be replaced.

14 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 08/14/2020

Front windshield is cracked in same location, two separate events, over a period of 4 weeks. Each time the crack appears to originate in the top center of the windshield and then the crack migrates to the center of the windshield.

15 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 07/03/2020

I purchased my Outback in April of 2019. While I was driving on a highway, my Outback's windshield cracked in June of 2019 and my local Subaru dealership replaced the windshield during the summer of 2019. Then while I was driving on a highway in July of 2019 the windshield of my 2019 Outback cracked again. Subaru Outback's replacement windshields are no better than the original windshields. They are defect as well. My 2019 Subaru Outback's windshield has cracked twice in an 14-month period.

16 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 07/02/2020

Driving on highway and windshield spontaneously cracked 3 inches. No impact from rock. Haven't driven since and it's now cracked halfway across the windshield. Definitely a defect.

17 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 05/16/2020

The windshield is cracked. I went out to my car on may 16 and on the front windshield there was a "y" shaped crack going up from the bottom middle of the windshield. When I went back outside on may 18, the crack had spread about 4 inches toward each side of the windshield. On may 21, the crack had spread more and is curving around. The car was parked in my driveway when all of this happened.

18 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 05/09/2020

Windshield has cracked for no apparent significant reason. This was noticed in the morning upon getting in the vehicle and starting to drive.

19 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 04/18/2020

Windshield spontaneously cracked. Subaru replaced under warranty and about 5 months later the replacement also spontaneously cracked. Subaru has claimed "outside influence" caused the replacement to crack and has decline to replace again under warranty. Both times the cracking happened during a snowfall while parked in the driveway.

20 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 03/20/2020

18" long windshield crack appeared on the passenger side about 6" from the bottom. I was driving on the highway and it may have cracked when or if pebble hit it. A lot of bugs died on my windshield that morning too so I had to use my windshield wipers and washer fluid. I did not notice a crack because it was way too dark in the morning to see anything. I noticed the crack at 1pm in the parking lot at work getting ready to go home.

21 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 03/15/2020

I bought a certified Subaru Outback 2019 in February 2020 with 4500 odometers reading. While I was driving my car on the highway on March 15, 2020, a tiny stone hit on my windshield and cracked my windshield. I replaced it on June 17, 2020 which cost me $960.

22 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 02/20/2020

Unknown it was parked in the garage for 2 days, when I came out there was a crack in the windshield.

23 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 01/26/2020

Windshield cracked, for no apparent reason, while parked in my driveway, and had to be replaced.

24 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 12/30/2019

Windshield has spontaneously cracked four different times since purchase in September 2018. Windshield has been replaced three times to date. Each time damage appears to start near the bottom of the glass, then spiders out. It is not clear that road debris or any other external force caused the cracking. This is a known defect and should be corrected by Subaru with a re-designed part. Sending the same windshield over and over does not fix the inherent problem. Your form does not allow for multiple incidences of the same problem over time. Please see attached documents. Are you working with Subaru to correct this problem?.

25 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 12/28/2019

While driving home, on a highway, had a small rock hit my windshield and with in minutes my whole left side was cracked, now it's almost the end of the right side.

Weather was clear and no objects had impacted the vehicle while driving. Star pattern was noticed after dealership used pen to open the area up more. Please see attached picture.

28 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 11/05/2019

While driving down a state highway on 9/26/19 at 55 mph my passenger and I heard a small little tick sound and she said, "that's the same sound my crosstrek made on Monday when it chipped and cracked the windshield". So we started looking around the windshield and sure enough now mine was chipped and cracked at 5 weeks of age, both vehicles were bought new. Then a few weeks later, 10/12/19, on an interstate at 70mph another small, insignificant tick and I start looking around and again, same thing. Yesterday (as of this post) on a state highway at 55mph, right in front of me this time the same small tick sound yet another chip and crack! I've hit bugs harder than these hits that are producing chips and cracks!! both my 2019 crosstrek and 2019 Outback now have multiple chips and cracks in their brand new windshields and none of them are from legitimate impacts with a stone or rock.

29 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 10/22/2019

Windshield cracked for no apparent reason, large crack on passenger side. I was driving my car on city streets when this happened.

30 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 10/09/2019

Crack appeared in windshield with no apparent cause and quickly expanded, requiring replacement. First noticed crack while driving on city street. No visible nick, nothing appeared to have hit windshield prior to appearance of crack.

31 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 10/04/2019

Our windshield has cracked twice in one year. The second crack occurred six weeks after replacement overnight while parked in a garage. It extends through the rear view mirror attachment.

32 Carrier/rack problem

Spontaneous crack in windshield noticed and reported to Subaru on 9/13/19. I was driving in the late afternoon. No vehicles near me when I heard a "pop". Vehicle purchased new 8/24/19.

33 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 09/08/2019

Within two weeks of driving my brand new 2019 Outback, I had an 10-to-12-inch crack in my windshield. I am an incredibly careful driver and had only been driving on paved roads at moderate speeds. I also was driving a passenger around during this time period and neither one of us heard a sound (e. G. , a rock or pebble flying up and hitting the windshield). I have absolutely no clue how I could have gotten a large crack within the first ten days on the road, especially since neither I nor my passenger encountered any sort of road condition or environmental/weather condition that might have caused it. It just mysteriously appeared in the windshield one day. I have been confused for the past 6 weeks but then I heard that there had been similar issues with Subaru windshields, and I believe mine is simply defective. I cannot afford to fix it, and this repair is not covered by my extended 10-year warranty. The Subaru dealership connected me with safelite, which gave me an estimate of over $1500 to replace the windshield.

34 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2019

Front windshield just cracked on a parked vehicle from the mid level on the passenger side. Searching online found many complaints from other users having similar problem. Have just 6000 miles on the car and it has been just 5 months since I brought the new car.

35 Carrier/rack problem

Failure Date: 08/15/2019

Front window cracked in motion on a highway going forwars.
