When put into gear, and you turn on headlights low beam, they are not working. Car can be stationary or moving. The high beams work. Fog light work. Low beams are the problem. While driving, in motion the sensor light will blink on & off, then headlights go out. Have replaced the headlights multiple times within past year. Was already in for service, but now problem is back.

Unknown component part/system. Drivers side headlight went out. Checked fuse and bulb which was still good; replaced bulb anyway and it still didn't work. Next day the other headlight also went out. Checked the same things. High beams, fog and parking lights still worked. My son jiggled the bulb socket and wires and the lights came on but now the driver high beam went out. High beam bulb and fuse were both okay. The low beams also now appeared to be yellow. Had to drive at night a few days later (I always drive with my fog lights on unless the high beams are used) and it seemed like I could not see virtually anything ahead of me; the low beams were extremely dim and unsafe to use. Was forced to use my single working high beam. In googling the problems online I came across scores of other people with similar problems. Some replaced the drl module with no change in result. It has to be a socket problem or grounding problem of some sort, or perhaps a wiring problem, though some people replaced the wiring harness to no avail, and replaced pins, clips in the bulb socket assembly. This is dangerous.

2012 Subaru Outback low beam headlight failure. Our 2012 Outback blows headlights constantly. They last approx. 3 to 5 months before they fail. On a long trip we lost both low beams lights at the same time and had to drive through the night with high beams and fog lights only!!! all fuses have been checked and are fine. Obviously something is causing the lights to go out. This is an extremely dangerous situation that need immediate attention!!! many owners have been complaining of this for years. Nhtsa please do a recall before someone gets killed because of this!!!!.

My car required 2 repairs 5 weeks apart of the wiring bundle controlling the fog lights and low oil level sensor due to a critter chewing the bundle while it was parked. I now have bounce laundry sheets stuffed around the engine compartment at the suggestion of the dealer; they see this often from cars out of the mountains.

We were coming home from a fireworks display at night and my son told me to turn on my lights which already had done, and the low beams on both sides and the marker lights didn't work. I tried turning switch to all positions and they still didn't come on. The high beams work okay and turn signals front and back & brake lights work. We drove home with the fog lights which still work. We need the car to go on vacation and the dealer can't fix it right away as well as what it will cost there or if I have to have some else fix it. It's definitely a safety issue because the road we drive home on has very little if any lighting and there are twists and turns and you could easily drive into a stone outcropping or into he water at any point. I had my wife and two young nephews with us as well. I checked the lights again to make sure what ones were out, I checked the fuses as well to see if something had blown and they were okay. There have been multiple complaints on this and other websites about the Subaru lights. With all the recalls of every vehicles of every 'description, the whole auto industry is totally out of control and needs to be reigned in, it's a huge safety and overall quality issue not to mention the millions of work hours and time lost by tens of thousands of people having to deal with problem.
Purchased this single-owner, well-cared for Outback about 1/9/2015. I was assured all recalls had been addressed. I soon realized the low beam headlights extended the light-field for only a very short distance. (no more than 7 feet in front of car). At next oil change, asked to have them looked at/adjusted. About 2 days after that was done, I had no low-beam headlights. Told the low-beams were not "grounding". (high beams and fog lights are fine). Waited for a $300 control module part to come in but that was not the problem. Now waiting for another $300 fuse box part to come in - no guarantee that is the problem. After seeing similar car complaints on-line, realized this may be a safety issue (and a more pervasive issue) than I thought. The state of wisconsin certainly sees this as a safety issue as they issue a $187+ ticket and the driver loses 3 points. (I already got one ticket due to this problem while awaiting parts). I do not have another vehicle available and drive over 600 miles (round-trip) each weekend between work and home.

I have had this car since it was new from the dealer and unlike any other vehicle that I've ever owned this one has to have the headlights replaced every 3 to 6 months. The fog lights, and clearance lights have had to be replaced several times during my ownership of the car, but nothing like the headlights. I have spent hundreds of dollars buying the best lights you can get by sylvania at $70. 00 plus for a set and I have gone through about 5 sets of these lights. Lucky for me that after having paid to have them replaced by a mechanic the first few times I was able to then do it myself. This is a problem with this make of car. I'm 60 years old and have owned many cars in my life and I have never seen anything like this problem. . I'm sorry that I have not kept records of the outages. Thank you. .

I keep replacing headlight bulbs and they keep burning out Friday we had to drive a mountain road with fog lights only because they both burned out. There must be a problem as it is happening all to often.
