Range sensor on my power train seems like it's going out. I have read dozens and dozens of complains for this very part on this very same model and year car and it's not covered under the warranty and I really don't have $200-300 to get it fixed right now. I have a 2 year old who rides in my car and this isn't safe. What it does is when you get up to about 40 miles per hour it will jerk and decelerate down to about 20 miles per hour, this could cause an accident. From what I've read this part really does need to be recalled because lots of people have had this same issue with this car and this part and the warrant doesn't take care of it. I bought a Suzuki because I thought it was a good car with a great warranty and I'm finding out that might not have been the case.
The contact owns a 2006 Suzuki Forenza. While driving approximately 5 mph, the contact applied pressure to the brake pedal and the vehicle jerked forward. When pressure was applied to the accelerator pedal, the vehicle would decelerate and the rpm reading was higher than usual. The contact stated that he was able to drive the vehicle but experienced the failure four different times intermittently. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer for diagnostics or repairs. The approximate failure mileage was 82,000.
Three weeks ago I bought my used 2006 Suzuki Forenza with only 35k miles and in general, it is almost in brand new conditions. Sometimes (when least expected) if you try to shift from park to reverse or drive, the transmission slams instead of applyiing softly as usual and the check engine light goes on. It started doing the symptom once a week, but now it is making it almost daily. This is a serious safety issue, and as I have seen in various forums, this is a very common complaint, Suzuki must issue a recall!!!!.
2006 Suzuki Forenza wagon issues so far: 63k - check engine light came on and a line through the d on the instrument panel showed up, which acts like the car is in neutral. When trying to accelerate the car has no power. If you pull over, turn the car off and restart it then the car is back to normal. It has done this 4 times now in the past 2 weeks. 60k - a couple of months ago the window washer pump went out and I had to replace it. I did it myself and it still cost me $85. Front seatbelt acts like it latches but then comes back out (this problem was recalled). 40k - the air bag light is also lit up on the car.
2006 Suzuki Forenza.
2006 Suzuki Forenza. The check engine light keeps coming on. Also a "line" through the "d". Engines revs on acceleration, but acts as if in idle, then lurches forward. Has happened several times intermittently. Online research indicates this problem is widespread.
The contact owns a 2006 Suzuki Forenza. The contact stated that as she attempted to accelerate from a complete stop, the vehicle independently shifted into reverse. The shifter assembly gauge displayed that the vehicle was still in drive. The contact then applied the brakes and the vehicle was stopped. The contact stated that the failure occurred three additional times. The dealer was informed of the failure and stated that the range switch could possibly need replacing. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 57,900 and the current mileage was 58,140.
The contact owns a 2006 Suzuki Forenza. While traveling 45 mph, the contact noticed that the vehicle would no longer accelerate. However after restarting the vehicle, the contact noticed that the failure had corrected itself. Prior to the failure, the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the shift sensor was replaced twice. The vehicle had not been inspected or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000. The current mileage was approximately 158,000.
I own a 2006 Suzuki Forenza, the car has been nothing but problems, numerous trips back to the expensive dealership for repairs that just so happen to not be under warranty. My wife was driving on the interstate a couple of days ago and the car just stop going, she said it felt like the car just shut off. After pulling over on the side of the road, mind you now we have two small children, she called me and I told her to hold tight until I got there. It ends up being this transmission safety switch, which would you know is not covered under my powertrain warranty, pathetic. . . . . . . . . . . . . . This dealership and Suzuki are gonna keep nickel and dimming me until I am flat broke. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . Signed fed up with Suzuki !.
The driver owns a 2006 Suzuki Forenza. While driving approximately 45 mph the vehicle stopped accelerating. It decelerated and would only drive at speeds lower than approximately 20 mph. The service warning lights also began to illuminate on the dashboard. The vehicle was stopped and shifted into park; upon shifting it back into drive the vehicle operated as normal. The failure continued to recur and the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the transmission switch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. Approximately one month later, the failure began to recur while driving approximately 45 mph for an extended period of time. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and it was repaired. She also stated that both front door handles were fractured from the interior. The failure was not diagnosed. The failure mileage was 27,000 and the current mileage was 30,000. Updated 02/08/lj the consumer also stated the door handle snapped off the vehicle. Updated 04/21/11.
The contact owns a 2006 Suzuki Forenza. While driving at 50 mph, an unknown warning light illuminated and the vehicle was hesitant to accelerate. The dealer advised that transmission indicator would need to be replaced. There were no recalls for the failure. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure and current mileages were 113,000.
I have a 2006 Suzuki Forenza. I bought it new, off the lot in york PA from a Suzuki dealer. About 3 months after my purchase, the car began bucking and when I took it to the dealer, they could not find anything wrong. Over the last 3 years, the car has continued to buck on cold mornings and after sitting for more than 24 hours. The car now has approximately 59,000 miles on it. Then, last week, as I was driving, the car suddenly lost power. The engine light came on and the "d" (for drive) began flashing at me but it had a line through it, making it look more like an "8". I had to floor the gas pedal to get the car to accelerate. I immediately took it to a local dealer (not a Suzuki dealer). They found that the transmission selector switch was bad. Over the past several days, I have read of other peoples' stories, very similar to mine. Had this problem happened on the highway, I could have been in a serious or even fatal accident. I am now going to have to put out a great deal of money to get this problem corrected.
The contact owns a 2006 Suzuki Forenza. While driving 40 mph, the vehicle changed gears independently without warning. The failure began on January 9, 2010 and recurred three times within the weekend. The speed sensitive warning light illuminated after the vehicle changed gears. The contact was forced to shift the gears in drive 2 in order to drive forward. The vehicle will no longer shift into drive; however, the vehicle has to be driven in drive 3 to operate normally. The failure mileage was 37000.
Transmission range selector switch on the 2006 Suzuki Forenza is failing, and yet they do not consider this important enough to recall. Through searching, I have found many people who have complained about this switch going bad in their Forenza's. This switch is obviously defective, and initially would only "act up" about once a month, now it has progressed to once or more a week.
2006 Suzuki Forenza, brake sensor went out and car would not go out of park and into drive. I fixed that and then on December 19, 2009 I was drving down the highway and the car went out of drive and into neutral. I almost wrecked because I couldn't get the car back into drive to keep up with the flow of traffic. In a panic I put the car in 3rd gear and I was able to make it home. The mechanic has had the car for over a week trying to figure out what the problem is. This could have caused a serious accident.
When I first brought the car on 1/30/2006, it started giving me problems, such as not starting up, the engine light on and off all the time. The emergency brake light on constantly. The power windows rolling up and down by themselves. The power locks stop working and then work over and over again. When I'm driving, the car jerks and pulls all the time. (the pulling is coming from the transmission). I am a single mother of two and I feel real bad about getting stuck with a lemon. After I get out of school I take classes at night and my kids go to the daycare on campus when I picked them up after class, got in the car, started it up, and the front two windows rolled down by themselves, and would not roll up and it was snowing and we had to ride all the way home like that. The dealership doesn't care. As far as they are concerned, it is not their problem. It is a messed up world we live in where someone knows that you really need a car and they screw you with a lemon. Until this present day, all these problems described still exist but so do me and my son-3 and my daughter-6 if anybody can help, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Steering wheel malfunction - loss of vehicle control and drove off the road manufacturer and car dealership did not help multiple other defects, including engine stalling/gears "sticking" - please refer details in letter to be sent to your office by mail.

2006 Suzuki Forenza with safety issues regarding loss control and sticking and engine stalling* the consumer stated the gears would stick and she has experienced several steering component failures. To this date the steering problem still had not been addressed. One month after purchasing the vehicle, it would not start, the consumer had to wait 2 minutes before trying again. The consumer could not get the vehicle to go into reverse. There was a knocking noise coming from the vehicle, the dealer stated they lubricated the sway bar bushings. The noise eventually returned. The dealer then stated that they over-lubricated the sway bar bushings.
: the contact stated while depressing the brake the vehicle felt as if it was grabbing and while depressing the accelerator pedal it felt as if it was jerking. The vehicle was driven to the dealer who determined the computer in the transmission needed to be replaced.
: the contact stated while traveling 55 mph on the interstate, the transmission suddenly shifted from overdrive to first or second gear without warning. The rpm's on the speedometer increased drastically, and the contact let off the accelerator pedal. After the vehicle was slowed down to 25 mph, the transmission started shifting normally. The vehicle was taken to a service dealer, who determined the main processor had to be reprogrammed. The problem persisted after the processor was reprogrammed. The vehicle had been to the dealer 6 times for the same problem. The manufacturer was contacted and determined that this was not a safety defect, but gave the contact a rental car while the vehicle was being repaired.
