While driving the car on the highway the light for the engine came on and the car died. After being towed it was determined that the head was blown. After replacing the engine the light remains on and now there is a problem with the transmission. There is supposed to be a defect in a sensor for the transmission that keeps these problems happening in this vehicle.
Transmission went out after stopping at a stop light. This is the second time having transmission problems with this car.
When operating in drive position the vehicle went into neutral with loss of traction, drive power could only be restored by selecting drive position 3. There were several subsequent occurrences of the problem one of which nearly resulted in a rear end collision. A transmission repair shop diagnosed a neutral safety / transmission position switch failure. This appears to be a repeating complaint theme with this vehicle model. The occurrence is unnerving and could result in severe (potentially fatal) consequences.
Coming home from work, my transmission suddenly shifted into 3rd gear as well as my speedometer started bouncing. During this episode the cruise control began to drop out. A while later, about 2 miles, the engine lost power and I had to pull off the free way and got towed home. I googled my car situation and found that there have been numerous events as mine. Has Suzuki addressed this issue and if so, what is the fix?.
This Suzuki needs to be recalled altogether! no one should still be driving these. Not only can the headlights or brake light sensor switchs go bad and just stop working, they overheat, drain the battery, overwork the alternator, which then needs to be replaced, the fall displays every gear all at once even while in drive and displaying a speed the vehicle is traveling. The door handles brake off, so you can not escape the death trap. They have blown head gasket, many small oil leaks, tire pressure gage problems, tires/wheels won't align, this balds the tire lop sided so tire blow outs occur more frequently. Half the tone it won't even go, now or won't start at all. Many more issues with this vehicle, buyer beware, do not buy these cars!.
I am the owner of a 2007 Suzuki Forenza. As I was getting ready to travel across a bridge when the car appear to change gears even though the shift was in drive. I immediately changed the shift to 3rd gear and slowly made my way across the bridge. Had the car inspected, I went with the mechanic on test drive and it happened again. They diagnosed the problem to be the manual level position shift sensor. Car worked fine until about a month ago, it did the same thing. Now I drive very cautiously.
The contact owns a 2007 Suzuki Forenza. The contact stated while driving 35 mph, the vehicle stopped unexpectedly and the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact also mentioned that the gears shifted on their own. The failure was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 30,000.
It started havin a shift malfunction from 3 to 4 gear and now quite often just revs up instead of going, passenger seat belt often releases on its own, and the passenger airbag is constantly on.
When turning my car on and putting it into reverse, the car suddenly jerked and the check engine light came on. The "r" should appear for reverse on the dash, but all the letters ("p", "r", "d", etc) were scrambled together. The car drove in reverse and when I put it into drive, it jerked again and then would hardly accelerate. After driving it for a couple minutes, turning it off, and turning it back on, it would finally accelerate normally, but the check engine light would still be on and the gears would still jerk. The check engine light would go off after a few days and everything would be fine, but still the same problem happens again in a short term.
My first exp. With this problem happened as I was backing out of a parking space . I put the car in reverse and it went back, but I put in drive it would not move, so I put in 3rd gear and it move forward slowly until put in drive again and it worked. Second time a was driving about 40 mph and all of a sudden the car goes into neutral and I lose power , again I put in 3rd and power catches luckily no one behind me to slam into me. I took it to the dealer and asked if there had been a recall on this problem ,they said no but would check it out for 90 dollars! they could not reproduce the problem and didn't do anything. Third time tonight 1-20-13 im leaving work and the car gets me to the grocery sore alright, but leaving for home it goes from drive to neutral and no power again put it 3rd and I get home driving 15 mph . When trying to park it wont go into park I have to put in neutral ,turn key off and hand brake . Turned the car back on to see if it would work right and all I would get was a slash over the p and the d.
My check engine light came on to find that my transmission switch had gone bad causing it not to shift correctly. . . . Thinking no big deal, I took it to my mechanic. He said these transmissions were known as throw away transmissions. I came home and googled my problem to find numerous lower mileage Suzuki Forenzas with the same issue, some almost causing accidents. Please consider a mandatory recall on this part.
Brakes would not work at all! transmission will randomly not go anywhere (sometimes it works sometimes it dosent) I had to swerve out of the way into a persons yard so avoid an accident.
The contact owns a 2007 Suzuki Forenza. The contact stated that while attempting to accelerate, there was an increase in engine rpms, the check engine warning lamp illuminated and the transmission hesitated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 75,000.
The contact owns a 2007 Suzuki Forenza. The contact stated that while driving 40 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle also stalled while the contact was driving in reverse. The contact took the vehicle to a local mechanic. The mechanic replaced the throttle body but the repair did not remedy the stalling issue. The contact called the dealer and explained the failure. The dealer advised the contact that the transmission range switch was defective and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 69,108.
Trying to shift into gear the car jerks and the display blinks, not indicating what gear the car is in. The only gears that show are d and p. When trying to accelerate the car moves very slowly and doesn't go any faster than 35-40 mph. Diagnostic test show it is the tramsmission range sensor. I see that this is a common problem in this model vehicle and thinks it should be recalled and fixed at the expense of the dealer not the consumer. This car has only had problems from the beginning and the manufacturer needs to realize this and assume some responsibility for their product.
Tl- the contact owns a 2007 Suzuki Forenza. The contact was waiting for the traffic light to change and when pressing the accelerator pedal the vehicle drove into the intersect at a very lower rate of speed and would not accelerate. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the transmission was faulty. The vehicle was repaired but the failure reoccurred. No further information was available. The manufacturer was not notified of the failures. The VIN was not available. The failure mileage was 116,000. Jft.
Tranny slipping, paint peeling on car.
Purchased a 2007 Suzuki Forenza and problem I am having is having to step on brake padel quite a bit and hard just so that I could change gear from park to reverse. How to fix when only less than 2 years to pay off. Cannot afford to start on a new car note. Needing help.
2007 Suzuki Forenza. Gear shift is sticking. Upon starting car, proceeding to put car in reverse, gear does not move from p. Car has to be turned off, use key to press shift lock, put gear in n, start car, then move to r. Has been happening more frequent. Very annoying. Fearful that it may stick in r or d.
The contact owns a 2007 Suzuki Forenza. The contact stated that after shifting into gear, the vehicle would lunge forward abnormally with the illumination of the check engine warning lamp. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic who was unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance since the vehicle was no longer under warranty. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 55,000 and the current mileage was 90,000.
When you put the car in drive,it feels like the front end is going to fall. Then when you go, it doesn't shift into gears correctly. We had the part replaced the first time in 2009. Now its doing it again and they won't cover it under warranty. This seems to be a problem with these cars and should be recalled.
Power steering replaced, many tires replaced constantly, transmission replaced, timing belt replaced, seat belts replaced, air bags are in recall and need to be replaced, handles replaced, bad paint clippings on outer handles, co2 sensor replaced, headlight switch recalled and replaced, range mod sensor replaced twice, head gasket broken.
This is the 2nd time I have had issues with my car in regards to having to get the drive range sensor repaired; alot of Suzuki owners have also had this issue as well.
