1 Transmission Sensor problem

Failure Date: 11/07/2014

My daughter (16) was on the highway and the service road when out of no where the car started jerking and slowed speed. She then tried to accelerate and it drug. Instead of catching back up to speed it took a minute to reach the speed. And since then its been very hard to drive. We took it to shop they said I need a new transmission range sensor a brake light switch and an input and output system and a speed sensor. They also said this is a very common issue with Suzuki Forenza. But its very dangerous I do feel that this should qualify for a recall before someone get's killed. Is anyone only listen to these reports at all? marqhita.

2 Transmission Sensor problem

Failure Date: 04/15/2014

The contact owns a 2007 Suzuki Forenza. The contact stated that while traveling various speeds, the vehicle erroneously shifted out of drive. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic where it was found that the transmission range sensor needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not contacted about the failure. The failure mileage was 120,000. The VIN was unavailable.

3 Transmission Sensor problem

Failure Date: 03/04/2014

Vehicle slips out of drive when accelerating which causes it to lose power during highway driving. Seems to jump to neutral. Loss of speed and at the same time the engine will rev and rpm's will increase. This happens mostly on highway, sometimes on streets. This never happens when accelerating from a stop. This happened for weeks without a check engine light indicator on. Check engine light will only occur when reversing. Mechanic said the issue (p0700 and p0705) indicates a transmission sensor issue which is not covered under warranty. There are hundreds of Suzuki message forums and other complaints on this issue on the internet. I contacted Suzuki american headquarters and they claim to have no knowledge of this issue. This is a heavily hazardous issue that needs to be addressed before someone, hopefully not myself, dies.

4 Transmission Sensor problem

Failure Date: 11/15/2013

Car loses power during highway driving. Seems to jump to neutral. Loss of speed and at the same time the engine will rev and rpm's will increase. This happens mostly on highway, sometimes on streets. This never happens when accelerating from a stop. This happened for weeks without a check engine light indicator on. When the light came on the mechanic said the codes(p0700 and p0705) indicate a transmission sensor issue which is not covered under warranty. Mechanic said that there is a technical services bulletin on the issue but not a recall. There are blogs and other complaints on this issue on the internet. I contacted Suzuki american headquarters and they claim to have no knowledge of this issue. This a potentially dangerous issue that needs to be addressed.

5 Transmission Sensor problem

Failure Date: 09/13/2013

Transmission range sensor is horrible this will be the second time time to change this. First time was at 45000.

6 Transmission Sensor problem

Failure Date: 08/05/2013

The contact owns a 2007 Suzuki Forenza. The contact stated while driving 65 mph the engine light illuminated and the vehicle became sluggish. The failure recurred numerous times. A year prior to the failure the transmission range sensor was replaced. The vehicle was not repaired for the recent failure. The failure and current mileage was 50,000.

7 Transmission Sensor problem

Failure Date: 07/05/2013

Replaced the transmission range sensor 3 months ago and already going out. This will be the 3rd time replacing since I owned the car.

8 Transmission Sensor problem

Failure Date: 06/27/2013

The contact owns a 2007 Suzuki Forenza. The contact stated that while driving 70 mph, the gear independently engaged into neutral. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the technician diagnosed that the transmission range sensor needed to be replaced. The transmission range sensor was replaced however, the failure recurred months later. The manufacturer was notified about the failure. The failure mileage was 70,000 and the current was 80,000.

9 Transmission Sensor problem

Failure Date: 06/26/2013

Transmission range sensor has went out twice in a six month span.

10 Transmission Sensor problem

Failure Date: 06/25/2013

Tonight while driving 65mph on a major highway my check engine light came on. I didn't notice anything weird until I exited the highway and came to the first red light. When the light turned green and I pushed the gas, my car took forever to accelerate. This continued until I got home, where I checked the codes: transmission range sensor and transmission control sensor. I am ticked! last October (8 mos ago) I was driving about 35 mph in heavy traffic when my car seemed to fall out of gear and would not accelerate. After 11 days in the shop they found it was the transmission range sensor and replaced it. . . Now apparently it's broken again???!!! so I got online to look into it and I find this site with tons of complaints about this same problem. . . I guess no one cares until someone dies, and then maybe they will decide to make it a recall. . . This is ridiculous.

11 Transmission Sensor problem

Failure Date: 06/05/2013

I was on the highway when out of no where my car jerked and slowed speed. I almost got rear ended. I then tried to accelerate and it drug. Instead of catching back up to speed it took a minute to reach the speed of what was posted. And since then its been very hard to drive. I took it to shop they said I need a new transmission range sensor. They also said this is a very common issue with Suzuki Forenza. But its very dangerous I do feel that this should qualify for a recall. For a reference the Suzuki dealer sales the transmission range sensor for $38. 99 and the mechanic charged $25. 00 labor.

12 Transmission Sensor problem

Failure Date: 01/26/2013

3rd time problem with the transmission range sensor. Why can Suzuki get away with not having a recall for this dangerous problem?? how many people have to have the exact same problem before something can be done about it? will it take someone being killed? I doubt if even that will help motivate them to do the right thing.

13 Transmission Sensor problem

Failure Date: 01/12/2013

When I was in park I put it in reverse the car didn't recognize the car was in reverse and it had a line across it and check engine light came on. I put the car back in park and then was able to drive it, and the light went off, but the while driving the car the line will go across the drive and the car will no longer accelerate, which can be dangerous on the highway. I brought it into pepboys they said a transmission code was popped up, but they reset the codes, even though I didn't tell the guy to do that. Now the problem occurs but the check engine light doesn't come on. I brought it to a Suzuki dealership and they said they think it is a transmission sensor, but the diagnostic check said it was fine, and they said wait until the check engine light comes back on, but the problem now occurs without the check engine light coming on. But I'm scared to drive it on the road because at anytime I could lose power and be injured in a car accident. I had it towed to a local mechanic and hope they can repair it.

14 Transmission Sensor problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2012

The contact owns a 2007 Suzuki Forenza. The contact stated while driving 60 mph, the check engine warning light illuminated as the vehicle began to surge, shimmy and shake abnormally. The vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnosis and the contact was informed that the transmission range sensor would need to be replaced. The transmission range sensor had been replaced twice before the most recent diagnosis. The manufacturer had not been notified of the issue. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and the current mileage was 126,000.

15 Transmission Sensor problem

Failure Date: 11/11/2012

The contact owns a 2007 Suzuki Forenza. While parked, the contact attempted to place the vehicle into reverse but the vehicle stalled. The contact stated that the air bag, check engine and the seat belt warning lights were illuminated after the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing who advised that the transmission range sensor needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised that the vehicle was not included in any recall. The vehicle was repaired. The approximate failure and the current mileage was 50,000.

16 Transmission Sensor problem

Failure Date: 10/18/2012

While driving the car shuddered and check engine light comes on. I lost almost all power and needed to step hard on accelerator to make car move, especially from a stopped state. This is the same problem I had with this vehicle about 6 months ago. At that time the car was taken to a local mechanic and the engine code returned a problem with the transmission switch sensor. The sensor was replaced and the problem stopped until this recent issue. If I drive the car for a while the check engine light will eventually go out and the car drives fine. But in a day or two the problem occurs again. I need to get the sensor replaced again but it seems there are numerous reports of this same issue out there. I think this should warrant a recall.

17 Transmission Sensor problem

Failure Date: 09/29/2012

I could really use some assistance. I have a 2007 Forenza and yesterday as I was putting the car into reverse, it made a loud clunking noise. The gear selector display on the dash seemed to go haywire displaying all the letters (d, r, n, etc) with a diagonal line through it. It then went back to normal, then the "check engine" light came on. They hooked up the diagnostic computer and it came up with codes po700 and po705, which varies in wording but seems like it's the transmission range sensor. I have read that many other people have had the same problem. This is a problem that Suzuki should take care of a sensor cost to those who bought their cars.

18 Transmission Sensor problem

Failure Date: 07/15/2012

The contact owns a 2007 Suzuki Forenza. The contact stated that while in reverse, she noticed a loud clunking noise. The check engine light illuminated and while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would slip into different gears independently. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnosis. The mechanic stated that the transmission range sensor would have to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred three times. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.

19 Transmission Sensor problem

Failure Date: 06/11/2012

I have had two transmission range sensors put in my car and now it needs a third one. The last one the mechanic stated something is "burning up the sensor. " I also have issues with getting the key out of the ignition. My car now has 102,000 miles and I have had nothing but problems with it from day one. It seems there are a lot of transmission range sensor issues that people are having. The problem is this is a recurring issue. Like I said this is my third one. This should be a recall from Suzuki and they need to figure out what is causing these sensors to keep going out.

20 Transmission Sensor problem

Failure Date: 05/27/2012

The contact owns a 2007 Suzuki Forenza. The contact was driving 45 mph when the vehicle began to jerk and the gear shifted into neutral erroneously. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and was told that the transmission range sensor failed and would need replacing. The contact spoke to the manufacturer because the vehicle was under warranty, but the manufacturer would not include the cost of the repair under the warranty. The failure and the current mileage was 97,000.

21 Transmission Sensor problem

Failure Date: 03/27/2012

I just had this part replaced in January 2012 now 2 months later check engine light going on in the middle of driving. Went to autozone and guess what transmission range sensor again!!!!! I bought part from dealer in January and had my licensed auto mechanic put it in, now car doing exactly same thing it did in January car jerking into reverse , scrambled gear letters on dash board, this part is defective what do I have to do replace it every 2 months!!!! make it a recall already , I am not the only complaint!!!!.

22 Transmission Sensor problem

Failure Date: 03/19/2012

My transmission range sensor is malfunctioning. Prior to find out that this was actually the issue I internet search numerous complaints that this part is a failing part on my type of car (2007 Suzuki Forenza) and it has been reported. The dealer advised that because it wasn't on the recall list the part wasn't covered(I bought part from dealer and had different mechanic do the repairs). My frustration is that complaints have been received by Suzuki for this issue but it hasn't been placed on the recall list. What merits what goes on a recall list?.

23 Transmission Sensor problem

Failure Date: 02/23/2012

I have been reading about these 2007 Suzukis. The transmission range sensors is going out on my vehicle also. The mechanic also stated the throttle body was bad. Now I just had 1600. 00 worth of work to this vehicle, timing belt changed, new tires, oil changed etc. Suzuki needs to step up to the plate and recall these lemons!! the mechanic stated the throttle body was major but said he wasn't sure if it was covered under powertrain warranty. If Suzuki cannot guarantee their cars for less than 100'000 miles than I'll never buy another Suzuki! think I'll paint my canary yellow!!!!!!.

24 Transmission Sensor problem

Failure Date: 02/08/2012

The contact owns a 2007 Suzuki Forenza. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated on the instrument panel and the vehicle would not accelerate over 20 mph. The failure was recurring and the vehicle had been taken to the dealer numerous times. The dealer replaced the transmission range sensor each time but the failure would recur shortly after the replacement. The transmission range sensor had been replaced a total of six times. The dealer advised that the repairs were performed based on the electronic failure codes provided by the diagnostic machine. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for the most recent failure. The failure mileage was 40,000 and the current mileage was 85,000. . . Updated 05/10/13 updated 06/11/2013.

25 Transmission Sensor problem

Failure Date: 12/27/2011

My check engine light came on after I placed the car in reverse, it gave a big "thunk" sound. I turned the car off and restarted it. The check engine light is still on. When I went to the dealership to get a diagnosis and they said it was a transmission range sensor gone bad! $250 to replace. As you can see that there are a lot of customer complaints on the same issue but no recall. I have already had the brake light sensor replaced earlier this year and a power steering pump! not liking Suzuki right now!.

26 Transmission Sensor problem

Failure Date: 12/22/2011

The contact owns a 2007 Suzuki Forenza. The contact was driving 25 mph uphill when vehicle failed to accelerate despite the accelerator pedal being depressed. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection, where it was advised that the transmission range sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred after the repairs. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 92,000.

27 Transmission Sensor problem

Failure Date: 12/19/2011

Googled on website, and found lots of people complained that the transmission range sensor is broken prematurely, which clearly indicate the such part is a defective one. My such claim was also supported by what technician told me who fixed my car as they are authorized Suzuki service dealership. He told me there is around 4-5 fix for this part out of this model around this mileage. My car is still under powertrain warranty, but this part is excluded from such coverage. Suzuki should recalll this part and fix the problem for free of charge.

The approximate failure mileage was 30,000.

32 Transmission Sensor problem

Failure Date: 09/15/2011

Car was sputtering and hesitating. Check engine light came on. We took to mechanic and error p0705 transmission range sensor came up as the problem. Suzuki is aware of this ongoing problem and they are clearly ignoring the potential for a serious accident to occur by not recalling and rectifying the issue. Rather they are relying on their consumers to absorb the expense of this repair. My faith in Suzuki has definitely been shaken and this definitely will influence my decision to purchase another Suzuki or recommend Suzuki. It is time that Suzuki step up and admit their negligence, rectify the issue, compensate those who have absorbed the cost of this repair, and restore the faith in its consumers.

33 Transmission Sensor problem

Failure Date: 09/13/2011

35 Transmission Sensor problem

Failure Date: 08/24/2011

2007 Suzuki Forenza sedan. Bought the car two days ago. Today the check engine light came on and shifting into reverse caused a loud clunk followed by the digital gear indicator being scrambled rather than displaying r. When the car is in drive, it won't shift out of 3rd gear, so much less pickup than normal (which could lead to getting rear ended) and can't go over ~55 mph. The transmission range sensor is the problem. The corresponding error codes pulled were po700 and po705. After doing research online, it seems like this is a very, very common problem with the 2007 model.
