My lights do not work. The left head light dims or doesnt work at all and the right head light is completely broken. Ive changed bulbs multiple times and still nothing. If I put on my blinker while driving it will cut off the one light that kind of works. Using my brights while on the road may cut my lights on briefly.

The contact owns a 2005 Suzuki Forenza. The contact stated that the vehicle experienced a complete loss of power while driving through an intersection. The contact stated that the vehicle also experienced an issue with starting. The dealer (germain Toyota of naples, 13315 tamiami trail n, naples, FL 34110) was contacted, but the cause of the failure could not be determined. The manufacturer was notified. The contact noted that the vehicle operated as intended prior to being repaired per NHTSA campaign numbers: 14v262000 (exterior lighting) and 12v397000 (electrical system, exterior lighting). The failure mileage was approximately 33,000.
The vehicle is under a recall campaign (xa-xc) for drl module/ignition switch replacement. The owner is physically unable to get the vehicle to the nearest dealership for the repairs to be performed (he is prohibited by his physician to drive such long distances). Suzuki will not allow any other facility, no matter how well qualified, to perform the repairs. Suzuki offers no solution - like offering to tow the vehicle - aside from an offer to reimburse for fuel. I am a neighbor and can attest to the owner's physical limitations (he had a stroke). He is also elderly and from another country - so his comprehension of the issue is limited. He's worried the car isn't reliable enough for his daily trips to his doctor and voiced worry about his options to get it fixed. It is my hope the intervention of someone from the NHTSA might sway Suzuki to offer a variance from their policy - so they would offer to transport the vehicle to and from the nearest dealership for the repairs to be completed (since I was told a dealer must be the ones performing the repair).
Not sure if you can tell us what to do but we bout a 2005 Suzuki Forenza last April for our 18 year old for graduation and we only bout it for $1200 and was never told about a recall at all. Long story short my son was about to leave one night and within a matter of minutes of him leaving he runs in the house yelling his car is on fire so we ran out put the fire out and then looked it up and found a recall on the part that caught fire. Headlamp switch drl module. Thanks god he was not driving down the street or the other cars or house caught fire. So after I put in the ven number and find this info within a week we received a recall letter from Suzuki. Now my question is will this get paid for like the wiring that got burnt up and who pays to get it to another town to get fixed? if someone could lead me in the right direction that would be great I just really think we got screwed and my son really wants his car fixed.

Dear nhsta - I really appreciate your agency in the us and world. You do great work for the value of safety! so, I received safety recall notice in the mail from Suzuki and I called the Suzuki headquarters to find out where/how to get it fixed. They told me to call this 1 dealer in oahu since I am on oahu to get the recall repair done. When I called that specific dealer, the dealer refused to fix it stating that they didn't have all the equipment and tools or some other reason. All they could do was put my name on a list. Then, when I called Suzuki headquarters to confirm this inability to fix my recall, Suzuki repeated the dealer info and phone number and told me that my problem was something else. They didn't believe me when I told them the dealer wasn't fixing it! I told them that their process was not accurate and Suzuki headquarters stated that there was nothing they could do. The customer service agent at headquarters did not allow me to be transferred to higher management. The agent misheard me and put down wrong information in her notes. She ended by saying that they only fix headlamps. The recall notice said they are supposed to fix: headlamp switch, drl module, subharness, and circuit control at no charge! that's all I want changed - nothing more! no one on oahu or at Suzuki headquarters has given me any help fixing this recall. I don't wanna just junk the vehicle because this is a federal recall and it is federal mandate to fix the vehicle immediately (since this is my only vehicle). Help.

Driving home from work. Smelled something burning. Checked called mechanic. Drove into his garage. Called around for parts. Couldn't find any found switch in CA. Took time. No car. Replaced combination switch, head light module. Labor and installed head light module, combination switch and repaired melted wires. 6 hrs. For labor $70. Hr. Total amount w/ taxes $452. 03 this was before recall notice. And know parts to be found. Mother-in-law sending out the info. Received from Suzuki $89. 26. Not what we were hoping for.
On 11/11/2013 my car was parked in my driveway and caught fire (electrical) this is one of the recalls on this vehicle,(certain passenger vehicles, headlamp low beam or daytime running light (drl) function may be inoperative due to a melted splice pack on the wiring harness). I have had these problems with my vehicle the headlamp low beam and the daytime running light, would not turn on or off.
Headlamp just stopped working . I changed the relay then the fuse and also the light itself still not working I know there was a eall on the model of the year before, I can only assume that they used those parts for my car. .
The contact owns a 2008 Suzuki Forenza. The contact stated that while parked, the daytime running lights would not turn off and caused the battery to drain. In addition, the vehicle caught on fire. The approximate failure mileage was 59,000.
After my daytime running lights stayed on all night, my battery died and I had to have the engine jumped. I went along with my day, parked my car at the bus lot and went to work. After returning to the car, I smelled smoke. When I tried to pop my hood, I noticed the interior paneling under my steering wheel was black and melted. The hood would not pop open because the release lever was also melted. There was smoke damage on my windshield near the air/defrost vents and on anything sitting in my car. Lucky for me, I was not in the car when the fire occured and it was in a parking lot where no one was around to get injured. After having the transmission sensor replaced on the car 4 times before they replaced the entire transmission, I've realized there were electrical problems with this car long before the fire occurred. Many others have complained about a fire in this exactly make/model/year car. Suzuki should be ashamed for making such terrible cars and filing for bankruptcy right before the problem occurs so there is nothing to be done/no accountability.

Slips out of gear while driving, car stalls and cuts off during driving, only cranks up in neutral, air bag light stays on, check engine light go off after a repair then lights back up. Its frustrating to have to call road side assistance for a battery charge frequently when battery loses charge for no apparent reason.

Driving down interstate had smell coming from the dash like melting wires. Dash high/low beams stopped working, luckily daytime running worked but not good enough to see well at night periodically they will come back on for a few then cut back off. Most often they do not come back on at all and doesn't stay on long. . Afraid of fire or if working going out while driving and wrecking with my kids in the car. We purchased this car last year from a used car dealership and it was fixed under the recall or 07 in Jan 2008, called dealerships and Suzuki and they are telling me even though there is a new recall out for the same thing. . For 2004-2006 Forenzas manufactured between the dates of sept 2003 and March 2006 that my car that was manufactured 11/2005 doesn't fall under the recall? just need to know what to do since its obviously a manufacturer defect. Or if maybe some information was crossed and hopefully ours can be fixed under the recall .
Exterior lighting in August 2011 went to dealer ship to have the recall done for the headlamp low beam or daytime running light (drl). So now it?s June 2012 my headlamps and drl lights not working. Very thankful it didn?t go out on my when I was driving at night I seen me light look different. Went to have bulbs replace lights still not working. So the place I was at ran a test and found out that the wiring is melted so, they side they did have a recall on this. So went Toyota dealerships and they tell me that the wiring that is melted is not the same wiring that was in the recall for my car. Wow really so now I can?t drive my car at night. But my high beams works.
Dash lights went out in car. Checked fuse and no bad fuse. Went to drive the car and then noticed had no break lights, head lights, and windows did not roll down. I had high beams if I wanted to drive it while holding the light switch for the high beams. Had all fuses checked, and was then told it was in the wiring!!! car had been in the shop before for transmission range sensors. It seems to be one issue after another with this car all of a sudden. Tire pressure light come on for a few days then goes out for a few, and that is with new tires. Not very happy with this car at all. .
