Alternator/generator/regulator Problems of Suzuki Grand Vitara

SUV lost power while in traffic would not take gas took to dealer could not find problem two weeks later same thing had to get boosted three times to get to dealer they said it was alternator this could have caused an accident.

I noticed when I started my vehicle it started rough and that there were some warning lights on the dashboard. The battery,abs,and the 4x4 lights were flashing. As I proceeded to my destination which was about 23 miles,I noticed that the radio was shutting off and on, when I put the window down the radio completely shut off. That when I started to get concerned especially I was on the expressway. When I got off the exressway I noticed that my fuel light got on to where the needle was all the way down on empty, just as I was turning in to a side street with on coming traffic my vehicles engine just shut off in the middle of the road as I was turning. I then cruised in neutral to the side street where then I call for a tow truck. My vehicle is practically new only 4 year old and has 33,500 miles on it. Since I purchased my vehicle I took it to the dealership every 3,000 miles for complete checkup of the vehicle which is a 2004 Suzuki xl7. I did take my Suzuki to a mechanic and they found that the alternator went bad .

Vehicle purchased new in July 2007 would not start on two occasions in sept 2007 (mileage 3,700 first occasion and 3,924 second occasion). Suzuki sent someone to jump the car on sept 19th 2007, and towed it on sept 24 2007, the dealer took eight days to replace battery and alternator .

8/14/03 - 2003 Suzuki Grand Vitara, VIN js3td62vx34101235, purchased at Suzuki of des moines, po box 13377, des moines IA 50310, 515-270-5800. 1/13/04 - received recall letter regarding accelerator cable casing cap. 1/17/04 - had car repaired. 9/9/04 - headlights on at end of day when leaving work and battery dead. Jump-started car and took to dealer; notice smell of something burning. 9/21/04 - car finally fixed. Invoice states: drl lights stay on pulled inside and found light do not turn off but marker lights not on also noticed bcm flashing clock hooked up tech 2 and found code p1121 looked up code in book and run test had to remove bcm from dash to inspect ect wiring run test and bcm appears to be ok but found wire not giving proper reading disconnect relay and light still on disconnect high beam relay and lights go off checked and found high/low switch burnt ordered parts removed switch to replace and found wire connector is burnt extremely bad had to order wire loom to make repair used connector from new loom to repair separated most pins had to solder in 4 wires and secure re assembled and test working fine now. " 10/4/04 - received recall letter: "moisture can freeze in the fuel pressure regulator. 10/8/04 - had car fixed. Invoice states: scheduled appointment to fix timing cover which is leaking. 10/9/04 - NHTSA office web site has recall I havent been notified about and need to make sure it doesn't involve my vehicle: windshield.
