I bought this car used one year ago and have had to change the low beam lights twice and now they are out again. At night I drive with the high beams on and they are so weak no one can tell. Last month the engine started surging making the car try to take off wether in neutral, park or drive. I have to hold the brake very strongly to keep the car from taking off. This is extremely dangerous for obvious reasons and someone is going to get seriously hurt or killed because Suzuki will not acknowledge or fix this problem. This will be my last Suzuki product ever. I can't afford to get another vehicle right now so I'm having to drive this nightmare daily.

My 2006 Suzuki Grand Vitara has blown at least 4 head lights since I bought the vehicle. Suzuki says that there is a problem with the transistor to the lights,in that it gives too much power to the lights, thus causing it to blow prematurely. They have not issued a recall, Suzuki needs to do something ASAP!!.
When I push on gas it doesn't excellerate. Make a grinding noise on lower drivers side of engine. I smell something burning.

When car was initially started, after few minutes of warm up time, heat was activated and no heat was dispersed. Began driving, despite no heat. Within 1 mile traveling less that 15 mph, the temparature gage increased to the highest level, still without heat in car. (picture 1) as speed increased, temperature gage rapidly fluctuated and esp warning lights illuminated on dash. (picture 2) pulled off highway immediately following warning lights, engine found to be smoking. Diagnosed with engine crack. , crack sealed for temporary function, within days of seal, same symptoms as previously stated, but total system shut down following esp warning lights. Acceleration halted, power steering went out and brakes difficult to work. After sitting off, car unable to start.

The contact owns a 2008 Suzuki Grand Vitara. While driving 50 mph, the headlights and daytime running lights failed and turned off, one shortly after the other. The contact replaced the bulbs several times, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to Suzuki of green brook (101 us-22, green brook township, NJ 08812) who stated that both headlight assemblies needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who noticed that the adapter, sockets, and fuses were all burned due to a high electrical current flowing into the assemblies. The adapters, sockets, and head lamps needed to be replaced. The mechanic did not know how to repair the underlying electrical issue. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that they could not assist or escalate the case. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.

The headlights, parking lights and brake lights burn out constantly. Major safety hazard. I have had to replace the headlights, parking lights and brake lights every 3-4 months for the 3 1/2 years we have this vehicle. Very careful with bulb handling and installation. Bulb connections appear to be burned and melted.
I bought my 07 Suzuki Grand Vitara in 2008. Since I have owned this vehicle I have had to replace the low beam headlights about every 3-4 months. The lights even after being replaced will flicker and turn off. I have to open the hood and wiggle the light to come back on. The connectors on the headlights have become overheated and mealted. Once while driving I smelled smoke, after opening the hood I realized it was the headlight. I have been pulled over several times because my headlight(s) have turned off while driving. I have had to drive multiple times with the high beams. Also the low beam headlights are so dim I can barely see a yard infront of my vehicle while driving. These are all serious safety hazards and even life threatening if the headlights were to catch fire.

Tl- the contact owns a 2007 Suzuki Grand Vitara. The contact stated that there was a progressing failure in which the low beams failed to work. The contact had to constantly use the high beams each time the failure happened. The contact was to check with the manufacturer to determine if a dealer may be able to inspect, diagnose and repair the vehicle to prevent the failure. The approximate failure mileage was not available. Dyd.
Bought this in April 2014 with 30k miles, have replaced both low beam headlights 4-5 times each, also beams are low visibility.
12/31/15 -- outside temp approx 8 deg f, vehicle defroster failed to actuate, windshield froze over internally worse & worse, finally resorted to use ice scraper on inside of windshield while driver continued on state hwy. Heated air was coming out dash vents, floor, but not a whiff from defroster. Was on the way to a hospital, kept driving til about 12 miles along suddenly defroster vents actuated, blowing heated air like crazy. But had I not been along, spouse would have been hard-pressed to safely pull off or get to surgery appointment. Since heat was blowing out of other vents, indicates actuator fault. Problem not diagnosed, not sure if temp. -related or intermittent fault. In snowstorm or at night could have become really serious event (recently purchased used, not sure of history) 124000 miles.
I had been problems with the front headlights, I had two tickets as results of this problems. I had replaced them at least 6 times a year. Also a lot of problems with the heat and cooling. I recently replace all the components from pump, radiator, thermostat and the last one heating cord more $4000. 00 for a 2010. Make no sense at all. And the worst is that we do not have any support from the zusuki. Bad purchases on this car.
The headlight bulb burns out every 2 months and has to be replaced. This has been an issue since the car was purchased new. I am the second owner, and bulbs burn out every 2 months. There have been no accidents in this vehicle aside from minor fender bender in the rear of the vehicle.
My car can't seem to just blow 1 headlight , both go out at same time taking with it a small light as well. I have had the car for a little over 2 years and this is the second occurrence where the same thing has happened.
Changed low beam head lights last year. Both went out again at exact same time when starting. Lights don't due that saw a bulletin about a switch or modulator, looking for a recall & don't know if it's the lights only or a switch.
I am having problems with front low beam headlights, have had to replace them four times in the last year and half. It also affects the interior light of the vehicle and the climate control panel making the heat/cool controls unable to work properly. And the fuel door release lever doesn't open the fuel door.

Vehicle sitting in drive. Started vehicle put in reverse and backed out of drive. Put vehicle in drive and it went dead but was rolling. . . No control, power steering out no brakes. . Let vehicle roll to end of street and pressed harder on brakes and it stopped. Put vehicle in park. . Turned off switch. . . Attempted to start again and put the vehicle in drive and the engine stopped running again. Turned the air off and restarted the engine and put in drive and it ran but the gas pedal was more sensitve than usual got to the house and put in park and put on e-brake. Waited for a couple of hours and started the engine and tried to release parking brake but it would not release. Turned the air on with car running and it died again without shifting into drive. Restarted the car and put in reverse to see if it would die again and tthe car tried to die so I put in park and cut the engine off and parking brake would still not release.
The vehicle would randomly performing in very odd manners such as stalling while driving down the highway, electrical systems (lights, stereo, etc) turning off and on randomly, reducing speed ignoring accelerator position as well as many others. Several visits to different mechanics found no issues with the vehicle. While sitting on the side of the road at one point waiting for a tow truck I noticed that the passenger floor was soaking wet and we had not had rain for many days. After doing my own investigating I found that the drain pan for the a/c condenser is located inside the car behind the stereo just to the left of the glove box. The drain pan has a hose that routes through the firewall and drains onto the ground from under the hood. This drain hose became clogged and as a result all of the water from the a/c condensation was overflowing and draining directly onto the ecu and then onto the passenger floor. This water was causing the ecu to misbehave which was creating a dangerous situation but by time the vehicle was taken to a mechanic the water had dried and the car was behaving properly. Once the drain hose was cleared there were no further problems. After checking on some Suzuki forums I found a couple others that had the same situation arise. It's a fix that takes less than a half hour and requires no parts but not one that mechanics know about and creates a dangerous situation with the computer acting unpredictably and frequently causing the car to stall in the middle of the roadway.

I received a recall notice regarding the air bags malfunction in the early part of 2014. In fact my air bag light stays on and will not turn off. I took my car to the recommended dealer, and waited 3 hours, while the dealer (big red) tried to sell me another car for all that time, only to be told 3 hours later that they didn’t have the part to repair this problem. This was done in March 2014 and to date - July 2014 as of this letter, I still haven’t been notified that they ever received the part, so this condition remains unfixed. Report receipt date: Sep 06, 2013 NHTSA campaign number: 13v405000 component(s): air bags could you please also help me with this, I noticed that I have replaced the same head lights over 4 times in one year, the last time the light went out the gentleman at o’reily’s showed me that the headlamp switch was burnt, and told me there must be some electrical problem with the switch and to be very careful. I did read where there are recalls for problems with overheating headlamp switch and module that poses a risk of fire. Please help me with these issues, where I can go to get these things repaired, and not just waste my time with a dealer who is just trying to sell cars and not fix the recalls, by the way I did call before I came and scheduled an appointment, so they knew what I came for and they told me to bring the car in for the recall of the air bag situation. Lastly do you think it is possible that my transfer case has anything to do with the power train recall? currently my car is still under dealer warranty so they are covering this repair, I was just wondering if you knew if these problems maybe related. Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated! report receipt date: Dec 07, 2007 NHTSA campaign number: 07v554000 component(s): power train.
The bulbs in my headlamps constantly need replacing. I have replaced them on average twice a year since I purchased the vehicle, which has increased in frequency the last two years to 5 month intervals. I have a standing relationship with my electrician/mechanic, who almost knows me on a first name basis. He never finds anything wrong, in terms of a short in the wires. . . . . Just continues to change the bulbs and pocket my money. This last time both bulbs blew out within a week of one another. There was one instance when I was unaware that a bulb had blown and incurred a "fix it" ticket. There should definitely be a recall for this issue, as I suspect there is either a short or outright flaw in the electrical system.
2010 Suzuki Grand Vitara. Consumer writes in regards to tension adjuster pulley recall notice. The consumer stated he received a recall stating the tension adjuster pulley for the drive belt was improperly manufactured. The consumer paid for the part and had his local mechanic to replace the defective part. Customer service, informed the consumer Suzuki would not reimburse him for the incurred cost. The consumer was also informed, the parts were not available regarding the air bag recall.
I lost both my headlights at the same time. The fog lights automatically came on, but by the next morning I had neither. Fog lights finally returned. Every time I hit a bump in the road the interior lights come on and off. I have to make sure when I exit my car the interior light goes off as I have had to turn it off manually as not to run my battery down. I received a recall notice regarding air bag and electrical but I feel there is more going on in the electrical . It cost me over a $100 last time for the headlights.
The low beam headlights in our Suzuki Grand Vitara went out completely. I have had problems before with a single bulb burning out which I replaced. They are burning out much more rapidly now and becoming a constant problem of having to replace the low beam headlights. Now, both low beam headlights stopped working the other day as we were driving back at night which forced me to use my high beam headlights to get home safely. I have researched online and have seen that this is a common problem many Suzuki owners are having but Suzuki is refusing to acknowledge it and put out a recall on the issue.
Tl- the contact owns a 2011 Suzuki Grand Vitara. The contact stated NHTSA campaign number 11v055000 electrical system repair was performed; however, the failure was not corrected. The steering wheel made a loud squeaking and rattle noise while making a left or right turn. The vehicle was taken to the mechanic for inspection, which located the failure at the tension control pulley. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 72,000 and the current mileage was 75,000. Rvk.

The vehicle was parked in a store parking lot and when I started the car put it in reverse and then in drive to exit the parking lot. When on the street the car went across the street I put my foot on the gas and it stalled. When I my put my foot on the gas to go forward it didn't respond. I then put ithe car in park and the car jumped forward three times on its own and then stopped repeating this again, but not a third time because I shut the car off. Then I restarted the car. I was able to coast with hazards on to my house under 10 mph. O shut it off and called the auto mechanic. The throttle sensor went. So my car now soys at the station awaiting a new sensor while I am without a means to get to work. This could have caused a serious accident as I crossed the street because cars were comjng.
Low beam head light burns out constantly ~4 months. Replaced them at least 8 times since purchased new.
Headlights constantly burn out. I have to change the low beams every couple of months and I am beyond tired of it. Suzuki knows that this is an issue, but refuses to issue a recall to fix it. I will never buy another Suzuki vehicle again. They aren't even selling them in the us, so I guess I won't have to worry about getting another one.

I have a 2006 Suzuki Grand Vitara. I have changed the driver's side low beam bulb four times and the passenger's side two times. I recently replaced the fan motor twice and the resistor once. I had to replaced the erg after my check engine light came on. Now they are saying there is exhaust in my coolent system. The only part the warranty cover was one fan motor.
I have just entered the mileage of the last time this problem happened. My 2008 Suzuki Grand Vitara keeps blowing the headlamp bulbs. I have replaced it more than 10 times which is obviously abnormal since most of the cars uses the same bulb even for years. As I can see in internet forums this is a common problem between Suzuki owners and Suzuki has done nothing to correct this problem. I consider this a safety issue. Please help.
The contact owns a 2006 Suzuki Grand Vitara. The contact stated that a strong chemical odor released from the vents. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who performed a diagnostic and located the failure at the blower switch. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and the current mileage was 139,000.
"airbag" light on and clock/temp display flashes. This symptom was reported to Suzuki motors USA as a safety concern soon after the vehicle began selling because the front passenger side airbag might not deploy in case of an accident. Suzuki motors USA acknowledged the problem and made available a new "adjuster set front right" for replacement. Suzuki motors will not replace the bad component, it is requiring customers to pay the 1hr labor + $1500 part cost for vehicles that are past the factory warranty (36 months, 100k miles). The cost to correct the safety problem should be paid Suzuki motors USA.
