Car is having trouble when switching into gear as well as reverse and driving is very slow and restrained. The problem is so often on forums, it is strange this has not been recalled. Expensive to fix and seems to be a manufacturing fault/cheap part. Auto scanner said part is the transmission sensor.
There is a fume that smells toxic. I have had a new valve cover gasket and a cabin filter put on this car but the fumes persist. I think they are bad for my health because the effects stays with me long after I'm out of the car, my breathing/chest just doesn't feel right. I just don't know what to do. I've taken it to several mechanics and the claim they can't find anything. However I know I smelled them before having the above mentioned work performed and I still do. Please tell me what I can/should do.

I bought my 2006 Suzuki Reno in 2008 with approx. 41000 miles on it. My car is currently approx. 90000 miles but the issue started happening around the 83000 mile mark. I was on the highway when all of a sudden, it felt like my car shifted into neutral while driving and went from 70mph to 30mph almost immediately. After that first instance, the car continually bangs into gear from park to reverse. It drives fine for a few minutes but then it continues to erratically shift into neutral while driving. Researched online about problem and seems numerous others have the exact same issue with Renos as well as forenzas. Transmission range sensor faulty. Please recall, it is extremely dangerous.
The contact owns a 2006 Suzuki Reno. The contact stated that his vehicle lost power multiple times intermittently. The failure would last approximately 5-10 seconds and then function normally again. The contact was concerned about the failure occurring on the interstate, which could pose a severe safety risk. He took the vehicle to the dealer and they could not determine the cause of the failure. The current mileage was 15,000 and failure mileage was 1,500. Updated 02/05/09. Updated 02/10/09.
