Suzuki SX4 owners have reported 22 problems related to seats (under the seats category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Suzuki SX4 based on all problems reported for the SX4.
The airbag sensor in the passenger seat failed. There is a known supplemental restraint system issue/recall in 2007-2011 Suzuki Sx4s, however there has not been a recall for the 2012 model despite this being an issue beyond the aforementioned years. Affected vehicles may develop an electrical circuit disconnection within the front passenger sensing system sensor mat that is built into the front passenger seat bottom cushion. The disconnection is due to repeated flexing of the sensor mat from use of the front passenger seat. If this condition occurs, the “air bag” light in the instrument cluster and, the front passenger’s seat belt reminder light will come on. Also, the “pass air bag off” indicator light will remain off because the front passenger air bag will remain enabled. In a frontal impact of significant magnitude, the front air bag will deploy with full force - even with a child, or small adult, in the front seat. Air bag deployment with a child or small adult in the front passenger seat increases the risk of severe injury or death to that occupant. Replacement front seats are backordered, likely because of the recall in 2007-2011 vehicles, and despite placing an order for a new seat in may 2023, I have been waiting 9 months for a pallet to ship from Suzuki. Given the danger of traveling with a passenger given the vehicle's condition, and the fact that this was a known issue for the 5 prior years of this vehicle, this is an unacceptable amount of time to wait for a replacement part, and this should be investigated as a potential necessary recall for 2012 Suzuki Sx4s.

The passenger side seat sensor has failed to register a passenger and communicate with the computer. This will cause the airbags to not deploy and can seriously injure the passenger. Suzuki was notified and refuses to repair the issue. Instead they want over $2000 for a new seat. Years 2007 - 2011 had the same issue and was recalled for the exact same thing. Please make them accountable and do a recall for this.

Dashboard airbag warning light comes on and stays on. Dealer reset it twice, still on, meaning airbag is not functional. Dealer wants to start repair by replacing wiring harness in seat, then the airbag module, if that doesn't work. Claims vehicle is out of warranty for this work. I believe it is a safety issue that shoudl be addressed by manufacturer. Please advise. Thanks,.

The front passenger airbag warning light comes on intermittently. There is a known recall of the 2009 Suzuki Sx4 for a problem with the sensor in the right front passenger seat. I bought this car as a used vehicle in December 2013. I have attempted to contact Suzuki motor of America directly by two separate letters to inquire about having the necessary repair made; also I have called three designated dealerships that handle Suzuki warranty repairs in orlando, tampa, and st. Petersburg, FL to inquire about the status of the recall. I have received no response from Suzuki motor of America, and the dealers know nothing about the status of this recall, other than verifying that my vehicle is one of those affected by the recall. I am concerned that, should this vehicle be involved in an accident with a passenger in the front passenger seat, that the airbag will not deploy as it should, thus potentially leading to a serious passenger injury. I would like assistance in getting Suzuki to follow through with the recall repairs for this defect.
Recieved a vehicle recall notice--13v405000. That here was a defective air bag seat switch. I called the dealer and was told to wait for a second letter, called Suzuki and was given the same run around. How long does it take. If this switch fails the air bag will not work and someone could be injuried. This is going on six months now. The car is listed under my wifes name.

The sun melted my seat and shifter area here in florida. I in form Suzuki corp. But they refuse to reply to the issue even after submitting photos and going to the dealership . I am also very concern about fire starting in the car as the sun melted the inside could as well start a fire. The car is under warranty and Suzuki refuse is to reply.
Passenger air bag sensor is bad. Sensor is on and nobody can tell me why except to buy a new seat. I already replace the drivers seat due to same issue.
Air bag sensor failure on passenger side front seat.
This issue started way before today, but the air bag sensor light came on probably in the fall of 2011 along with the passenger seat belt light. We moved to a small town and before getting two new tires we went to the service station only to find out it was closed but I need to get my inspection reinstated so I can go to class and work and if Suzuki knew about all these issues with the air bag sensor one would hope that it would warrant a recall. I love my Sx4 but ever since I got it has had many issues with it, more so than my husbands car which is a 1999 Ford mustang.
The air bag light use to turn off by re fasting my seat belt but now stays on all time and my car has 40k miles and I cant get an inspection sticker because of this ,I took it to repair and the dealer want more than $2k to fix this, in the mean time I can't use the car because is not safe and it has not inspection sticker this is happening to alot of people is clearly a fault on Suzuki,s air bags systems.
The contact owns a 2008 Suzuki Sx4. The contact stated that the passenger side air bag and seat belt lights illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was informed that the front passenger seat needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The contact expressed concern over the possibility of the air bag deploying without warning. The failure mileage was 44,000.
The airbag light is consistently on and when I took it to the dealer I was informed that it's the passenger seat that is causing the light to be activated. Why should I have to pay the dealer approximately $2000. 00 to replace the passenger seat after the warranty ran out? Suzuki should be held responsible if someone is hurt or possibly killed if there is an accident and the airbag isn't activated, because of a seat mat that they placed in the vehicle on the passenger side. It seems that other driver's of Suzuki Sx4 cars have the same problem.
Passenger side air bag sensor indicates the module needs replaced. Cost to repair in the $1000's. Contacted Suzuki's customer service to utilize customer assistant program, they offered no help in paying for huge expense. It is my understanding that there are others Suzuki customers experiencing the same problem with the same result. My complaint t Suzuki is rated high in safety ratings and I wonder why the component is not covered by warranty, and how in good faith can they claim #1 safety ratings, when in fact if I were in an accident the passenger side air bags may or may not deploy? is this legal? I want this problem documented so that myself and others my benefit from the information.
2007 Suzuki Sx4: naguabo, pr. Air bag light and front passenger sensing system indicators stay on. Took to dealer, computer reset done. Lasted only 4 days, air bag sys fault lights on again. Taken back to dealer, service dept said the front passenger seat air bag sensor was faulty. Mileage 54,442 not covered under warranty. Over $2,000 to fix issue. This must be a factory defect that somehow appears after your warranty expires. This is a safety issue.
After 60,000 miles the airbags light comes on and passenger seat belt light comes on. Dealer states that passenger seat cushion needs to be replaced. A lot of Suzuki owners have the same problem after 60,000 miles. This is a safety hazards. Here is a link to the issue. This issue should be recalled. . Read more...
The contact owns a 2008 Suzuki Sx4. The contact stated that when a passenger sat in the front passenger seat the air bag indicator light illuminated on the dashboard which means the air bag would not deploy in the event of a crash. The seat belt indicator light also illuminated on the dashboard. Both lights continued to illuminate and the vehicle was eventually taken to an authorized dealer, where the indicator lights were reset. The failure recurred moments after the lights were reset and the vehicle was taken back to an authorized dealer. The contact was informed the passenger seat bottom needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not serviced. The failure mileage was 50,000 and the current mileage was 66,000. .
Tl- the contact owns a 2007 Suzuki Sx4. The contact stated that the passenger side air bag warning light and the passenger side seat belt warning light remained illuminated. The air bag warning light would illuminate even when the passenger seat was occupied. The contact was told by the manufacturer that there was no way of knowing whether the air bag would deploy in the event of a crash. The contact had been dealing with the failure for four years and had not been offered an adequate repair. The manufacturer sent a good faith extension letter to the contact that stated that the sensor could be repaired for up 10 years or 120,000 miles. The failure mileage was 60,000 and the current mileage was 130,000. Kmj.
We purchased a 2008 Suzuki sx 4 this past summer, I love my car and this is my first new vehicle. However, my complaint when I open the door, rain water hits the upholstery and it leaves spots, which this is very disheartening and displeasing to the eyes. I feel that we have given a lot of money for this vehicle and also trying to conserve gasoline. The only way to get rid of the spots is to shampoo the material. Which I have had to purchase a shampooer. And then when it rains again you are in the same boat of having to clean it ! the dealer has put the scotch guard on this vehicle twice, they (Suzuki dealer) said this is all they can do. They suggested I fill a complaint. They said eventually there will be a recall. What do you suggest? thank you for taking the time to read my complaint. I hope soon and very soon you will fix this problem.
