Five problems related to radio/tape cd player have been reported for the 2015 Tesla Model S. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Main touch screen wont turn on. . . Mcu, or now both screens are turning off and on and off and on, blinkers wont work , speedo wont work, radio, ventilation, basically everything wont work while this is happening, ( but you can still drive. I have a video but not the correct file type.
Mcu1 failed in vehicle with ~47,000 miles. This failure impacts use of all features on the touchscreen, including backup camera, radio, a/c, maps, etc. Car is still operational, but turns on slowly.
Main display stopped working today (June 30th 2020). Now hvac, radio, sunroof, rear camera, indicator light noise, and a few other functions don't work. This seems to be the emmc memory write failure issue. The car was stationary when I noticed the issues, since I just got into the car and immediately noticed main display was dead.
Tesla screen went completely black and will not come on. No back up camera, no turn signal, no radio, no a/c. This happened one morning when I went to turn the car on. Have tried reset. Made an appointment with Tesla to repair but in the process of researching problem, have found this to be a known failure of many Tesla's between 2014-2017. It is a safety hazard and Tesla should be doing a recall. I am afraid to even drive my car to the service center for repair that is 15 miles from my home.
Center touchscreen went black. All controls weren't usable or functioning like ac, heating, radio, guidance maps and navigation, charging door port wound open, charging slows to take days and days to charge the car; literally most features on the car. Repair cost $2,326. 44 on 4/28/2020 car was in our garage. Stuck between computer updating. This is a known Tesla issue they have known for a long time. Memory chip mcu gets filled with info and the car's computer stops working. All early Model S and x 2012 to 2017 are experiencing this issue after a few years of ownership.
