I was slowly moving into a parking space in front of a supermarket when the car suddenly accelerated, hit the concrete parking space block in the front of the parking space, jumped the curb, and glanced off the corner of the supermarket building before turning 90 degrees and stopping. The entire incident literally took seconds. All the air bags deployed, and the insurance company has totaled the car. The accident was caught on the supermarket's surveillance cameras.
I took my 3 year old son to the Tesla showroom in fashion island newport beach CA. My son sat in the 3rd row trying it out, then he tried to exit from the side. Then he accidentally pressed on the button on the second row seat. The seat moved back smashing his head against the side of the door. His whole head and neck and shoulder was stuck inbetween the seat and the side of the door for over a minute, until we were able to pull him out of there. He got bruises on the cheek, and left ear was bright red from the impact.
I've owned this car for 3 years. First four months I had to change out screens 3 times. Still having issues with screen non stop. Every time I bring in they say they fixed or replaced. Still not working and dangerous when it just goes blank!! it turns off idle and when moving. . . Scary when moving!!.
I state that Tesla new about Tesla enhanced autopilot system malfunctioning long time ago but did not do anything to prevent accidents. Monday, September 5, 2017 at 2:27-2:28 pm my Tesla enhanced autopilot system malfunctioned. I was driving on left lane of a straight part of I-280 north without any turns at that moment, with clear view and no vehicle in front of my car. After using autopilot for 20 min my car suddenly moved left and then immediately moved to the right. I was holding hands on the wheel and took wheel control. In 2 minutes after restarting autopilot, my car moved suddenly left and then right, moving to the right lane. I took control quickly, but the only reason the accident was avoided because the driver of SUV on the next lane. He hit the brakes and changed lanes to escape the accident. I reported to Tesla service requesting a full investigation and uninstall autopilot system from my car. My car was in their service for a month. Finally, they did not denied that my car had changed lines on autopilots system without warning but stated that the 'car had worked as designed '. I requested a computer log for my car but was told that I could get it only though a court order. I received my car back and never used autopilot system again. I am a doctor and feel that I am obligated to report Tesla to you to safe somebody life and to prevent new tragedy.
My car is under warranty and the mcu is failing. I asked Tesla about changing the chip or replace the unit with the mcu2 unit they refused to do either. I have 49500 on the car in less than 500 miles I'll be out of warranty and I can't at this time afford to fix this problem. I have recently had to reboot the unit several times to work and it's getting slower and slower. I'm afraid soon like many other Tesla models it will go dead at my expense.
