2 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2017 Tesla Model X

Failure Date: 03/12/2023

When autopilot is engaged, the car randomly decelerates on the highway. This has happened multiple times. I have tried to report this to Tesla but to no avail. They tell me the following: 1. They are unaware of any issue 2. Then, it is my specific car's problem and not a design issue and they will not fix it without charging me over a $1100 3. When I asked them what the issue is, they said they don't know and want me to provide to the minute detail on when the incident happened. 4. That I should stop using autopilot (which I paid for) because it may be unsafe for me to use. When I point out that their statements are conflicting with each other, they ignore me. I have tweeted about this to elon musk as well to NHTSA and I am hoping that someone will notice this and help me get this fixed.

3 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2020 Tesla Model X

Failure Date: 04/17/2022

Had failure of leaking coolant fluid in my Model X. First time occurred November 2021. Second time April 2022. Both times the 3&4 way values failed and started leaking fluid which disabled my vehicle. This is the 3rd time in 1 year that I’ve gotten the low coolant leak warning. This is a real problem and I’m concerned since my warranty is running out soon. The 3&4 way value shouldn’t last less then 6 months.

4 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2016 Tesla Model X

Failure Date: 03/02/2022

The car started giving error messages of systems failing one after another on the highway. It slowed down instantly as if someone pressed the brakes and I could not accelerate. Obviously I did not press the brakes. There were a lot of vehicles behind me and this could have easily caused an accident putting a lot of people at risk. I had to get off the highway ASAP and get the car towed. The error messages included charge port disabled, automatic emergency braking is disabled, power reduced, traction control disabled, stability control disabled, cruise control disabled, power reduced. Tesla diagnosed and confirmed this being an issue with the onboard charger being faulty and replaced that with charge port itself for a total of $3727. 60. They refused to cover any part of this which I think should have been taken care of by the company.

8 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2016 Tesla Model X

Failure Date: 08/12/2021

I had my Tesla Model X mcu replaced per the recall. Prior to having the mcu replaced I had numerous (more than 20) episodes of the car just shutting down and losing all power and would not restart for anywhere from 3 to 20 minutes. Many times after the vehicle would restart the main control screen would remain black, there would be no access to any of the controls usually accessible there. Other times there would be no navigation, radio or hvac available. When reporting these issues I was told to keep trying to reboot that it was a known software issue. When the recall was finally announced I checked frequently for appointments for a replacement chip which were not abundantly available. When I was finally able to get an appointment for the recall, the service center assured me that the replacement mcu would make things better but I also had the option to upgrade to a better chip for $2k but lose many options like fm and xm radio, which I use. Since the mcu replacement I have continued to have these same issues and my phone will no longer pair with the vehicle to provide the hands free use I had previously. I have worked with Tesla to try to resolve these issues and I am told by their technicians that this is a known software issue that is happening to "older" model s and Model X vehicles and there is no current projection as to when this will get resolved as it is on the back burner. My car is a 2016 with 40k miles! how is this ok? how is this not a safety issue? today the car went completely dark/dead while I was driving!!! luckily I was driving in a parking deck and there was no resulting accident. I have called Tesla customer service and messaged the local service center to report these issues multiple times. Even the corporate customer service rep has difficulty reaching them directly. It is so sad to have such a nice vehicle with issues like this. We have talked about trading it in but ethically cannot fathom passing these known issues on to someone else.

9 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2017 Tesla Model X

Failure Date: 08/09/2021

Our SUV lost power in the middle of the highway with no warning. After a month of back and forth, Tesla is saying that the high voltage battery needs to be replaced. The car has been with Tesla marietta, GA center waiting for the replacement part with no eta. How long are we supposed to allow the manufacturer to address the problem per the manufacturer warranty.

10 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2017 Tesla Model X

Failure Date: 01/01/2021

Car shudders at the acceleration. Service center said it’s a widely known issue with front half shaft and clevis mount. Tesla already admits it is a design fault but wouldn’t cover it under the drive unit warranty. Can NHTSA make it a recall? thanks.

11 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2018 Tesla Model X

Failure Date: 10/09/2020

Tesla Model X dies two times. 1) at apx 1k miles (within 3 months of new purchase of new vehicle, 1st owner), it died on freeway with no power and stopped. Due to spacing from the rear card, no accident occurred and hence no fatality. Tesla service center found nothing with this issue. No resolution on diagnosis and or did not care safety of the driver and passengers. 2) at 9k miles identical issue but with an additional issue of Model X going in forward directions when it showed revers on the instrument panel. Everything in car was frozen only option was forward direction at low speed but with reverse mode sign!! I had not other control over the Tesla Model X. I have taken video at this time for an evidence. Tesla states that they did not find any issue and down loaded display driver again!! I find it an excuse and Tesla does not understand seriousness in safety issue. Me and family is afraid to drive this car after two incidents.

12 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2016 Tesla Model X

Failure Date: 07/22/2020

In June of 2020, the entire power/electronic system in my 2016 Model X failed (at 73k miles), leaving the car undrivable (and even unable to be put into neutral for towing). I had it dragged onto a truck and taken to a Tesla service center, where they diagnosed a failed mcu. The failure, I was told, in rare cases caused a failure across the entire system. They replaced the mcu and charged me $1400. Tesla has supposedly offered a refund on the repair to customers who had the part fail (while refusing to acknowledge the safety issues associated with failure), but has not included my VIN in their database of impacted vehicles. The company is not acknowledging my car was one of the vehicles in the recall, but the failure clearly happened. How can I hold them accountable for that? is there any way the NHTSA can help?.

13 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2016 Tesla Model X

Failure Date: 07/22/2020

Total main computer failure (mcu) - many safety features were unaccessible and not available including but not limited to turn signals and hazard lights stop working, the settings for autopilot and driving are gone, the suspension settings, the ability to turn on headlights manually, ability to manually lock and unlock the vehicle, navigation, a/c, sunroof controls, etc.

14 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2016 Tesla Model X

Failure Date: 07/06/2020

During charging, the car mcu screen went blank, and the car was not accessible or controllable. Vehicle was unresponsive until tow truck driver bypassed unit by jump starting the 12 volt battery. Limited control was regained. Car was drivable, but the rear doors were inoperative. I am not sure what other systems were inoperative. I am concerned about this happening during driving or getting stranded in a remote place.

15 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2016 Tesla Model X

Failure Date: 07/01/2020

The mcu is dead. Car cannot be operated safely. No side blinkers, no horn, no ac. At this point my car cannot even turn on and cannot be driven. Contacted Tesla, but it is not a safety issue and they sent me home as parts were out of stock. It is not safe to drive as blinkers don't work.

17 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2019 Tesla Model X

Failure Date: 01/13/2020

I just bought a 2019 Tesla Model X 2 weeks ago. While I was parking sudden unintended acceleration occurred vehicle jumped the curb and the vehicle smashed into a wall . The airbags deployed. The car took a life of its own. I am a good driver with no accident history and did not press the gas. I had just pressed the park button. I have several lacertaions on my face. My left orbital has a contusion and right eye needs retina surgery. I have cracked ribs. I will need extensive rehabilitation on my back and neck. I have nonstop headaches. What is scary is I could have been with my 5 year old on a highway. I almost drove over a 4-year-old child and her mother who was playing 4 feet away. The car was only 2 weeks old. I know that Tesla keeps saying the same thing that it is the fault of driver and that may be the case but I have several witnesses to see the car took off including my fiance driving behind me. Come on Tesla this is a $120k car, I loved this car for the 2 weeks I had it, now I am scared to drive it again.

18 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2016 Tesla Model X

Failure Date: 01/28/2019

On January 28, 2019 I backed out of my driveway in my 2016 Tesla x, braked, stopped, put it in drive and barely, slowly started down my lane when the car suddenly accelerated at full speed down the lane. I tried the brake twice but it did nothing to slow the acceleration. Approximately 75 yards down the lane the Tesla entered the cross street below and clipped another car, demolished a large bank of mailboxes across the street, took briefly to the air several feet due to the hillside there, hit a large cedar tree, glanced off and finally stopped nose down, high sided on a large landscape boulder. But for the boulder, I would have continued down into the deep ravine behind the neighbor's house. The airbags had deployed during these events. I was taken to the hospital by ambulance and diagnosed with a t-12 spinal compression fracture, which is still painful a year later. The car was totaled. Police report and medical records available on request.

19 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2018 Tesla Model X

Failure Date: 12/27/2018

A Tesla Model X was able to be started and shifted into gear by a 2 year old who was then able to drive the vehicle forward and pin his pregnant mother between the vehicle and garage wall. Apparently there are no safety-interlocks preventing starting of the engine, such as transmission in 'p' or 'n'. Further, there is a wand shifter, but gear selection is completely under software control. There is no interlock such as with a traditional prndl selector. This is an inherently unsafe design. Civil docket describing the accident and Tesla's response are attached. Note in Tesla's response: 1) they do not state how many minutes elapsed between driver exiting the vehicle and toddler entering it. They use the vague term "moments. " it could well have been 10 or 15 minutes. 2) they claim it is not reasonably foreseeable that a child would manage to shift a vehicle into gear, which is patently false. Safe vehicle design absolutely includes consideration of unsupervised children playing at the controls.

20 Engine And Engine Cooling problem of the 2017 Tesla Model X

Failure Date: 06/03/2018

I was driving home in my Model X on lawrence expressway (8-lane expressway) in santa clara, CA and stopped at the red light. When the light turned green, I pushed on the gas and noticed that the car did not move and put itself into park. I could not put the car into gear. The main screen flashed several warnings that included: park assist unavailable automatic emergency braking disabled. Car needs service traction control disabled. Stability control disabled. I put on the blinkers, called Tesla roadside and they asked that I restart the vehicle by holding the 2 control buttons on the steering wheel, however by doing so, would stop the blinkers from blinking. I felt that would've been unsafe because I was in lane 2 heading southbound on an 8-lane expressway, and cars were coming from behind me pretty fast. Roadside asked that I call 911, which I did, and they then sent a tow truck to get me out of my situation. Video of what happened located here https://youtu. Be/9i9sghtmd7c.
