Main screen computer (mcu)just shut down while driving. This is a very serious safety issue that Tesla already knew about and this is a long time issue.
Tesla reboot while driving on a freeway! super scary experience driving home on cold and rainy October night in my one year old 2019 Model X. I turned on my auto-pilot and within few seconds, the dashboard as well as the speedometer turned black. The dashboard turned dark, lights out, and the car seemed to be free rolling at a high spped on the freeway. . . No indicators, no speedometer. Nothing. I thought that the car systems failed and I panicked, did not know what to do and my whole life flashed in front of me with the impending catastrophe. I continued driving. After a few minutes I turned on my right indicator (not knowing whether it was working) with the intent to exit the freeway. After a few minutes I managed to exit the freeway, found a spot to stop the car and waited for the functions to resume in 5-7 mins. Afterwards I called up Tesla roadside assistance. To my surprise, it seemed that they are aware of such issues. They advised me to not to use autopilot feature for 24 hours. They promised to evaluate the reasons and get back to me. It's been 2 days and I have not heard back from them. From the user forums I gather that this incident happened due to rebooting of the car's systems on its own and is not rare and other owners have expereinced this nasty issue. I am shocked that how could Tesla not fix this issue when they are aware of this? by not fixing this issue, we are waiting for a tragedy to happen or probably it happened already and no one know of the reasons. I am scared to drive this car knowing that this issue can happen again. I have put through undue stress and psychological trauma due to this incident.
Tesla Model X dies two times. 1) at apx 1k miles (within 3 months of new purchase of new vehicle, 1st owner), it died on freeway with no power and stopped. Due to spacing from the rear card, no accident occurred and hence no fatality. Tesla service center found nothing with this issue. No resolution on diagnosis and or did not care safety of the driver and passengers. 2) at 9k miles identical issue but with an additional issue of Model X going in forward directions when it showed revers on the instrument panel. Everything in car was frozen only option was forward direction at low speed but with reverse mode sign!! I had not other control over the Tesla Model X. I have taken video at this time for an evidence. Tesla states that they did not find any issue and down loaded display driver again!! I find it an excuse and Tesla does not understand seriousness in safety issue. Me and family is afraid to drive this car after two incidents.
I've created several bug reports for the autopilot system which is, a very real danger. The vehicle accelerates towards parked or stopped cars, slams on the brakes without explanation on the freeway, begins to change lanes on the freeway then violently swerves back into the original lane without explanation. I've taken the vehicle into 3 different service centers. The explanation is "software" and they recommend "updating the software" when new versions come out. The version of software released are not ready to be released to the general public. As a pilot, I understand how autopilot systems should behavior. The Tesla autopilot behaves so dangerously it doesn't appear the software engineers even bothered to test it before release.
Starting in 2013 Tesla cars the emmc memory chip connected to the mcu that controls the center console display and most electronics fails after about 4 years of usage due to writing to the chip over and over again. When the memory chip fails you loose control of the heating/cooling, backup view, etc. Every Tesla car manufactured between 2013 and 2018 will have the problem.
I went to start my car and the screen was black. My car hasn't been driven for 5 months since I was traveling. I had cleared all of the memory (navigation, addresses, music stations, etc. ), prior to leaving. I was in traffic and the turning signals didn't work. The safety of the car felt compromised since the turning signals, rear backup camera, suspension -basically most of the car controls were in-operatable.
Total main computer failure (mcu) - many safety features were unaccessible and not available including but not limited to turn signals and hazard lights stop working, the settings for autopilot and driving are gone, the suspension settings, the ability to turn on headlights manually, ability to manually lock and unlock the vehicle, navigation, a/c, sunroof controls, etc.
The mcu mdlsx,na premium, reman part #: 1098010-99-h is faulty and needed to be replaced. There are many people complaining of the failure in various forums and it is all happening at the same time. The options from Tesla is to repair/replace for $1200 and back ordered for 1+ month or to order an upgrade mcu intel upgrade-for tegraap1. 0 - north America part #: 9874564-00-a for $2500. This should be a recall replacment.
I was driving on freeway 99 near chowcilla, California in my Tesla Model X with under 7,000 miles on autopilot and there was no cars in any direction near me. This freeway was a straight line with no bends or curves. The car was traveling at 75 mph in the middle lane on autopilot and the car suddenly decelerate very aggressively for no reason. The tires screeched as the car's speed suddenly came to a near standstill at the speed of 10-15 mph. The driver ([xxx]) took manual control and drove the car without any potential fatalities. If there was a car or truck behind us, we would have died. This has happened on two previous occasions, but the deceleration was not as sudden as this life threatening occurrence. Upon accelerating the front end bounces and vibrates unsafely. Tesla is aware of the faulty dangerous design, yet they continue to sell their Model X without disclosing to purchaser. Additionally, they refuse to repair the vehicle, indicating that new front half axles will only temporarily solve the issue. The bounce happens when starting from a complete stop or often when accelerating from one speed to another. The bounce has been happening since April but repeated repair requests to Tesla have been refused.
While I was parking sudden unintended acceleration occurred vehicle jumped the curb and the vehicle smashed the building went thru the wall. There were twice prior incedents with no accident but freaking out whithin last 4 weeks. The vehicle was in motion in city street all three instances. All three incidents I was turning the corner or parking with less than 5 miles per hour.
On Thursday, September 26, 2019, at 7:40 am, I was parking my car at work and my car went on full speed forward over the median and crashed, luckily no one was hurt. This happened in a split of a second and the vehicle's safety override break that should have prevented from going over an obstruction in front of the car did not engage as claimed by Tesla. I requested an analysis of the car's recorded data to Tesla and asked to provide me with a copy of the report for better understanding. After weeks of analysis, an employee from Tesla called and informed that it was my fault as the gas paddle was fully engaged, I was astonished as I did not hit the gas paddle rather I just let my foot off the break to park my car slowly in the parking space and the car took off with speed as if I put full force to gas paddle. As for getting a copy of the report, he said that he will have to ask the engineers and let me know. It has been four months, and no one reached out to me about the report. Some people saw the whole incident and said that I reduced the speed of my car to park and suddenly it took off and went forward fast. At that moment, it felt like the car was controlled by someone else as pressing on a break was not stopping the car and finally, I had to press the park to stop it. I have been driving the car to my work and parking at the same parking lot every day for the last 3 years. My insurance totaled the car and provided the residual value, to this date I am without a car and trying to fix the damages of my car. I almost gave up but saw the news that I am not alone about Tesla denying similar claims of hundreds of sudden acceleration crashes. Tesla have the data and I am requesting Tesla to take full responsibility and compensate for my damage. I am requesting NHTSA to investigate and help bring closure to this matter.
Two major issues. On June 23, after a software update, I left to run some errands. I got a message that the update didn't install properly, but given that the functions of the update didn't seem critical, I decided to wait to try and reinstall. I was at a stop light in the center lane on wisconsin avenue in DC (a very busy street), when I went to go as the light turned green, my entire screen went black and I could not start the car. My hazard lights wouldn't even go on. Thankfully, I could roll down my window and wave cars to go by. I thank god that my children weren't with me, as I could have easily been in a catastrophic accident in a very busy intersection. After a couple of minutes of great distress, the car started again, but my navigation, auto drive, etc. Were not working. I called Tesla and they resent the update and it installed fine, but took about two hours and three tries??? this was a nightmare. My purse was in the backseat with my phone and I was so busy waving cars around me I couldn't get to it. And no power = no Tesla emergency assistance. How do you get help? this was terrifying. My second issue is that my lte rarely works. I've scheduled service, but they can't accommodate for another two weeks. That often leaves me with no navigation, no satellite radio, etc. , etc. My app now shows my car is charging in maryland. . . When it's in a parking garage in DC. Again, not helpful. Having this experience and the failing lte, I am 100% convinced that you need to have carplay, where at least you have a back up for navigation and voice to text ability. It isn't safer to only have lte if it doesn't work. Mine went out this morning during my commute and never came back. I even tried using my phone hotspot for wifi and that didn't work either. How are you going to offer netflix and voice text if the lte and wifi don't work? how is that safer?.
Essentially new car purchased 3 months ago with less than 5000 miles on it. Car failed while driving at high speed on highway and could not put in park, car was struck in drive mode. Tons of errors and safety issues. Parking brake failed. Airbag and abs systems failed. This car failed one month prior also with safety issues at high speed and Tesla said they fixed it but clearly not.
The car suddenly took over and accelerated beyond control while I pulled the car into a parking space. Front airbags were deployed and the front end of the car was damaged beyond repair. The car was totaled.
I was driving my Tesla Model X ev home and there were no problems. When I pulled into the driveway the self driving features accelerated the vehicle causing an accident.
