I am submitting this complaint regarding a newly leased 2026 Tesla Model Y premium rwd, which I took delivery of on February 6, 2026 from Tesla watertown, MA. I am a returning Tesla customer and entered this lease after test driving the same model on January 24, which did not exhibit any issues. Immediately upon driving the vehicle off the lot (approximately 12 miles), I noticed a persistent rattling noise from the front suspension area. The noise occurs over normal road conditions and has been present since delivery, significantly affecting the quality and value of the vehicle. On February 9, Tesla watertown evaluated the vehicle and later replaced both front upper control arm (fuca) mounts. On February 10, before repairs were completed, multiple safety systems suddenly disabled while driving, including regenerative braking behavior, traction and stability control, lane safety features, and automatic emergency braking, creating a dangerous situation. I returned the vehicle immediately and was provided a loaner. I picked up the vehicle on February 13 and was told the suspension issue was resolved, but the noise remained. I then sought a second opinion at Tesla peabody, where a master technician conducted a ride-along and confirmed the condition. He verified that the latest fuca parts had been installed and the front structural “pencil braces” had been removed per Tesla guidance. I was informed the vehicle falls into a known noise category affecting 2026 rwd Model Y vehicles and that there is currently no repair or engineering solution available. This defect has existed since delivery and remains unresolved after multiple service visits and component replacements. I have contacted Tesla regional leadership and customer support multiple times without response.
The car suddenly reduced lane assistance and steering assistance functionality. After calling Tesla they said it is not a software issue. I checked the service mode and it indicated a malfunction in the steering assist motor, which apparently costs $3500 to replace. Online, I have found many complaints about this problem that are not resolved by software updates. In addition, there was a large number used steering assist motors for sale online which indicates a more wide spread problem. This is not normal for cars to have this failure prematurely and is a serious safety hazard. I read online that some had their steering epas get locked while driving on the highway and nearly destroyed their Teslas.

The lane departure warning and lane assistance features generate numerous warning that are false. The false alarms are shocking and distracting creating alarm fatigue. Alarm fatigue is dangerous. The lane assistance feature is much too aggressive. Tesla does not allow for these features to default to off. They are mandated for every start up and have to manually turned off every drive. Tesla told me, "they are working as intended. " other car makers allow you the choice of on or off. I have to go through multiple steps every single time I drive the car to remove the alarm fatigue and false steering interventions. Both are hazardous. I actually get an alarm that says "take the wheel" while my hands are on the wheel. I get numerous fantom alarms. Please make Tesla release a sw update that allows people to choose their own driving defaults. Thanks.
Car was on complete auto pilot on mayland highway 270 and car suddenly took exit with any command and notification. Car was very close , few feet away from the guardrail at 55 mile per hour. This could have been a life threatening event with such decisions made by car. I saved all the dash cam videos of such two occurrence. I no longer have any trust in auto pilot software after too many mishaps with recent updates.

Summary of safety defect: multiple critical safety systems randomly disengage without warning while the vehicle is in operation, creating an immediate crash hazard. Detailed description: for approximately one month, my vehicle has experienced intermittent, unpredictable failures of multiple safety-critical systems while driving. These failures occur randomly during operation and include: regenerative braking system failure (primary safety concern) lane departure warning system failure automatic vehicle hold system failure traction control system failure automatic emergency braking system failure electronic stability control system failure safety hazard analysis: the sudden disengagement of regenerative braking while driving poses an acute collision risk. Tesla vehicles are designed with regenerative braking as the primary deceleration method when releasing the accelerator. Drivers develop muscle memory and expectations based on consistent vehicle behavior. When regenerative braking unexpectedly disengages mid-drive, the vehicle's deceleration characteristics change dramatically and without warning, creating a dangerous situation where: the driver expects normal deceleration upon releasing the accelerator the vehicle instead continues at speed, requiring sudden brake application reaction time is insufficient to compensate for the unexpected behavior change rear-end collisions or other crashes become likely, particularly in traffic similarly, the automatic vehicle hold feature unexpectedly disengaging means the vehicle may roll when the driver expects it to remain stationary at traffic lights or stop signs. Pattern and frequency: these system failures occur randomly and unpredictably while driving. The issues sometimes resolve after: restarting the vehicle restarting the cent however, the failures recur without warning during subsequent driving. Manufacturer response: service visit date: November 28, 2024 diagnosis: Tesla service center acknowledged this as a.

Self driving was maintaining vehicle. Looked at roadway before reaching down to passengers side for water bottle. The weight shift in the seat turned the self driving off immediately while turning sharp left. The Tesla Model Y crossed the left interstate lane barely missing an 18-wheeler. Drove 80mph in the central ditch, branches, and rocks. Car was still in drive, and rolled up to roadside which was covered in dust. The two eighteen-wheelers that I cut off then drove away, and drove Tesla to next exit to see damage. (dashcam footage available. ).
My 2024 Tesla Model Y hit a parked vehicle on the right side of the street during fsd self driving. The car suddently slanted to the right and hit the parked vehicle. During fsd drive, it did not give any warning before the accident. My dauther was injured on her face. Clearly the new version fsd v14. 1 software is very defective. I am located in san jose, CA.

Getting message on screen since October 2025. That time total milage on my car was less then 30,000 steering assist reduced and lane departure avoidance feature unavailable. I did reset / restart the vehicle / soft / hard reset, software update. And this both message got disappear and then again after sometimes its keep coming back. So I did appointment to rocklin Tesla center and they gave me cost estimate $5770. Thats way too much so I decline but they said those message might keep popping up because of low voltage distribution and controllers. So I accepted that service and paid $359. 68. But I am still getting same both messages on my Tesla screen. Sometimes it does comes and sometimes it does not. I did online research and people with same problem stating that because of Tesla's poor manufacturing steering wheel and some kind of faulty circuit board causing this issue. My car never been to any accident and its very low on milage. Please look for other Tesla owner who has same problem and Tesla has to fix this problem without charging this much amount. Thanks.
Yesterday on October 1st I was driving car recently last few days my car usually go more right side but I thought this may be due to keep in lane car feature or something so I didn’t bother much but yesterday when I was driving at around 11:13 am I didn’t know I reciived notifications in car about 1. Automatic vehicle hold disabled 2. Tracking control disabled 3. Stability control disabled 4. Break pedal regenerative breaking unavailable 5. Lane departure avoidance feature unavailable 6. Automatic emergency breaking unavailable and I see from y car pe drive vidio recording in 11:14 minute one my car hit curb and it damages my both side wheel and tire so badly damaged and broke like out of both pieces came off but didn’t flat my tire and when this happens I was trying it break but it didn’t break instead in lost all function so it was kind going fast and lost all control and with lot of work my car wind on side and then completely turn to other side this all happened in few seconds and was very scary I wasn’t far from Tesla service centre and I have wheel protection and tire protection plan so I took straight to Tesla service centre and I ask them about using my that plan and after some time they said based on damage and they check video they said this is collision and at that time I wasn’t aware what to do and this and that and I wasn’t fighting and I didn’t know about video or notifications all untill they show me and ask me to file insurence claim for collision and luckily I took picture of notification picture in car at that time and then I end up following insurence claim process in hour of something it took me and then went in car to take Tesla flash drive and my stuff I saw they put vehicle in service mode and all notifications were cleared and I even tell them luckily there wasn’t car near by or highways and no one on street and it avoided big incident but all this failure due to impact or this impact due to failure I want investigation because I suspect.
I was driving along one of the main highways in orlando, florida called [xxx], on Wednesday [xxx], in my Model Y Tesla. I was between the exits of [xxx], and [xxx]. I was in the middle lane. There was a software update issued the previous Sunday. The warning came on the display that the lane changing was not valid. At that point the car took over and accelerated. The brakes would not work, until I slammed on it after 3 times, and the car began to decelerate. The air conditioner went off, along with the electrical turn signals. I as able to get off at the [xxx] exit for it is a bit of a "hill" up in florida, but knew I could coast into a lane hopefully no one would be in. I was able to at least coast into a parking lot, and bump the car into a concrete barrier, and a tree infront of the barrier. The car would not respond to park, neutral or the emergency brake. I tried re-booting the car 3 times and nothing. I had to call a tow truck to tow to the Tesla service center in clermont, florida. They could not get it in park either and had to drag the Tesla onto the flatbed. After 5 days of not responding to my text, I walked into another Tesla service center to plead my problem. Long story short, there is an unexplained anomaly that is in the canbus and cannot duplicate the error. More $ to have to tested for another week. They gave me a loaner to use, a model s. After a few days driving it the loaner screen went blank and I was stranded. I had their loaner towed back to the service center. They will not 100% address the problem. They know it is in the canbus system, but now I definitely am scared to drive the car or get it back. How do I know if they will really tell me it is fixed? I fear if I get back in the car. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
While on a two lane road, my car decided to go around the car in front of me into on-coming traffic while in full self-driving mode. I had to jerk the car to the right to prevent a head-on collision!!!! I missed the on-coming vehicle by seconds!!! this was terrifying!.
-as a regular driver in the DC area, I have repeatedly experienced the lane departure avoidance system disabling itself mid-drive. This is particularly troubling in city driving conditions marked by unpredictable traffic, unclear lane markings, and frequent distractions—scenarios where these safety features are most essential. Lane departure avoidance helps prevent accidents by alerting drivers or gently correcting steering if the vehicle unintentionally drifts out of its lane. -I don't know if there was a specific concern about the safety of others, but it may have. -unknown -not needed -no - just happened.

I was able to safely bring the vehicle to a stop before entering oncoming traffic. Crash details: • the vehicle struck two barrier gates. • impact shattered the windshield, spraying glass across the cabin. • both my son and I sustained small cuts from glass shards. • vehicle was rendered undrivable and had to be towed by authorities to a secure facility.
Any of categories are matching with my issue. 3 1/2 years old, 64,000 miles Tesla Model Y, ecu, which controls full self driving , and drive assist system, is fault right after warranty expires. The replacement cost is $2,800. Does it make sense that ecu fault on the owner? it is only 3 1/2 years old car. It is definitely defective part, but Tesla service is not replace for free. I am concerning if ecu fails while I am driving.

After installing software version 2024. 45. 25. 15 (full self driving software 12. 6. 2) on my 2020 Tesla Model Y with autopilot hardware v3, I experienced unsafe behavior by the autopilot/automatic safety system. On my second drive after the software update, I was unable to engage the autopilot system. Two “phantom” cars appeared on the full self driving visualization. One “phantom” vehicle was on the left side of the vehicle in my blind spot. A second “phantom” vehicle was shown about 20 feet ahead and 50 feet to the left of my vehicle. (see screen shots). When I attempted to turn left, the automatic lane keep and blind spot warnings took over and attempted to avoid the phantom vehicle. I was able to override the system, but it caused repeated alarms and attempts to move the vehicle back into the lane.
My advance driving assist (fsd for Tesla) stop working randomly. Adaptive cruse control stoped working, forward collision stopped working. Backup camera randomly disconnect when parking. All of this happened right after a software update. I have contacted Tesla several times. They quoted me $2,666. 96 to address the issue. Isn't this a safety feature of the car specially when I paid $10,000. 00 extra when I purchase the car to have fsd? all of the advanced driving assistance and collision warning stopped working as well.
I initially visited the milford, CT Tesla service department and communicated through the Tesla ap on 12/14/2024 regarding my 2024 Tesla Model Y, which has only 2,357 miles on it. The car's cameras, sensors, & navigation stopped working, making driving unsafe. Now, the bright lights do not go on. The vehicle's camera/sensors are critical for safe operation. Tesla said the car may need a new computer, but they have none in stock. They texted me that they have many people facing the same issues.
There is a steering malfunction, with my Tesla Model Y it completely locks up and the steering is disabled. The steering doesn’t move at all the following warning and codes appeared on the dashboard. 2024 Tesla Model Y. All cameras and gps used for safety and convenience features suddenly stopped working. Everything was working when vehicle parked for the evening, next morning cameras and gps stopped working. No accident or other incident associated with it. No longer able to use: backup camera automatic cruise control (including full self drive (supervised)) blind spot warning when changing lanes. Navigation parking collision warning automatic braking there is concern with safety of vehicle overall since many of the safety features rely on Tesla cameras.
All cameras stopped working. With this, all safety features are not working. I can’t see to back up at night. No collision avoidance, no lane departure warning, high beams don’t stay on, turn signal doesn’t stay on. It has been two weeks and Tesla has no fix. There was no warning, just noticed it one day as I was driving it and was very dangerous in dark snowy conditions. I called Tesla service immediately and they gave me an appointment for following week. Then next day I got message from them that there are a large number of vehicles having the issue and they said they don’t have a fix for it and moved my appt out 7 weeks. I have gotten no help from them and I told them I don’t feel safe driving the car. They have not provided another car.
My new 2024 Model Y Tesla is having a computer failure - no navigation / gps (stuck at last address when issue occurred) and no cameras (including rear camera). With limited rear windshield visibility and no backup camera functionality, we've been put in dangerous situations. They keep pushing out the service dates waiting on new parts / computers. I found this article that details the widespread issue and parts shortage. Https://electrek. Co/2024/12/16/Tesla-major-issue-self-driving-computer-inside-new-cars/.
At night, on paved and well-painted rural roads, where there is no other sources of light, the pillar cameras incorrectly warn they are blocked or blinded. At the same time the lane departure warning and lane keeping assistance stop functioning without warning. On the image below I let the car drift over the line. As I crossed the line, the display should have highlighted the line in blue and there should have been a flashing warning at the top of the screen and an audible warning. None of those occurred. Since lane keeping assistance was enabled. It should have also steered the car back into the lane. I can regularly reproduce the issue. We don't understand why they are using the pillar cameras for this and not the forward cameras that can take advantage of the headlights. It is unsafe, especially since I am not warned of the system is not available.
In a 90 mile drive I experience phantom breaking 4 different times. No car was in front of me, in fact nothing at all was in front of me when my car slammed on the brakes 4 separate times. One time there was a car somewhat close behind me. I also twice experienced audible warnings and flashing alarms to take control immediately of the car when my hands were on the wheel and I was already in control of the car, it was alarming and shocking to get these alarms while already in control and driving. I believe this car, as currently configured, can pose a danger to other drivers on the road.
I am having difficulty with the mobile version to report it blanks out when I attempt to upload or attach documents but I have videos and documentation.
After being parked on a suburban street for about 3 hours, our Tesla Model Y experienced a complete loss of power-steering assist, requiring extreme hand-over-hand effort to turn the wheel and making it dangerous to drive. Warnings of "steering assist reduced" and "lane departure avoidance features unavailable" appeared on the display. After a 3-week wait, we finally got the vehicle to Tesla service, who diagnosed the issue and claimed that it was due to ". . . Rodent damage to steering rack harness". They claim to have repaired the damage and the vehicle is again usable. Repair bill was $990. I have the vehicle and it is available for inspection. I cannot verify cause of the issue nor the repairs as they are not visible without a partial disassembly of the vehicle. No parts were returned to me (as I requested), so I must assume that none were actually replaced.
Lane departure warnings activate briefly when driving straight ahead. Sometimes results in disablement of lane departure assistance feature. Tesla has attempted several repair attempts but issue persists: calibrate radar replace steering rack correct steering angle.
March 31 I received an email from Tesla that I had been selected to participate in a free full self driving (fsd) trial. I have no interest in fsd, and there was no way to opt out of this trial. At some point fsd was downloaded on to my Model Y as part of a regular software update. I was not given the opportunity to accept or refuse this particular feature. While both of these events feel wrong to me, it did not rise to the level of reporting to NHTSA until I realized Tesla had also enabled fsd on my car. In other words they switched my configuration from auto pilot to full self drive, presumably as part of the software update that downloaded the software on to my vehicle. One could argue that because two features on my screen were different I was able to figure out my configuration had changed, and manually change it back. One could also argue that not everyone would sort this out, and the next time they pulled the stalk down to engage cruise control they would unknowingly engage fsd. And that is not ok. I find the timing of all of this ironic given Tesla just settled out of court on a fatality related to their vastly overhyped fsd.
When on autopilot, the car engages in "ghost braking" for no valid reason. This has happened a couple of time. The last incidence happened today, 02/16/2024, at about 10:38 a. M. While on a freeway. I was lucky that there was no cars immediately following me, otherwise a chain accident with pile up would had happened. This was a very risky and scary incident.
Since installing the update for 23v-838; tc2023-657 compliance, you guys have absolutely ruined autopilot. Your regulatory overreach has resulted in my task workload increasing while using any adas systems Tesla supplies, and multiple times I have reached task saturation from the number of nags, alerts, and prompts that have appeared since applying the 23v-838; tc2023-657 update. In some cases I have engaged autopilot, been nagged, wiggled the wheel which disengaged, re-engaged, been nagged, wiggled the wheel which disengaged, re-engaged, 3 times in a row. I have benchmarked almost every other adas system on the market and you chucklefucks have somehow regulated Tesla auto pilot into a place where it has literally the most frequent nags, alerts, prompts, and annoyances of anything on the market. Ask yourselves whether you honestly think nags that audibly prompt and distract the driver for merely glancing at the autopilot set speed, briefly adjusting the map, or even daring to adjust vent position are really a wise tradeoff, or just something you cooked up because you have an axe to grind. Here's another one - as petty bureaucrats, would you rather have autopilot or fsd on the road, or a hypothetically drunk driver?.
I was driving in the left lane of the highway. Just up ahead I saw something sitting on the guardrail to my left which was jutting into my lane, right about eye level. It looked like a long wood 2x4. I swerved to my right to avoid hitting the piece (scared it would shatter my windshield) and the steer correct safety feature (probably wrong term) quickly threw me back to the left and into the guardrail. I turned my steering wheel to the right to get away from the guardrail and it threw me back into the guardrail. It did this a few times. I didn’t understand what was going on. It felt like I had no control over the car. It just kept slamming back into the guardrail. I finally took my foot off the gas and it slowed down and stopped throwing me around. Luckily, there was no one next to me and no one else in the car with me. No one got hurt. If it wasn’t for that “safety” feature, my car wouldn’t have been damaged. I did call the police to let them know about the wood piece that was sitting on the guardrail so hopefully it gets removed and no one gets hurt.
Tesla autopilot lost control in rainy weather, swerved off the road on freeway at 80mph, swung back in the leftmost lane and then to shoulder, risking lives of driver and all passengers including 2 children. Impact resulted in broken wheel rims and bursted tires. This could have been fatal accident if there are other cars on the road at the time of incident. There were absolutely no warning on the screen and near zero time to react with vehicle wheels turning sharp left at 80mph. Footage though immediately visible on dashcam has disappeared from usb drive. Requested vehicle logs from Tesla but that too has gap in coverage exactly during time of accident. Tesla service center has not responded to request to get system log at the time of accident. Missing logs and camera footage exactly at the time of incident is suspiciously missing. Footage and logs are available for next day as well as several weeks and months in the past.
Subject: safety concerns regarding recent Model Y autopilot update to whom it may concern at the national highway traffic safety administration (NHTSA), I am writing to urgently express my concerns about the latest software update for the Tesla Model Y’s autopilot system, which, in my view, significantly compromises safety. As a model 3 owner for over one year, I have generally found the vehicle and its features to be reliable and safe. However, the recent update has introduced an overly stringent hands-on-wheel detection mechanism that is not only inconvenient but also potentially hazardous. The new update requires frequent and often forceful interaction with the steering wheel to assure the system of driver presence. This change is drastically different from my previous experience, where I received only one hands-on-wheel violation in two years. The current sensitivity of the system disrupts the smooth operation of the autopilot, leading to frequent and abrupt disengagements. I have found myself struggling to maintain the system’s activation, inadvertently causing the vehicle to exit autopilot mode multiple times. This issue goes beyond mere inconvenience; it actively detracts from driving safety. The need for constant and sometimes aggressive adjustments to satisfy the system’s requirements is distracting and can lead to erratic vehicle behavior. The irony is stark: a system designed to enhance driving safety and ease is now a source of potential danger and stress. The unpredictability and over-sensitivity of the updated system could lead to dangerous situations, especially on highways or in heavy traffic, where sudden disengagement of the autopilot can be particularly risky. As a driver, I now find myself more focused on keeping the autopilot engaged than on the actual driving conditions and surroundings, which is surely contrary to the feature’s intended purpose. Thank you for your prompt attention to this serious safety concern. Sincerely, paul ramsingh.
The incident happened on 12/22/2024 8:30 am to 8:40am. Weather: heavy foggy. On freeway, no raining. Road was dry. Autopilot was off. I was trying to change lane to 2nd lane (I was in 3rd lane) and I saw a white pickup truck suddenly changed lane to the 2nd lane from 1st lane, so I turned my steering to left quickly (speed was 55-60 miles) and back to 3rd lane, and then suddenly the steering wheel was out of control, the steering wheel was turning right - left many times quicky and tilting the car. It just happened so quickly (not even a second) I wasn't able control the steering. After 3-5 seconds, it stopped. The steering was back to normal. I kept the car in 3rd lane. I almost got killed. I am glad I am still alive because it's christmas holiday, not many cars on freeway in the early morning. Many cars behind me stayed away from me when they saw my car was out of control. I reported the incident to the Tesla manufacturer, they said they checked computer log remotely and nothing wrong, just something related to wheel slips and then cancelled my service request. I didn't know if there was any warning lamps or messages pop up because I was so scared at the moment and forgot to check.
All the cameras in the vehicle are inoperable which causes autopilot not to work. The lane assist feature of the vehicle has stopped working. Driver has to constantly adjust to keep the vehicle from veering into traffic. The navigational system in the vehicle does not work. These safety issues require Tesla's immediate attention as this may lead to a fatal accident.
Failure of all cameras, gps, and lane keeping system. It is available for inspection. It occurred after software update was pushed to the car. Tesla service has seen the vehicle and says that the internal computer has a fault and needs to be replaced. Yet, oddly enough, there are a lot of identical failures reported in Tesla owner forums. Around the same time as my failure in mid-December 2023. No prior indication of computer failure occurred. And the computer is still operational for items not related to the cameras and gps. Safety concerns: the rear windshield has limited visibility, which is not an issue when the cameras are functioning. The safety notification when changing lanes does not work without the cameras and sensors. The lane keeping and adaptive cruise control do not work without the cameras and sensors. Tesla should investigate if a software update they sent over the air created the problem with cameras and lane keeping assist.
