Mid/rear Seats Assembly Problems of Toyota 4Runner

Rear seat cover has repeatedly come loose. Has been returned to the dealer four times for repair but they have been unable to fix / resolve this issue. The contact owns a 2013 Toyota 4runner. The contact stated that the rear middle seat would move forward and backward independently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who advised that the seat was operating as designed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The VIN was not available. I was stopped on the highway behind a truck making a left turn when I was rear ended by another truck going 60 mph. My 4runner was crushed between them, totalled, and my air bags never deployed. I hit the steering wheel so hard I bounced off of it and broke my seat from the momentum. When I awoke I had slid into the back seat (which is all that was really left of the vehicle). Although I am thankful to be alive, I feel that at that force, the airbags should have deployed!.

I sat in the rear seat of a 2010 Toyota 4runner. I am 6'1". I had clearance above my head. However, the roof is domed only above the seat. When I leaned forward my head contacted the roof. I believe serious head injuries are possible due to the interior design of this vehicle for taller passengers.

Consumer stated rear seats did not lock in place. As a result, when applying brakes suddenly the seats came up.

The rear seat back rest on passenger side squeaks and makes a rattling noise. If the back rest is folded down the noise goes away. It seems to be the locking mechanism. Based on research on the internet, this seems to be a common problem. Dealer offered to look at it.

While traveling on the highway the truck has a thumping noise coming from the rear. The dealership is aware of the problem. The right rear seat will not fold. The brackets have been replaced twice and the seat is still half way folded. Also the door indicator light illuminates and does not go off and the locks will not lock. They were inspected and no problem was found. The driver side mirror is falling. The brakes needed repairs performed. The front rotors had excessive rout out.
