Windshield Problems of Toyota 4Runner

I-26 rocks everywhere flying up cracking windshield. Have a crack hallway across front windshield with 5-7 chips in various places. Correction should be road sealed and road swept. Have to replace entire windshield.

Front windshield on my 2006 Toyota 4runner has cracked twice for no apparent reason. This is expensive and unsafe. I have seen scattered internet reports of 4runner owners reporting the same problem.

2006 Toyota 4runner: vision problem exists when viewing lights, I. E. Headlights, street lights, traffic lights, etc. Through windshield. All lights have a double, or ghost, image that exists above the actual light source. This problem exists all of the time, but is much more noticeable at night with a dark background. I have had no success resolving this problem with the Toyota dealership or the district service manager. The windshield has been replaced twice and all three windshields (original and two replacements) exhibit the same problem. I have also inspected approximately 10 to 12 other 2006 and 2007 Toyota 4runners and all of these vehicles exhibit the same problem.

Experiencing double vision in windshield of 2006 Toyota 4runner during nighttime driving.

Optical safety problem when looking through the front windshield of my 2006 Toyota 4 runner: any increased light situation, @ night or during the day, provides a double vision of the light source that appears above the source ~ 8 to 10 feet @ ~ 1 mile away. As the vehicle gets closer to the source it converges downward toward the light source until it reaches the front of the vehicle when it almost merges completely. This action actually causes me to become nauseated while driving practically any distance causing an unsafe optical view distracting me while I'm driving taking my attention to the double vision conditions. At times it is almost hypnotizing. I have documented this complaint 3 or 4 times to the dealer and once to the home office via email to no avail. I've been told by the dealership that this condition is common on this model yet they will not replace the windshield as it is seen as not a problem to be replaceable. No personal accident has occurred yet due to this condition. Maybe other owners are experiencing the same phenomenon.

Double vision in windshield when night driving.

Windshield continue to crack starting each time mid way the wind shield wiper on driver side. I am my third windshield and it is cracked again also lots of tundra trucks are cracking the same identical place.

Consumer complained that two front windshields had to be replaced due to poor visibility while driving at night. Consumer stated, the problem was severe glare. Dealer was aware of the problem.

Windshield cracked at the very passenger edge midway after having the vehicle for 9 mos new. The crack propogated inward. Under warranty and replaced. Two months later, same exact thing happened, still under warranty, replaced. Year and a half later, same exact thing, same exact place, not under warranty, now all of a sudden it was a stone chip and I have to pay for the new windshield. I beg to differ.

Windshield whistles . Dealer tells me they cant do anything . They say it is a design problem. Well if it is there will be alot of trade ins. When driving into a head wind it whistles put some pressure on the rear view mirror noise will decrease.

Rear window inoperative.

Windshield replaced several times.
