Sun Roof Problems of Toyota Avalon

Tl the contact owned a 2014 Toyota Avalon. The contact stated that during inclement weather, water leaked into the vehicle from the sun roof. Additionally, the contact lost the keys for the vehicle and was unable to enter the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to fred haas Toyota country, 22435 TX-249, houston, TX 77070, but was not diagnosed nor repaired. The insurance company deemed the vehicle a total loss due to water damage. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 10,014.

On or about the date below, I was traveling on the I-405 n freeway in los angeles when my sunroof glass panel flew off of my car. The sunroof was closed at the time, but I had noticed increasing wind noise over the last 12 months or so. After conducting some online research, it appears that other sunroofs (e. G. , the webasto models 600/700 and 900) that also used glass panels manufactured by vermeulen hollandia also experienced this same problem. I purchased my 1999 Toyota Avalon used in 2004 with about 16k miles on it. I am unsure whether webasto is the manufacturer, but am listing them in the following page so that I am able to fill out all the required information to file this report electronically. The glass panel indicates that vermeulen hollandia bv is the manufacturer, and the sn is 361607.

The contact owns a 2014 Toyota Avalon. The contact stated that while driving 70 mph, the sunroof glass shattered. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was informed that the sunroof glass needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 11,144.

I drove to baltimore, MD from cherry hill, NJ on 06/16/2013 at speeds varying from 45mph - 75mph. The moment I got on to NJ turnpike, the wind and road noise were loud inside the cabin. The entire time it seemed the windows of the car were open even though the a/c was on slow, windows and sunroof were closed. (I have two older cars I. E. Hyundai elantra 2002 and Honda accord 2005 which have less cabin noise when windows are closed). Considering, this is a brand new car, high end and is supposed to be very quite, I find it a big safety risk as the noise is distracting, because I was trying to see if the windows were open, doors were properly closed and sun roof wasn't open / tilted, all the while distracting me from the road. A lot of the noise seems to be coming from around the doors and the front windshield, at one point during my journey there was a loud whooshing sound coming from the front wind shield as if there was no seal / insulation between the windshield and the body of the car.

There was fluttering while driving at highway speeds due to weak springs in the sun roof assembly. The air dam (wind deflector part of the moon roof) fluttered at highway speeds and caused a shock wave/extremely loud noise in the vehicle. Toyota refused to correct the problem.
