3 Wheel problem of the 2015 Toyota Avalon

Failure Date: 04/13/2021

Have toyo extensa as ii tires on car with approximately 10,000 miles on tires. On interstate 69 in houston rush hour without warning the left rear passenger tire blew off rim. Left at 70mph with only rim on the back tire. I did safely pull over and no harm to myself of vehicle. The tire only had rubber left around rim. Was if tire was a piece of paper that blew away. No explosion, no low tire notice on car prior to tire coming off the rim. There was no other signs of trouble like car car shaking, wobbling or any other warning. I do have picture of rim and will keep remaining 3 tires. I have new purchased new tires.

6 Wheel problem of the 2019 Toyota Avalon

Failure Date: 09/21/2019

When driving our new 2019 Toyota Avalon down the freeway it wanders and moves around . The car seems to chase the small lines that are ground into concrete freeway. I took . The car back to the Toyota dealership and the checked the 4 wheel alignment, which was within perfect specs. The car still continues to drift and wander to the point that it seems unsafe. I contacted Toyota corporate warranty. They opened a case # 1909232297. They told me a Toyota field engineer would come out and drive the car to assess the problem. I received a call today from Toyota corporate informing me that they where not send anyone out. We should simply deal with the problem on our own.

7 Wheel problem of the 2018 Toyota Avalon

Failure Date: 08/21/2019

I was traveling on I-294 south in the vicinity of, south highland, illinois traveling about 70 miles per hour. I was next to the median. There was a car next to me that was behind an 18 wheeler, pulling an extra trailer. The 18 wheeler swerved to miss a car and as a result of the 18 wheeler swerving, the car next to me swerved to miss the trailer; when that happened I swerved to my left because of the vehicle. As I did so my vehicle made contact with the emergency strip that makes a nose like your tires are flat, almost instantly it appeared that I was pulled into the wall median. There was no way that I could have corrected that with all the strength that I was putting into getting my vehicle back in the lane.

8 Wheel problem of the 2006 Toyota Avalon

Failure Date: 05/27/2019

---buyers beware. --- tires purchased: 215/55r-17 continental purecontact LS sl purchased these tires on tire rack and had them professional placed on by firestone personnel (appropriate tire pressure checked). In just a little over a month, less than 100 miles, and without any trauma (no potholes, curbs, etc), the rear passenger tire had a major, sidewall blowout on the highway (70 mph) with near catastrophic consequences. Continental will not allow a refund but will only permit me to purchase tires in their lineup according to their 60 day policy. However, this should be an exception due to the near miss that could have caused serious bodily harm or death. I do not trust these tires given the extensive damage from such little usage (please see photos). They have denied any claim of defect in their tires but I am perplexed on how such extensive damage to a tire can happen without any trauma or inciting event. Please don't put your family or loved ones in harm's way and highly consider an alternative brand of tire than general or continental.

I pulled over immediately and noticed my tire low pressure light on. Upon inspection , noticed that my right rear tire was flat. Upon looking under the car at the wheel I saw a 5 inch diameter section of the metal alloy wheel missing. Called Toyota roadside assistance for help and they dispatched maintenance to install spare tire. Took pictures of damaged wheel and available upon request. Have never noticed a wheel exploding during normal driving on debri free road. Did a walkthrough and did not notice any sharp objects or other material that could have caused this mishap.

14 Wheel problem of the 2007 Toyota Avalon

Failure Date: 11/30/2013

It was daylight at approximately 3 pm local time. We were on good interstate road with moderate traffic and dry payment. We were on I-65 about 10 miles south of franklin, TN. My wife and I were the only passengers in our vehicle and we were both wearing seat belts. We are the original vehicle owner and the vehicle has been well maintained. We were not impaired and had stopped for a rest break and a driver change 15 minutes earlier. She was driving, I was in the front passenger seat. We were in the left lane. The driver immediately in front us in the right lane suddenly swerved into our lane for reasons unknown. We had traffic to our immediate right so the only place available for my wife to avoid was the left edge of the highway which is where she went. The left shoulder was rough due to recent construction in the area. She lost control and we spun out in the grassy medium without hitting anything. She was unhurt. My right clavicle was broken in two places with the two breaks the width of the shoulder belt apart which is assumed to be the proximate cause of the break. I was evacuated by ambulance to the nearest trauma center and had surgery two weeks later to repair my clavicle. It took surgery, the largest clavicle plate they make, and 10 screws to put my shoulder back together. Our air bags did not fire. Our seat belt pre-tensioners did not fire. The other vehicle fled the scene. Our car was repaired at a state farm certified repair center.

20 Wheel problem of the 2001 Toyota Avalon

Failure Date: 02/16/2011

Check tire pressure usually the first week of the month and never had problem of tires losing 60% of air between checkups. I thought that there was a puncture and took it to discount tire in romeoville(where I bought yokohama tires). Checked all the four tires and found no nails or other. They however found two wheels with corrosion(white flaking) and they suggested that I replace the wheels for this weather damage will only accelerate. These are supposed to be alloy wheels and how can there be weather damage. I had all the four wheels ground and buffed. Six months later, air leakage was back with vengeance and since it cost me only $19. 00 a wheel to grind and buff - I have been doing this instead of shelling over $500. 00 to have the wheels replaced. These wheels are not genuine Toyota. I had celica st back in the 70s and 80s and I had none of this nonsense with its alloy wheels.

21 Wheel problem of the 2006 Toyota Avalon

On a trip from florida to ohio there was a humming that started between 40 an 60 miles per hour. When it was taken to the dealer they identified it as a right front wheel bearing that was defective. The vehicle is a 2006 Toyota Avalon with 44,500 miles on it. I took the vehicle to another service shop to verify the defect and they confirmed that it was the right front wheel bearing that was defective. They replaced the part and gave me the defective one.
