Wheel Rim Problems of Toyota Avalon

The contact owns a 2005 Toyota Avalon. While parallel parking the vehicle,the rim hit the curb and the tire hit the curb. The failure mileage was 10000. The tires were balanced 5 times after the incident occurred. There were no repairs made to correct the problem. The current mileage was 30,000. The failure mileage was 10,000.

After driving two hours my wife arrived at her destination and found one tire nearly flat. The tire was fine, the leak was actually through a pinhole leak in the steel rim of the wheel. No one was hurt but a serious accident could have occurred. We believe this wheel had a manufacturer's defect from day one, but the dealer did not replace the wheel because he said it was beyond the 3-year 36000 mile warranty.

: the contact stated a crack in the right front wheel caused the tire to loose air pressure, resulting in a crash. The vehicle was driven over three lanes and struck a road sign, went back over the three lanes and down into a watery ditch and up the other side and came to a stop. Seat belts were in use and no injuries were sustained. The contact has no other recollection of the incident and can offer no more facts. A police report was filed. While driving approximately 30 mph left rear tire blew out. Part of tire became shredded where rim was split. Took vehicle to dealership for repair. Dealership was not able to repair vehicle due to lack of personnel. Had tire replaced at cosco, but problem recurred. Consumer returned the tire to costco where they discovered the alloy rim had a small hole that caused the tire to lose air pressure. The tire has been a problem maintaining proper air pressure ever since. Dealership would not honor warranty and charged consumer $375. 89 to replace alloy rim.
