I was driving home from work, this guy in a blue Hyundai would stay in his lane, so I sped up to get around him, in turn he started racing me, so I went a bit faster to get around him, was about to round the corner so I went to slow down and my rear end fishtail, I hit the guardrail and spun out. Both my crumple zones on the back and front were affected but my airbags did not deploy! thankfully I'm just really sore and not seriously injured!.

When making a right turn and braking suddenly as in a busy parking lot, the engine will accelerate with a loud roar while my foot is solely on the brake and I franticly shift to neutral. Sometimes on a curved road with a traffic light the engine will accelerate while my foot is on the brake trying to slow the car for a red light. This has happend numerous times.
Am experiencing sludge build up in the engine of my 2000 Toyota Camry solara. This vehicle was a previously owned when I purchased it on March 17, 2016. At time of purchase I requested a carfax report. My choice to purchase was made upon report details I. E. Repair & maintenance records, including routine oil changes. The carfax report specified all preventative maintenance had been applied to this vehicle and was up to date. There were no known manufacture recalls and/or issues on this vehicle. At the time of purchase I was unaware of any troublesome issues on this make & model, nor with its engine model. After my own extensive research before shopping for my 2nd preowned Toyota I never did come across any such information regarding problems/recalls & would have never made this purchase. I have always been a Toyota fan & am very displeased with the engine sludge problems I later discovered and also the fact that the dealership which sold me this preowned Toyota covered up & provided me with a false carfax report. I have my proof of routine oil changes + the carfax report showing all previous owners(2) also made routine oil changes. I feel I am a victim of a manufactures default in this engine model. I have owned my preowned Toyota for only 5 months and for the last 2 months I have had it sitting in my driveway due to ongoing engine troubles I am unable to tend to financially & do not wish to do any further damage to it. I am greatly disappointed. Deborah a. Banks.
The contact owns a 2000 Toyota Camry. While driving at any speed, the vehicle accelerated independently. In addition, while the vehicle was parked, the rpms increased to approximately 1,900-2,000, then decreased back to normal, and increased again. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 157,000.
On Sunday February 21, 2010 my daughter who was driving her Toyota Camry 2000 model sees her battery indicator light go on without warning. Then the car stopped completely and started to smoke out from the engine. Without any further indicator lights displaying the engine flamed out and shortly thereafter the entire front of her car spontaneously exploded. The car had received its timely inspection and maintenance and there was no indication from the reports that showed that this vehicle needed any further mechanical workup . Due to the common sense of our child she had stepped out of the car when it had started to smoke out and did not suffer any injuries. The necessary emergency crews had to shut down the surrounding residential roads and the 2 gasoline stations that this event had occurred outside of and we were all lucky that there were no casualties.
2000 Toyota Camry driven at normal highway speed threw a rod through the engine block. This vehicle has always been properly maintained which I can prove with receipts from my certified mechanic. No one I spoke to at Toyota would help me. This car was purchased as a certified used vehicle. The warranty has expired but this should not have happened at all esp. With only 80,000 miles. I had to replace the entire engine all at my cost. This same vehicle broke a timing chain a year and a half ago. Fortunately, it was still under warranty then. I specifically purchased a Toyota because of their supposed reliability and customer service. This will be my last Toyota.
Oil gelling -repair not done as promised.
I would like to report my son's fatal 2000 Toyota solara crash. His car went into full speed and hit the trees with speed close to 100 mph on residential street with 20 mph limit. Updated 03/10/10 updated 09/23/10.
The engine developed extremely excessive sludge so much so that the engine had to be replaced.
Head gasket, loses in camshaft.
Engine oil has a tendancy to get milky after 2,000 miles from previous oil change. Steps taken to avoid this problem were as follows: 1. Oil changes to semi synthetic or all synthetic oil. 2. Change oil & filter at 2,000 mile intervals at sustained temperatures below freezing. 3. Driving habits to avoid a series of short trips, by schudling 30-45 minute highway run weekly. ( when ever possible) I was alarmed by the re-occuring look of the oil and the dirty condition under the oil filler cap ( engine not hot enough, long enough?) . I took addition time to clean up the dirty appearence and change the oil earlier than 2,000 until the condition normalized. Extended runs on the highway also helped the condition of the oil over the 2,000 mile interval. Especially with the harsh 2002/2003 winter in the northeast us.
While driving the vehicle and no warning the vehicle caught on fire. Dealer notified. Ts.
