Air Bag Not Deploy problems of the 2002 Toyota Camry - part 1

Takata recall? I was involved in a frontal collision at 45mph and the air bag did not deploy. I was injured as a result.

My car was involved in an accident that resulted in it being totaled; and the airbags did not deploy.

I had a wreck in Jan. , 7th, 2005. I was traveling below the speed limit and the lady in front of me was dead stopped and I cold not stop my car. I hit her stopped car, doing 45 mph and my airbags did not deploy! now the airbag on the passenger side, is not right. It has moved and separated as if it is about to pop open, since the wreck and the people that did the service on my car to fix the front end (via my insurance CO. - usaa) have had it looked at and they will not do anything about it. The cover has moved even more, since my wreck in Jan. 7th, 2015 and I am really scared. My 84 year old mother and my service dog ride in the passenger seat. Please help me before it deploys in her face!.

I was on a ramp to I-520 at a speed between 45-50 miles. Hr and the ramp is straight. Suddenly the car lost control and spinning - finally, I noticed the front passenger side tire is flat. The problem is the airbags were not deployed though the front (both left and right) hit the concrete wall badly and damaged badly. Also the abs was not engaged.

The contact owns a 2002 Toyota Camry solara. While at a red light, a second vehicle crashed into the rear of the contact's vehicle. As a result, the contact struck the preceding vehicle. Both front air bags did not deploy in a head on collision. Car was totaled and both passengers, belted in front seat were injured.

Vehicle is a convertible. The air bag light remains on whenever the car is running. Car has never been in a collision. Many others have reported same problem for same make/mode/year. Where collisions have occurred with vehicles displaying this condition, air bags fail to deploy.

Air bags failed to deploy on a frontal crash that pushed dash into my knees and engine back about 1 ft. I don't think I was injured because I braced the impact. Just whiplash and sorenees in arms and knees. The car is currently being stored at the insurance company lot but will be junked in the next few days.

27 may 2011 1. Events leading up to the failure: the car battery, incorrectly place directly over the left side air bag sensor normally leaked water and acid onto the wiring harness opening the circuit and causing the air bag light to go on and the car safety air bags to be disabled. The left side air bag sensor maybe moved so that it is not under the car battery or the sensor could be shielded, such as a splash guard. 2. The failure, how often it occurs, it consequences: this is a 2002 or 8 year old car; however, I would estimate this failure could occur within 6 months to four years. The consequences are that the air bags would always fail to deploy in an accident; making the safety system inoperable. 3. What was done to correct the failure; the main engine wiring harness was replaced; Toyota wanted $3,800 dollars at first. The two wires to the air bag sensor could have a disconnect, so that only the two wires to the air bag sensor could have needed too be replaced.

The contact owns a 2002 Toyota Camry. While driving 5 mph into a driveway her vehicle crashed into a brick retainer wall. The vehicle was towed to a local mechanic who quoted a repair cost of $2000 to repair the damage to the front fender. The dealer stated that there were no problems with the vehicle when it was sold to her. The manufacturer stated that they would conduct a survey of the damages and check for a mechanical failure. Brakes were unable to bring car to a stop, instead the car accelerated. Car finally came to a stop after crashing into the house. Car was damaged and the body and fenders of the car were repaired but nothing was repaired which led to this occurrence in regards to the mechanics of the car. In addition airbags did not deploy on impact.

On June 29, 2005 consumer's vehicle was rear ended, at 65 mph, and then it hit the vehicle in front of it. Upon impact, air bags did not deploy. The dealership did not know why they did not deploy. Consumer's daughter was driving the vehicle. She sustained whiplash and wa sseeing a chiropractor. This happened in a 2002 Toyota Camry. The vehicle was totaled, and a police report was taken.

Consumer was in an front end collision accident yet the air bags did not deploy. The consumer was going the speed of 35 mph .

Vehicle was running while the driver was sitting inside of the parking lot. Vehicle suddenly accelerated uncontrollably. Driver applied the brakes and the pedal went to the floor. Driver was unable to maintain control of the vehicle and it crashed into a brick wall. Upon impact, both air bags did not deploy. No injuries reported.

The consumer experienced sudden acceleration . The brakes failed to work causing an accident. The consumer's vehicle collided with another vehicle at a stop sign. The air bags did not deploy.

While driving 50 mphconsumer's vehicle was involved in a collision. Consumer's vehicle hit the back of a parked vehicle. Upon impact, air bags did not deploy. . Driver's side seat belt did not engage backwards, buckled hood; tore off right front side of bumper.

While parking the vehicle, the brakes failed and the vehicle proceeded forward until it hit a building. The frontal air bags did not deploy. The sheriff stated by the position of the wheels he knew the brakes failed. Before the accident, the consumer complained to Toyota about the brake going to the floor when it was applied. The consumer stated she was sure that the high acceleration that occurred with her vehicle was the result of the gas pedal sticking. The consumer stated she knocked down a 4 foot metal parking light, proceeded and hit one wall, ran over numerous shrubbery, a tree and hit the entrance of a brick wall at a bank. Updated 04/19/10.

Consumer's vehicle slid into the rear of another vehicle and air bags did not deploy. Consumer sustained facial and back injuries.

Consumer had a collision with a pole while parking and air bags did not deploy. While parking consumer's foot slipped off the brake pedal and hit the accelerator. Consumer sustained some trauma to her hearing when she hit the pole in front of her. Also, consumer was told that this model of Toyota had a recall on air bags, but she had not yet received one.

While driving 40 mph consumer's vehicle was involved in a head on collision. Upon impact, dual air bags did not deploy. As a result, passenger sustained a broken sternum.

When driving into the garage vehicle surged forward. This caused the consumer to lose control of the vehicle, and it hit the back wall of the garage head on. Upon impact, both frontal air bags did not deploy. Consumer will have the vehicle inspected.

The consumer had an accident, when the vehicle accelerated on its own, struck 5 vehicles head on and the air bags did not deploy. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and they told him that there were no defects with the air bags or vehicle accelerator. Toyota has accepted a claim in will reimburse the consumer for all damages; however, the consumer shows concern that there is no recall. See voq 10065132.

While applying the brakes pedal went to the floor and vehicle suddenly accelerated. This caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle and hit another vehicle. Upon impact, both air bags did not deploy. Consumer was able to drive the vehicle to the dealer for inspection. However, mechanic was unable to duplicate the problem.

When driving at 12 mph vehicle surged forward. This caused the consumer to lose control of the vehicle and hit five parked vehicles in the parking lot head on before stopping. Upon impact, air bags failed to deploy. See voq 10083277.

While driving 20 mph consumer's vehicle was rear ended and pushed into another vehicle. Upon impact, dual airbags did not deploy, and seat belts failed to restrain the occupant. As a result, the driver sustained upper chest injuries. During the time of incident, consumer was trying to stop when vehicle was rear ended. This led to consumer's vehicle hitting another vehicle parked on the shoulder.

The vehicle was being parked parallel to the curb. With the drivers foot on the brake, he shifted from park to drive and the vehicle accelerated forward, throughout the intersection, over a curb increasing in speed. The air bag did not deploy. The driver attempted to brake, but the vehicle did not respond. The vehicle was totaled.

While driving approximately 35 mph, the vehicle was involved in a head on collision and the front air bag did not deploy.
