Dash is cracked all over, including where airbag is on front right passenger side, causing airbag light to stay lit. This is a safety hazard and should be repaired or replaced by Toyota. I was already informed by Toyota when I had called that there had been a recall on this matter for cosmetic reasons several years ago and now it was “too late” for them to be responsible, but I did not know of that condition/recall. This is not only a cosmetic issue, this is a safety concern and needs to be addressed immediately. I was informed by an employee at the number I was given that safety issues do not fall under the statue of limitations for recalls. I’ve been trying to get a response from the national highway safety division but I haven’t received an actual determination as to whether Toyota had to replace the dash or not. Please help with this urgent safety concern. I can be reached at 440-855-6928. Thank you.
In the last several years the dashboard is sticky and cracking. I am not only concerned about the glare and white residue but also the potential effect on the airbags. I have visited a dealership and sent written communication to Toyota in plano TX. I also called Toyota asking for help with this issue and have been informed the cost would be entirely my responsibility. Toyota created a case number which is [xxx]. The car is garage kept with approximately 112,000 miles and in very good condition. Thanks for any assistance you can provide. July 14, 2021 arriving back to new jersey from las vegas. I pick up my vehicle Wednesday night at hoboken NJ garage , heading home my 2005 Toyota Camry vehicle air bag (steering wheel) deployed. As I was driving (15mph) no lights was on the dashboard, no pot holes on the street and there was no accident involving my vehicle. I was hit in the face from the air bag pretty hard it almost made me crash into a electric pole and gas station. 911 was called, the jersey city police department, fire department and ambulance arrived. The area was block off looking for car parts or pot holes nothing was found so the police report can be completed. I treated inside the ambulance at the scene, my left hand was burned and head/ neck was hurting. I just decline going to the hospital at the moment. The police called a towing company as I called my car insurance to informing them the situation. As my vehicle was being towed away the police officer said its a malfunction problem it can be a recall I don't know about. The following day I was in touch with my claim agent from my insurance, letting them no where my vehicle was towed at. They informed me to get in touch with the Toyota to see if they going to take full responsibility of the air bag being deployed on July 14, 2021 . I called Toyota corporation and gave them all the information they asked and then I was told a inspector would reach out to inspect my 2005 Toyota Camry vehicle but it has to be a auto body shop. The place the police got my vehicle towed to the night ofjuly 14, 2021 from hoboken NJ was not a auto body shop. It was just inside a gate full of other cars. I paid full price for storage fees end up getting my 2005 Camry to a auto body shop in jersey city NJ were the Toyota corporation inspector came out July 27 2021 . I called Toyota corporation multiple times they kept saying it takes up to 30days to make decision from the inspection notes. Yesterday August 25 2001 I received a email they not taking blame.
My vehicle was in motion 70 mph on the highway I take everyday as I was mildly turning with the road the steering wheel spung to the left and the car went out od control spinning and ended on the right shoulder where than my car started to flip over none stop and the airbags didnt not burst or come out.
Started receiving constant red illuminated air bag icon on the dashboard with no known cause.
Takata recall. On August 2017 I was in a accident I put my car in reverse and it flew me back and forward fast. My leg was broken and mouth busted. . The air bag didn't deploy. I was thrown to a brick wall.
Takata recall: after backing out of a parked position, I bumped the rear of the car into a stationary pole. After the collision occurred, no airbags opened and the "air bag" light on the dashboard turned on. Additionally the "passenger airbag" light turned from "on" to "off". No damage was caused except to the back bumper of the car.
"takata recall"airbag system entirely shut off while in motion on city street.
Air bag defective.
Passenger front airbag looks like it is ready to open up & deploy-started out on a smaller portion, but gets worse by the day. Possibly due to the heat here in FL state?? I have owned Toyota Camry's since the 1990's; lived in NY state and FL state, & never had an issue with the airbags. This is quite disturbing & scary-should I call the local Toyota dealer & set up an appointment? I do not feel that is in my 'fault', & therefore, should not have to pay for this repair-please advise, thank you.
This vehicle is not on the recall list however, the airbag is clearly starting to protrude on the dash. Worried it might deploy if I have a passenger in the car with me.
Seatbelt light came on indicating that the seat belts and airbags will not work if there is a crash. There has been no crash or incident up to this point. Is there a recall for this type of emergency?.
My wife was dropping my daughter to school bus stop and when she went o get the letters in our gated community mail. Box , she was about to stop in the parking space when the car accelerate by it self, causing her injury and car and property damages. Dash is cracking and appears the dash material may not allow air bag to function --- has mulptily cracks in all different location in front of driver and passanger.
Dashboard cracking leading to possible air bag deployment failure.
2005 Toyota solara. Consumer writes in regards to air bag non deployment after an accident.
My dashboard is cracking apart and I note online that 1000's of other Toyota solara convertibles have experienced the same problem which will affect the air bags as well.
While in process of parking 2005 Toyota Camry 6 cylinder in one-level parking space traveling at less than 5 mph, with foot on brake, vehicle suddenly accelerated and went out of control, crashing into pole, injuring driver slightly. Was second such incident about one year apart, with stone wall stopping vehicle during first incident, while ripping off entire front end.
Slid into SUV in front of me. It did about $4000. 00 worth of damage but none of the air bags deployed.
The car was rear ended and hit on the left side at a high speed. Neither the air bags in the front nor the side curtains were activated. Also the driver's seat was broken. The car was totaled. Updated11/21/06.
