On 03/29/20 I was backing into a parking space in a restaurant parking lot when I pressed on the accelerator the car took off like a rocket ship and I hit a truck. This is my 1st accident. It happened so fast but I immediately took my foot off the accelerator and both feet were on the floor and both hands on the wheel after I felt the acceleration. Toyota is denying my claim. . Can you review?.

7 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 08/25/2017

Previous odi 10576595, 2 April 2014/ today 25aug2017: at approx. 1910-1915 hrs I was driving south on bell Ave. Approaching hurley Ave, in sacramento, CA. , when for the third time I have experienced vehicle acceleration while braking. The second time, I was driving in the late evening, 2200, to the movies; approaching arden and fulton, same thing, braking and the vehicle accelerated almost hitting the vehicle in front of me; that time my actions of standing on the brake and turning off the ignition key kept me from hitting the other car. This second incident happened maybe 2 months ago! I considered that maybe my sandal got caught on the brake pedal, which is why I did not make an immediate report! now I know for sure that it is and always has been a tautly problem with the braking, engine rev/acceleration problem! Toyota denies that this problem happens with the solara! tonight, I also stood on my brakes when I heard the engine rev and the car accelerated, hitting the vehicle in front of me. The vehicle was pushed out into the intersection, but, not into cross traffic! instead of the stuck vehicle crossing through the intersection and pulling over, they/he/she sped off down bell about? to northrup and turned left. I called chp and the made a report: ncic 9250 / officer 19071. Tried pulling up my previous report via VIN# and odi# and found nothing on file! what gives? the first incident occurred during the period of Toyota dealing with massive vehicle recall for the same problem; solara's were not on the list at that time, and the denied that this was also a problem with solara's. What I perceive as a problem is that only Toyota can read the black box; and, can claim whatever they want the analysis to be. Which, is totally unfair to the victomized owner!!!!!!!!!!!! street speed 35 mph, braking for intersection, engine rev and acceleration!.

On March 19, 2016, I was driving my Toyota 2005 Camry at approximately 35 mph, when the car suddenly accelerated. I applied the brakes, emergency brake and put the car in park. The car continued to accelerate and I attempted to approach the freeway on ramp. I was unable to turn the steering wheel. I crossed a raised island and into the freeway lane and hit a car that was driving onto the freeway ramp. Both cars were damaged. My car was totaled. I was transported to hospital and was discharged from emergency room.

10 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 07/15/2015

Gears not working.

11 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 10/10/2013

This is a delayed response, as I was not aware that Toyota finally accepted responsibility for spontaneous accelerations. I was in slow, stop and go traffic and my car suddenly accelerated. I recall looking down as I pressed the brake as hard as I could because the car was not stopping or decelerating. I thought that my foot must have been inadvertently on the gas pedal but it was firmly planted on the brake. The brake worked as there were definite skid marks. I slammed into the back of a tahoe, totaling my car and causing a pulled shoulder, whip lash, and a deviated septum in my nose from the the airbag deployment. I was afraid that the policeman would not even believe my account of the accident so I did not report the incident as clearly as it occurred (though I definitely accepted responsibility). I just received a check for approximately $23. 00 a few weeks ago for a class action lawsuit settlement. I am furious that I lost an otherwise (paid for) great car, sustained injuries and more important, endangered people around me. I also now have an "accident" on my insurance record. The financial, physical and emotional toll this has taken can certainly not be "bought out" with $23. 00. I wish that I had told my experience to the officer as I clearly perceived it, regardless of how implausible it seemed. Now, I have foolishly already purchased another Camry, and, once again they have a major safety recall. At least they have openly acknowledged this one. However, I cannot get them to return my calls with an appointment for a repair. What am I supposed to do in the meantime? wait until another "accident" happens? how can I get in to get a repair? please let me know. I am afraid to drive it but cannot afford to rent a car indefinitely. I am grateful to have found this site. Thank you.

12 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 09/04/2013

My car is 88000 miles, its 2005 Toyota Camry standard automatic transmission. One fine day, when driving on the highway, I got an engine light check. I couldn't stop on the road, so took an exit and when I slowed down while on the exit ramp the engine stopped suddenly. I though its one off incident and start it again and started driving, but at the next immediate signal light, I had to stop for the red light and the engine stopped again. I got it towed to the nearest car mechanic, they said, it¿s the engine locked problem and it needs to be replaced. I wanted to get a second opinion and got it towed to another mechanic, he told the same, engine locked. If I were to take it to the dealer shop they would take exorbitant amount of money to just figure out the problem. I am extremely pissed that Toyota Camry engine would fail for 88,000 miles.

13 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 12/29/2012

Defective throttle body. . . Found out this is common with Camry. Over 1,000 to replace. Outrageous for a car with 43k miles and original owner. Thos should be a recall item by Toyota.

14 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 07/02/2012

2005 Toyota Camry. Consumer states problems with obtaining vehicle recall repairs the consumer was informed she would need to present a bill of sale for the vehicle, because there was no record of her purchasing the vehicle.

15 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 08/21/2008

I purchased the car in may with 48,000 miles from the lake charles, la Toyota dealership. I currently have 58,000 miles and have taken excellent care of the vehicle. My wife and I were driving to wal-mart on the highway during rush hour when our car appeared to jump a few times without pressing on the acceleration. After commenting on the jumps I noticed no response from the pedal and realized that the car had died. Luckily I made it into a parking lot where a mechanic was able to communicate with our cars computer. The diagnostic said it was our throttle body, and that we could make it home if we took it easy. During the 5 mile trip the car would surge between 1,500 and 3,000 rpms and would die at stop lights in the drive position. I learned to place the car in neutral and let it race until the light turned and then place in drive. The rest of the way home I kept the car in high rpms >3,500 to keep from feeling the surge. At home I researched this problem and found that I am not the first, and lucky that it did not cause an accident. Other sites mentioned to get throttle body cleaner and a soft rag to wipe grime from throttle body. After doing so the car would idle at 200 rpm. After a few minutes I test drove and found that any mild acceleration would bog it down and kill it. Then later it would idle at 2,500 rpms in drive and I would have to press very hard on the break to keep from moving forward. This car is very dangerous and could have easily hurt someone.

16 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 12/31/2007

Driving three blocks from my house, suddenly I was being put in an ambulance and told I was in a car accident. Told I went thru red light and hit a suburban. All medical tests were negative, no cause could be found for this accident. I still suffer injuries from this accident and am receiving treatment. Perhaps due to acceleration in my Toyota Camry. How to determine if that was cause.

17 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 01/15/2006

2005 Camry purchased used as a program car in Nov 2005 with 12k miles on it. When starting up vehicle, then driving at less than 10 mph in reverse (to back up out of a driveway or parking space), applying the brake and then putting car into drive, the car will accelerate intermittently on its own before driver depresses the gas pedal. Driver always has had to continue to apply the brake for sefveral seconds, to be certain the vehicle will not surge forward, esp if approaching a corner less than 100 ft away. The dealer was informed of this phenomena in early 2006, while vehicle was still under warranty. Dealer examined the vehicle but could not replicate the problem. Owner has "learned to live with" the safety defect. Driver never knows when event will happen. Most recent occurence was 4/10/16. No one but owner is allowed to drive the car. Vehicle now has 120k miles on it, and has otherwise been reliable.

18 Engine And Engine Cooling problem

Failure Date: 02/01/2005

Toyota Camry le model has three problems: idle control is above 2400, rod that hold piston is not secure to hold it tight and causing the piston to jiggle around, Toyota said that is a defective part and should replace the engine. And weather seal is inadaquate, you can hear all traffice noise with radio on full volume. Dealer is very unfriendly and they gave me run around, they replaced the engine without my permission and still has same problems I had before they replace the engine and has not fix the other problems and refuses to give anyone else's name to talk to. 800# tells me to call dealer and dealer tells me to call 800# and still unable to resolve this issue. I will never buy Toyota or recommend to anyone. Becouse of the poor service when you have problem they do not want to talk to you and they give you run around.

19 Engine And Engine Cooling problem
