I do not know the exact details of the entire accident, as we did not yet meet the new family, but it took the life of my grandchild. She was not driving her boyfriend was. It was his mothers vehicle and it happened in another state. Las vegas, nevada. The cause listed in the accident report was a fault of the vehicle. He was following his sisters vehicle, as they just arrived in vegas and was visiting his family. The car accelarated unexpectedly and hit his sisters car then flew into a wall. His mother was killed and my granddaughter instantly. I would like to see a change in the way these recalls are dealt with. I'm just going thru any venue I can to get it done. These cars should be flagged "do not register" by department of motor vehicles until the parts are repaired. If I don't smog a vehicle I cannot drive it. Make it that way for all recalled vehicles. Work with the car companies to get this done before more children, families die. Please.

Yesterday, July 26, 2015, I received in the mail a second letter from Toyota motor sales customer experience department regarding the warranty enhancement program - ze6 concerning the replacement of the sticky dashboard of some make and model. Mine is a 2006 Toyota solara. It's ridiculous why the warranty enhancement is only for the sticky dashboard when the steering wheel and inside door panels are made of the exact same material. These parts must be covered as well especially we touch these parts every single time we use the vehicle. On mine, I noticed the disintegration of the material since last year when I was wipe cleaning the interior of my solara. This warranty enhancement must be extended to fix the material on the steering wheel and door panels. I know I'm not the only one experiencing this because I read blogs and there are others experiencing the same issue even on Lexus 2006. You should look into this because we pay a lot in purchasing our vehicles and we deserve our money's worth.

I was heading into the sun and I could hardly see due to glare from the dashboard. When I stopped I put my hand on the dash and found it to be very sticky and cracked. The car is always in a garage and seldom in the sun. I have since learned that many other Toyota owners have experienced the same problem.

8 Body problem

Failure Date: 10/28/2013

I was traveling north on rte. 209, passing the green light. When a Ford focus traveling south on rte. 209 made a left turn, causing a collision with my car. I impacted his car in rear section around the tire, bending his tire. The air bags in the Toyota did not deploy which I believe caused more damage to my back. The other driver was written a citation (vr3322) in the PA violations section. My wife was able to drive car to our house 3-4 miles away. I was transported to pocono medical center. Their exam was a joke. I am going to see an orthopedic doctor on 11/12/2013. The pain has increased a lot since accident. I believe if the air bags had deployed I might have been spared more pain. I am insisting on a cat scan, mri, & xrays on my back to compare to previous tests done in 2009. I feel Toyota should be held accountable for defective air bags. If this had been a major crash I do not think my wife and I would be doing very well. This is inexcusable for the air bags to fail. Lives depend on them working!.

9 Body problem

Failure Date: 10/08/2013

Driving home from work I hit a large deer, approximately 200 pounds, at 45 mph, direct front end contact, causing damage to the whole front hood, grille, both front fenders, radiator, headlights, air conditioning system. Air bags did not deploy, no injury to me. Received my car from the body shop October 25th and everything looked great. After driving approximately 800 miles noticed a little body misalignment and on the 18th of October I drove to the body shop to have them look at the alignment problem and check the air bag warning light. They are working on the body issue, which I could care less about, however, after doing a scan of the car systems, with the hand held scanner, the air bag warning is not a sensor issue due to the collision with the deer, but it is in the passenger seat sensor/wiring which should be a Toyota issue. I have researched this and there are several complaints online, but I have not seen a re-call from Toyota, the fix for this situation is to replace the passenger seat at a cost of about $3400. 00. My biggest concern is why did the air bags not deploy and now is the total air bag system not functioning?.

10 Body problem

Failure Date: 06/14/2013

Dashboard of vehicle is prematurely deteriorated and gets sticky and shiny in hot weather. While driving the glare off the top of the dashboard caused me to lose sight of the vehicle in front of me which stopped. I nearly ran into the vehicle.

11 Body problem

Travelling east on interstate 10 west of tonopah, az , felt vibration and pulled to the side of the road. The right rear tire suffered a partial tread separation. Tire was replaced with spare and trip continued for another 30 miles when the left front tire suffered a complete tread separation causing nearly $1600 dollars damage in and around the wheel well. Tires were firestone fr380 p215/60r16 with less than 25,000 miles. Subsequent check of tires indicated that the tires were properly inflated. Tires had been rotated and checked on a regular basis with oil changes.

12 Body problem

Failure Date: 04/09/2013

In an attempt to park the car in a parking lot, the care accelerated unintentionally and jumped on to the curb and crashed into a trunk a tree. The car was totaled. Driver lightly injured.

13 Body problem

Failure Date: 02/18/2013

Struck from rear by another driver at high rate of speed; was thrown forward into driver side interior door panel and driver's head struck the convertible top metal top-folding structure. Believe the seat belt tensioner device failed to function properly and the air bag failed to deploy, as well. The convertible top for this model was in the up position at impact. The air bags did not deploy and the seat belt caused both the driver and passenger to lurch forward, causing serious bodily damage to both parties. Driver sustained brain injury and spinal injury and is still receiving treatment and surgery for his injuries. Passenger is also receiving on-going treatment for spinal and knee injury sustained as the result of the seat belt tensioner and air bag failure, as well.

14 Body problem

Failure Date: 10/03/2012

The dashboard of my 2006 solara is melting and sets off a high reflective glare on the windshield making it dangerous and difficult to see out of the windshield. The dash is sticky to touch - can not be wiped clean. The dash panel above the glove compartment is cracking which may effect air bag. I filed a complaint with Toyota - case # withholding in 2013 but they said they were not aware of anyone else having this problem. Toyota sent me to local dealer. Dealer gave me the same answer even after I had seen thousands of similar complaints on internet. Nothing they could do and wanted $2200 to replace it.

15 Body problem

Failure Date: 05/05/2008

At 27 months into the cars standard warranty (less than 5000 miles) the dash pad across the entire front of the car began to show signs of cracks in random areas, of varying lengths including areas where the airbags are stored. My closest Toyota dealership (south dade Toyota) in homestead , FL. Inspected the damaged areas, completed no paper work and stated "this is a common problem for some Toyota and Lexus models and there is nothings that can be done short of the customer paying for a new dash pad assembly and it's installation". My wife is afraid to drive her car, and we are afraid to sell the car for fear of liability that the air bags might not deploy when needed or deploy in an unintended manner. Toyota continues to avoid the issue despite the fact there are 100's of affected owners using theses damaged vehicles.
