The steering wheel while taking a right turn locked and wouldn't straighten all lights turned off on the panel all was locked and caused a crash because steering was locked into a turn.

2 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 04/23/2025

Driver door has remained in lock position when I tried to exit the car. Could not manually move the inside door lock and had to climb over the middle console to exit the car. I see this as a safety issue, as exiting the car slowly during an emergency could have caused an emergency. Also, for persons who are older or have physical mobility issues, climbing over console could be impossible. In addition to this issue, and possible related, is the fact the driver door actuator does not function properly. Hence, when trying to use my remote key fob, driver door will not unlock. This is potential for an emergency; for example, if trying to quickly get into car in a parking lot where there can be potential thieves, I am delayed getting safely into my car, since I have to use a key to unlock driver door. If I go around to passenger door, I would have to climb over console to get to driver seat. I am [xxx]. This is not ideal. I am original owner of the car. This issue has sporadically been a problem for several yrs. I took the car to 2 repair shops in CA. Neither could determine how to make the repair after having to remove inside door panel. I have read there are thousands of complaints about this over the yrs. , and Toyota has refused to make a recall campaign. I hope you can help initiate one. Current average estimate to try to repair this is $750. , and that does not include the lock that sometimes sticks in closed position. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

Failure Date: 07/27/2020

I was driving in east granby near a fedex delivery truck. This truck kept swerving lanes in order to get around other cars, but he did so by cutting me off multiple times. He would go to change lanes then swerve back in the original lane, causing me and other cars to need to slam brakes to stay safe. This was also in a school zone in east granby near the center about 3 miles from the bradley airport in CT. The driver kept laughing and smiling at myself and other cars and once I was able to get around him to pass and move on he flipped me off. Delivery drivers should be practicing safe driving especially in a school zone . . .

Complaint regarding sticky, shiny dashboard. I just purchased a 2006 Toyota solara. Complaint is about the dashboard. (1) the stickyness of the dashboard - holds dust and grime and can not be cleaned, and (2) the sticky surface results in a shiny/reflective creating a safety hazard as it reflects glare both day and night on the windshield. This is a health and safety issue. I bought in oct 2017 and immediately took it to the Toyota dealership near me. I was told due to the car manufacture date, I was not able to take advantage of the recall of the dashboard from Toyota. I am told the dashboard part is $1,800 - wow! this is a health & safety issue and I demand my dashboard be replaced at no charge to me.

Sudden high acceleration of 2006 Camry followed by accident. Car was in park idling while paying for car wash. This happened in a parking lot. When put into drive from stationary position witnesses heard the engine suddenly rev at a high rate. The driver thought the accelerator pedal was stuck. The Camry then rocketed across a service road at 40 mph according to police report. The car hit a light pole with the right front wheel as it went up the embankment of an adjacent parking lot. The Camry went air born and while in the air hit the side of an escalade, flipped in the air and landed on the roof and a Hyundai.

I was sitting in my car stopped behind school bus with my seatbelt on . I was rear ended my shoulderbelt did not lock and my visor dropped down and severed my forehead and I hit the top of my head. I needed 50 stitches in my forehead and needed plastic surgery. The visor, which is all steel , sliced my forehead open. I do not think a steel visor should be in front of a drivers head.

This was reported to Toyota, I am waiting for an inspection of vechicle.

13 Equipment problem

Toyota issued an extended warranty for this very common sticky dashboard issue. It creates both a safety issue - the dashboard becomes so reflective that you cant see the road - and is disgusting. I was told by the dealer that I was on a waiting list. . . To date I never was told that they ere able to fix it and now they are saying the term is over for getting it repaired. They are clearly at fault. What do I do to get it repaired now?.

14 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 07/31/2014

Dashboard turned sticky and melted in the florida sun. When I touches the dashboard my fingers stick and turn black. I worry every time I gets in the car the melting dashboard could be a safety issue. The dash reflects the sun from the windshield and it causes this reflection so it sometimes becomes hard to see. It's frustrating knowing there¿s nothing I can do about it.

Travelling east on interstate 10 west of tonopah, az , felt vibration and pulled to the side of the road. The right rear tire suffered a partial tread separation. 17 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 06/15/2011

Unintended acceleration not caused by the accelerator at least a dozen times over the 2 years I owned the car. The first time was about a month after I bought the car used. As I entered my garage at a creep, I felt the transmission drop into the lowest gear then the car leaped forward. My foot was off the accelerator and poised over the brake petal as I was almost in my parking position. Shortly thereafter, I took car to the t. Dealer who reprogrammed the transmission. Similar sudden acceleration in several scenarios occurred at least a dozen times over the next 2 years at low speeds. Each time the sudden acceleration occurred instantly when the transmission dropped from a higher gear into a lower gear. I am a back yard mechanic and have been driving for over 50 years. I feel that one of two things could be wrong. 1. The wrong transmission oil was used. Of the 4 vehicles I have had here, the Camry was the only one which would climb over a one inch edge at the garage entrance without using the accelerator. The Camry did not have much transmission slip which could be a design fault or more probably an oil with the wrong slip characteristics. 2. The transmission lock-up that comes on in overdrive was malfunctioning.

21 Equipment problem

Failure Date: 10/09/2009

The dash pad surface started to become dark in color and sticky to the touch in the sunshine. The dash pad material was very shinny and sticky to the touch, almost like a liquid. The glare from the shinny, sticky surface causes a glare on the inside of the windshield that makes the car dangerous to drive. . . And a greater concern are the airbags in the dash affected by this surface deterioration. I took the car to two local Toyota dealerships seeking resolution and was told they have seem numerous instances of this and there was nothing they could do short of my paying approx. $1,500 to replace the part. Contact with Toyota customer care had them telling me I had done something to cause the situation. To-date the car (my wife's vehicle) sits inside, under a custom car cover and has less than 11,000 miles. . . We consider the car unsafe to drive.

Our 2007 Toyota Camry's dashboard is melting. It is very sticky. It has been this way for 6 years. We weren't sure what was wrong at first, because we never saw anything like this before. We bought this car brand new. The sticky dashboard reflects the sun and since we live in florida this is very dangerous. We are also concern about airbags too. Is there a recall for this car part?.

I was driving my 2008 Toyota Camry hybrid near shreveport, la using the cruise control, when I suddenly found myself off the road on the sholder. I applied the brakes to no avail. I lost control and rolled over twice. I had 22 staples in my head and a burn on my neck from the seat belt. I reported this to Toyota, but praised the safety features for saving my life and purchased a 2009 Camry hybrid when they became available. My family and friends encouraged me to report this because my experince was so similar to that of other Camry owners. My car was deemed a total loss by my insurance company. Toyota's website indicated that hybrids were not part of the recall, however when I took my car in for 18000 -mile service, the dealer said it had been recalled! a repair was made to the gas petal.

I own a 2006 Toyota Camry. Recently the speakers sounded horrible. When I went to check them I noticed the speaker covers in the rear window were crumbling and falling onto the tops of the speakers. After I researched this issue I found hundreds of other people who owned Camrys of various years who all have the same problem. Toyota's resolution is to replace the entire back panel for a cost of $700 that includes labor. These are $30 speaker covers that could be replaced for less than $75 installed. With the numerous cases reported on the internet with hundreds of people having the same problem they should be recalled or come up with a viable solution that isn't $700.
