I purchased a Toyota Camry le 2007 model with 2. 4 liter 4 cylinder on Mar 18 2007. After first 15 -30 days, I started noticing a squeak or a kind of rattle from the front driver seat belt support area. The service technician at the dealers site was able to successfully reproduce the problem but said everything is normal. After lot of effort from my side to convince the gravity of the problem to the dealer considering seat belt as most critical element for drivers safety, dealer agreed to fix the problem. After a week long effort the problem was partially fixed. The squeaks are audible even now when the vehicle is turned right or occasionally when the surface of the road is uneven. The technician at dealers site acknowledge this behavior but is not able to provide a permanent fix to this problem. The problem is found to be only on the drivers side seat belt b pillar area. The passenger side seat belt on the contrary do not have this problem. I am deeply concerned with safety of the vehicle since proper analysis as to root cause of this problem has not been done by the service personnel. One can imagine the security risk this problem poses to the vehicle driver as it has the potential to cause a seat belt malfunction request NHTSA to kindly investigate this matter with due diligence and ensure manufacturer does a safety recall for this problem and takes all obligation necessary to fix the problem.
