While driving uphill all of a sudden I received multiple warnings ( noise, brake light, exclamation point, and a message about abs). I went to make a right turn on a street to see what was wrong with my car and had no brakes. The brake pedal did not move at all. Realizing I could not stop, I drove on the grass and coasted until the car came to a stop. To say this was terrifying is an understatement. I could have been killed or I could have killed someone else, I had the car towed to Toyota and was told it was the brake actuator and it would be $2054. 00 for the part. I never received any recall about this problem.
Brakes fail at random times, cannot adequately stop car when problem occurs. Problems occurs several times a week, causing near accidents multiple times, including with young passengers on board. Vsc light and brake lights appear when problem occuring.
Abs lights comes on, brakes lights come on, check engine light, the milage hand stop working and the air wont get cold when this happens.
On multiple occasions while driving brake warning lights come on brake pedal sinks to floor. Had this fixed as part of recall in 2014. Problem is now back. Brake fluid level was just above minimum. Added some brake fluid and problem stopped.
Tl-the contact owns a 2008 Toyota Camry. The contact states that while driving at approximately 25 mph, the master warning light, the brake warning light, electrically control brake warning light, the abs warning light and the vsc slip indicator warning light illuminated. In addition, an error was on the dashboard stating check vsc system. The contact mention the brake pedal was harsh depressing but it stop the lights to from illuminating. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 102,000. Ak.
While this vehicle in the dashboard the rpm keep on flapping up and down , speedometer stayed still in the lower position , the a/c keep on turn on and off on its own and the abs and brake light came on and stayed on.
The speedometer suddenly stopped working, my abs/brake light came on and then ac suddenly went out. Toyota stated I needed a brake actuator. The repair cost $2615. My question to them is why was there a recall for the same part on the2008 Toyota Camry hybrid. I have never had or heard of a repair on this part. Of course, my warranty had expired.
Abs & brake light comes on randomly while driving my 2008 Camry. When this happens, speedometer drops to 0 and a/c is shut off. I took it to a Toyota dealer to check the problem. They diagnosed it as an abs actuator problem and quoted $2500 for replacement. I surfed internet and found that 2007-2011 Camry hybrids had exact same problem covered by Toyota using warranty extension. However, this is not covered. I called Toyota customer service and they said my VIN number is not in the range so it will not be covered. Failure to fix this part is going to be a safety concern because it can lead to brake failure. Case # opened with Toyota is 1505052731.
The abs and brake light comes on every time after an oil changed my dash board is melting.
While driving or idling, brake and abs light get lit and speedometer is not working, odometer is jumping up and down and heat needle is intermittently going normal/cold. The mileage meter is not working and this all goes away when those lights either reset on their own or some other way not known to me how. While driving, not knowing how fast this vehicle going is very dangerous, I am a female and I drive most so the time during nights and I am very worry if something happens. I went for Toyota service and they mentioned that the root cause of this situation was that I did not bring my car for maintenance with Toyota in the first two years which is not true. I want to know if Toyota is not doing something on this regards, I do not have that quantity of money to correct the situation and they mentioned that if it is not corrected I will have an accident because the brakes will fail.
Car has abs, brake warning, vsc, and master brake warning lights on. From what I have researched this could be potentially dangerous.
I have a 2008 Camry le and in earlier this year I noticed the abs and brake lights on the dashboard come on intermittently, tachometer bounces up and down and speedometer shows 0. This keeps happening intermittently. Unlocking and re-locking the door locks resets to normal but only lasts so long. Like some many other people who complained about this , I am concerned about paying $3-4 k. A local Toyota dealer mechanic said he'd never seen a brake actuator on a Camry go bad. Really. I would hope Toyota will do the right thing and have a service campaign to resolve this. Just like the one they have going for the hybrid Camry in the same model year range.
The issues started with both the abs and brake lights coming on every so often. The lights would come on for about a 30 seconds to a minute and then turn off. This would happen maybe once or twice a day. Then they began to turn several times throughout the day for longer periods of time. When the abs and break lights are on, the speedometer and odometer falls to zero, and the temperature gage jumps up and down. The ac also begins to blow hot air when these lights are on and the car begins to shake when idle. It is very unsafe when the speedometer is not working and you cant tell how fast you are driving. It is also an issue when the other gauges in your vehicle are not working as you cant tell if something else is seriously wrong (for example, you cant tell if your car is actually running hot or cold because the temperature dial jumps up and down). I have researched this issue and there are a lot of people out there experiencing this same issue. I also reported these issues to Toyota and shared with them my research and they basically aren't going to do anything about it.
The contact owns a 2008 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 mph, the abs and brake warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel. In addition, the speedometer would drop to zero and the rpms revved up. The dealer diagnosed that the abs brake actuator needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 66,685.
On my way home from work, at approximately 4:00 pm, while driving at approximately 35 mph, I noticed my dashboard panel lights fluttering, and that the panel instruments were moving up and down (specifically my tachometer and temperature gauge). My speedometer was not registering any speed, even though I was doing about 35 mph, and the brake and abs lights were on and bright red. I took the car to the dealer next day, and I was told that the abs actuator was defective and it would cost me $2492. 00, plus labor to replace the abs actuator. I was also told that regular braking would work, but the abs would not. I like my Toyota Camry 2008. My prior 1996 Camry is still running well, and I also liked it. That's why I bought the 2008 model. What I don't like a is a car with under performing, unsafe, faultily engineered or substandard parts, which may lead to accidents, loss of life and customer frustration.
It is extremely difficult to understand why Toyota has not been advised and demanded to recall Toyota Camry year models 2008 when there are so many issues with regard to the brake actuator assembly failing in these vehicles. After reading an extended volume of complaints on many sites and blogs with regard to the failing of these assemblies, I now see that nthsa has demanded Toyota and Lexus recall 2013 and 2014 year models because of this same defective issue. Why is Toyota not being demanded to recall all year models that have these defective brake actuator assemblies???? it is incomprehensible to me that a recall can be made or demanded for a current year model however all of us who own 2008 Toyota vehicles (especially and no explainable reason, Camry's) have the exact same problem with no concern. Will it take a death or mutilation to further nthsa to mandate that Toyota to recall a totally defective brake system part. Toyota demands approximately $4,000 to replace the brake actuator assembly in these 2008 Toyota Camry's. That is robbery without a weapon. Why will current year 2013 and 2014 Toyota and Lexus owners get their cars repaired "gratis". I would love to hear an explanation of why 2013 and 2014 Toyota and Lexus owners will receive a "complimentary" recall of the brake actuator defect while we all drive a 2008 Camry with squaking, jerking, slams to a stop when starting in reverse and short of it sounding like it will break at any moment with all the brake warning lights beaming (and cannot get the car inspected for legal road use because of the brake issue). Please please value the 2008 Camry owners. Bottom line is that this defect is not created by the car owner. It is a defective part that Toyota placed within these 2008 Camry models and they will not remedy the situation. Please help. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Car : 2008 Toyota Camry le, 30k miles still under factory warranty problem : unintended sudden braking after Toyota's recall description: I am owner of 2008 Toyota Camry le. My car experienced an unintended acceleration problem once. Local Toyota dealer applied recall to fix this issue. Now my car applies unintended brakes. This has happened 3 times in last 15 days, each of the symptoms described below 1) trying to coast to stop, car was going at 50mph, as soon as I step foot off pedal, car slowed drastically, brake light didn't come on but car reduce speed from 50mph to 35mph and kept on reducing. Note that I never pressed brake pedal but brakes were applied automatically to wheels. This happened twice. 2) trying to merge into freeway, speed between 45-50mph & trying to accelerate, suddenly lost speed from 50 to 40mph in matter of 2 seconds, my foot was on accelerator all the time. We were almost rear ended by vehicle following us, I request you to look into this cars stopping by themselves are equally as bad as cars accelerating by themselves. We have experienced first hand when we were almost rearended by a car. Kindly look into this.
