Melting and sticky dash and I have not received a letter concerning this. There was a recall but I have yet to receive any information that will allow me to have it replaced.
Trunk leaks during heavy rainstorms. There's mildew in the trunk space, which is infiltrating the cabin and I'm breathing it in. I'm certain this happens when the vehicle is stationary, but uncertain as to whether it happens while the vehicle is in motion. Belongings that were left in the trunk have been soaked through. This occurred while the car was parked in front of my house on a public street. This has been an ongoing problem for a few years, so the date listed below as to when it happened is not a pinpointed date.
I have a 2009 Toyota Camry , after having it for three years the sun visors fell apart they started tearing apart literally. . Then they fell off on there own . I told the Toyota dealership and was told the warranty or recall had just expired I don't remember which . . Also the headliner on my vehicle started dropping just as fast as my visors , this is my first vehicle and I am very disappointed on how it's coming apart.
On my way to work and another driver just rammed his struck against my car his tired ended up on top of my car it was a hard hit and I even thought I had my seat belt I my airbags did it go off at all the impact was so hard and I would like to know why didn't my airbags deployed my question is do I have any airbags that really concerned me and would like Toyota to look at my car as soon as possible in my opinion my airbags should have went off I was hit by a bigger veichle and I would like Toyota to take reposability since I had witness that saw the accident and testified that I was not at fault if there is no airbags in my car it's new to me because when I went to buy the car the only thing high was the mage and I was promise that if anything went wrong with the car Toyota will be responsible for it. I think that Toyota took advantage and was trying to get rid of the car so I got the wrong end of the deal. If I find out I never had any air bag si should no be reponsie le to pay a die out of my pocket.

I purchased a new 2009 Toyota Camry se, after owning ten Toyota vehicles since 1978. I still own four today! I have never experienced anything like this issue in another car. In 2014-2015 (estimated) my entire dash board became sticky, as if I had poured oil on it. Today it releases a thick sticky residue onto the front windshield when parked in the sun. This makes the dash impossible to wipe. . . As towels, sponges, even leaves, etc. , get stuck to it (see pics). I can't drive my car without first wiping the inside of the windshield each time it is parked in the sun, or this residue makes it opaque (see pics. . . After wiping it). This situation is exacerbated when driving towards the sun (see pics) and is a safety issue!! I'm concerned how the deteriorated condition of my dash affects the deployment of the passenger airbag or if it still even operates correctly? on 8/16/19, I discovered that Toyota extended its warranty to ten years from the original purchase date. Mine was 7/29/09. . . Putting me only two weeks out of their 10-year warranty coverage. Toyota corporate and my dealership told me they could not offer any assistance in my case ("1 day or 1 mile over warranty and we won't help"). When challenged, Toyota could not confirm letters were mailed to all affected owners, only that an effort was made to send letters to some owners in 2015. Multiple models over several years are involved. I spent 8 hours on the phone appealing their decision, without success. A new dashboard costs $2600. 00 (installed)!! I reported this issue here because it is a manufacturing/safety issue resulting from Toyota's use of sub par materials. . . Like defective windshield wipers. . . If you can't see out of your windshield at freeways speeds because of the glare from your dashboard, or the residue stuck on your windshield. . . You are at risk of an accident. Please contact me if you have questions?.

Bumper to bumper traffic during rush hour; Dodge truck w/trailer hitch stopped on a dime; I ran into back of truck; but then my car lunged forward on its own accord and I hit the truck a second time. I had my foot on the brake and it lunged! car is in the shop but I still have not found out what the cost of damage will be or the time frame for repairs. It has lunged before; but I have not been in an accident before this because of the sudden accerleration.
Tl - the contact owns a 2009 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that the dashboard started to melt and there was a sticky substance all over it. Beginning in summer 2014, the 2009 Toyota Camry le dashboard has gradually become very shiny. The shininess now produces a glare on the windshield and makes it difficult to see through the windshield at times. In addition, the shiny area of the dashboard has become increasingly sticky with a tacky feel to it. No commercial products have been used to clean the windshield, and car is under cover the majority of the time.
Glare due to melted dashboard cause delay reaction due to poor visibility resulting in double impact. The dashboard issue looks to be a cosmetic issue but it really should be a recall as it is clearly a poor manufacturing product that when in contact with the sun turns into a shinny sticky residue that reflects the direct light right into DE driver and passenger's face. Toyota should stand by their product and replace the poorly designed dashboards before a fatality occurs.
The interior dashboard is melting.
I rear ended another vehicle and the air bags never deployed. As much damaged that my car sustained no air bag deployed.
The dash board is melting and one sunvisro fallen off and other one hanging ready to fall off.
So far, there is no accident, (I had to place a date on this form so I can submit) however, I am concerned with my melting dashboard. This is creating a sun glare on my driver's side windshield, it could cause an accident, if I cannot see out of my windshield while driving.
I have a 2009 Camry xle with the sticky dash issue! the dash is turning into a glue like stubstance. It also has a noticable smell when it is hot out where the dash is letting off fumes. There is a glare which is amlified from his issue. Im not sure if the fumes are toxic but I have to keep the windows open to air it out when I 1st get in. When I purchased the car I even bought the extended warranty from Toyota and a interior warranty! well guess what! its not covered! the interior trim warranty by perma plate states it covers cracked staining or faded dash and trim not sticky! I was told this is a manufacturing defect where the glue is comming through the dash. I went to the dealer and they told me to call Toyota customer service ! I call and got the standard sympathy statement of its out of warranty! to try to get a discount from your dealer? well I bought this car in maine, moved to florida in 2010 so yes there is a local dealer but not where I bought this car.
Tl-the contact owns a 2009 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that the clue on the dash board has come apart and caused a glare on the windsheild. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for a diagnostic testing, who stated that the entire dashboard needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 44,500. Rg.
Dashboard is sticky and shiny. I brought the car to west kendall Toyota. Advisor said he would get me a quote. The quote for me is $400 to replace the dashboard. This is not right and Toyota should cover the total cost. The sheen on the dash also creates a glare on sunny days, which create a safety hazard. Toyota is avoiding a recall for the use of inferior parts.
The contact owns a 2009 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that the dashboard surface became sticky and melted. The contact had to use the visor while driving because the glare on the windshield was blocking her visibility. The vehicle was not taken to a mechanic. From the start of this year I have realized that my dashboard seems to be melting. Its sticky and shiny and the shininess becomes distracting. I cant wipe it much because particles will stick to it. Toyota is stating I must pay for a new dashboard but I feel that isn't fair due to a defect with the car dashboard. I live in the us virgin islands and temperatures are always hot. I have owned a few cars and been in all my family members cars and have never experienced a melting dashboard.
While driving s on i95 just north of ponte vedra exit between jacksonville and st. Augustine, FL a large piece of tire retread/recap came down in my lane and I had no option but to hit it going between 65-70mph causing damage to my front and rear bumpers and unknown damage underneath until it is checked out. Tire recap causes many accidents or vehicular damage with no repercussions. If I were to drop large items from my vehicle that damaged other vehicles or caused accidents, there would be severe repercussions. Money is no excuse for safety, make them pay for tires or stay off the road!.
The car was purchased new in 2008. I lived in GA from 2008-2012 and moved to TX in 2012. I did not experience dash issues while living in GA. I first noticed my dashboard was "sticky" when trying to remove a parking voucher from the dash area. The voucher was stuck to the dash and other areas of the dash were sticky to the touch. I tried removing pieces of the voucher and noticed the "stickness" of the dashboard was coming off onto my hands. The stickiness has worsened to the point that whenever the dash is touched the sticky residue is transferred onto hands and fingerprints are left behind. The dashboard seems to be melting and touching the surface creates "gouges" in the dash. The area where the voucher was placed and removed is worn and has lost its texture. The increased stickiness makes the dash shiny and a glare is present when driving. The sticky/melting dash is a result of dash material defects which should be replaced by Toyota free of charge.
Sticky dashboard provides glare. This causes distraction and glare. Because of stickiness, I can;t mount my gps and that forces me to keep looking down and not pay attention to road. I had many close calls and Toyota would not fix this issue. I never have this problem in my 2004 Camry. It seems this is a manufacturing issue.
The dash is melting and continues to melt. . Toyota refuses to replace it. Dealer lipton Toyota advises that Toyota will only pay 50% of the $1500 it would cost to have it replaced,.
The car dash board is melting away. It gets very sticky and if barely touched chips away in chunks. When the sun hits the dash it makes a glare that has many times almost caused me to wreck the car because I could not see. It smells weird.
The contact owns a 2009 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that the there was a glare from the windshield on the dashboard, which was obstructing the contact's vision of the roadway. In addition, the contact stated that the dashboard was abnormally shiny. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis. The technician stated the vehicle was functioning as designed. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 35,800.
I cant give a definitve date when I noticed but I did notice it seemed to appear as if I had put a coat of conditioner on it, I assumed it was just a matter of the heat causing excess conditioner to leach out. I attempted to wipe it off and realized it was sticky and it was near the warranty expiration time. One cold moring I got in the car and realized no normal dashboard should look like that and pressed it with my fingernail and realized it was soft. I take my car in on fairly regular basis to a Toyota dealer. Which is why I believe the service technicians saw the pattern of change and choose not to document it or say anything as it may involve a problem that would not involve profit for Toyota or the dealership. My last trip was for a defect on the visor and I mentioned it to the service agent who choose not to make any comment which I noted as odd ( a typical action when management has instruced employees not to comment on a known problem). A month or so later I received a notice in the mail that they woul take care of the problem with a complimentary fix to the problem. The letter I received appears to be a stalling tactic to get customers to wait, not fix the problem and or seek reimbursement utill it's too late for redress. On my last visit I insisted they make note of the problem due to dangerous glare being reflected off the dashboard onto the windshield. I stated it was a grave safety issue. The letter stated they needed to acquire enouh parts to fix the cars and do no contact the dealer to wait for a notice to bring your car in. If I had an accident it would not take over six months to acquire the parts if I or the insurance company was paying for it. Believe me if ceo's of Toyota or there loved ones were driving with this problem they would immediately fix the problem, they probably have and kept it off the record.
The dash and steering wheel are melting where they are tacky.
I have a Toyota Camry 2009. My car went through the recall services, Toyota had for the acceleration problems through one of their dealers. However, on 02/08/2013, I was involved in an accident, wherein I felt this problem myself. On a busy road I may have been driving between 35-40 mph, when all of a sudden, when I applied brakes, my car wouldn't stop but accelerated to maybe double the speed and hit the car in front of me. It appeared as if there are no brakes in the car. The impact was so severe, that I am still nervous and shaken up with the incident. The person driving the car I hit, thought I was speeding. But it definitely was the acceleration problem. This problem has not yet resolved and could lead to many more accidents. I have reported this problem to Toyota dealership and on their suggestion to the Toyota customer experience team. I was extremely lucky, that there were no physical injuries in the accident, but it could have been fatal.
