The car is consuming oil more than normal. Toyota knows about the issue and is refusing to repair the issue. Issue was never notified to me via mail or any other type of communication.
It consume too much engine oil. I have to add oil every other day. After 1000 miles it becomes dry . I took it to the mechanic, he said all the Toyota Camry 2009 have this issue, the engine needs to be replaced.
The car is using excessive amounts of oil. 4-6 quarts between 3000 mile oil changes! the problem has gotten increasingly worse since noticing an increase in consumption starting around 2016. Only after searching the internet for a fix was I made aware that this problem is well known by Toyota. I never received any bulletins or recalls from Toyota as they have claimed. I hope they will provide some type of help in repairing this issue as it is very costly to maintain, much less repair. Very disappointing from a seemingly reliable manufacturer that claims to build dependable vehicles.
Excessive oil use. .
I am having issues with back passenger window on driver side. I have to press the button at least three times before it rolls up. Also my car consumes oil. The black, top of my dashboard is sticky and has cracks. I have been to my local Toyota dealers and no one has addressed these issues. How do I get remedy before contacting legal council?.
Vehicle has excessive oul consumption. We received notification from Toyota of the problem.
Ntsb: 2009 Toyota Camry: consumer stated the vehicle had a consistent problem with the left side motor mount, dog bone, and a poor quality rubber insulator component. The consumer stated she was shown where the insulator had cracked and split.
The "low oil pressure" light flickered briefly a few days ago, then again the evening of 1/10/2016. I had my cousin check the oil level morning of 1/11/2016. He said it was extremely low. I went to the service place that changes my oil. He had to add 3 quarts of oil and said I needed to keep a close check on it. I am very diligent in my oil changes and maintaining my car. This has never happened before.
Engine consuming oil.
Tl-the contact owns a 2009 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that while at an independent mechanic for a routine oil change the technision found that there is excessive oil coming from the vehicle engine and is need to be repaired. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 85,000. Aw.
Oil change done June 22,2015. Went to local mechanic to check all fluids before drive to tampa. Oil level very low. Had oil added on August 22 ,2015. On October 27, 2015 I noticed a red light on left side of dashboard saying maint reqd. Google says time for oil change. Sticker from toyato says next oil change 95,330 miles, im only 94,100 or close. Is there a recall. I contacted Toyota customer service and was told that there was an oil problem, windshield wiper and sun visor problem, which I had not recognized the oil problem. I thought the dealership had just neglected to put the right amount of oil in doing the oil change. Prior to problem I received possible recall notice for something else . Campaign # id#15v577 reference # 878051. I will be calling Toyota (autonation) in pinellas park about problem. The light comes on whenever I start up the engine and stays on for about 2 to 3 minutes while driving.
Around 140,000 miles (3-1-15) I noticed that I was staring to add oil between oil changes. It has become worse with time (and mileage). I now (9-12-16) need to check and add oil at least every three weeks.
The car is consuming excessive oil. Have to add 2-3 quarts of oil between oil changes about 5000 miles. Problem started arround 35000 miles. It now has 65400 miles. The consumption has progressively increased.
The car uses an excessive amount of oil. The problem started around 45,000 miles and continues to get worse. Toyota knows about the problem, and has sent me a TSB. Under the TSB they will top off your oil, seal up any way that oil goes in or out and you drive 1000 miles and they measure the oil to see if you have lost a full quart. I have never in my 40 years of driving had a car that lost that much oil. Toyota is avoiding taking care of their customers. They should be forced to fix it. They know they have bad pistons.
I rear ended another vehicle and the air bags never deployed. As much damaged that my car sustained no air bag deployed.
The contact owns a 2009 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that when the vehicle was started, the service oil warning light illuminated. The contact mentioned that the vehicle was consuming an excessive amount of oil. The vehicle was taken to a dealer. The technician advised the contact to bring the vehicle back at intervals of 1,200 miles and another time at 1,500 miles to check the oil levels for the manufacturer standards. The technician informed the contact that the piston ring possibly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 82,000.
Traveling on cruise control at 60 mph on freeway - heard rattle and metalic sounds so I pulled off to side. When my mechanic opened up the oil pan there was no oil and lots of small metal shards - blown engine. As it happens I had scheduled the routine maintence (every 5000 mi. ) so all I saw on the dash display was the usual scheduled maintence message - no low oil notifications or, anything out of the ordinary.
The contact owns a 2009 Toyota Camry. The contact stated while operating the vehicle, the check engine warning light remained illuminated. Additionally, the odor of burning oil was present inside the vehicle and the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed the vehicle and determined the vehicle was experiencing excessive oil consumption. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 45,000.
I was driving the car to work and the abs light and red brake light came on in the dashboard. Also, the rpm gauge was going up and down. I stopped and turned off the car. When I turned the car back on, the lights came back. I took it into just a jiffy lube because it was the closest car place near me. They checked the brake lights, brake fluid, car battery, and checked for functional issues. There were none. I took it to a Toyota dealership and they did a diagnostic that came back with code u0029 for communication loss at skid control (ecu) - engine control unit needs to be replaced. They also checked out all operational functions of the car and did not find any other issues. They gave a $2k estimate to repair the ecu. The car is still driveable and the lights still come on intermittently. Sometimes when the abs and brake light come on though, the air conditioning stops working and then the spedometer sticks at 0. If I stop the car and turn it back on, it sometimes clears up. The vehicle is only 6 years old. I had my last Toyota for 14 years and drove it for 239k miles. I am concerned about the safety of a usually reliable vehicle and think it must be a defect.
Car was running rough, went down my drive way, engine light came on. Had it towed to Toyota dealership and was told coolant in cylinders and engine was wrecked.
I own a 2009 Camry which I bought as a new car. Few days ago I was approaching my garage driveway at a normal slow speed when my car suddenly accelerated by its own. I tried to press the brake at hard as I could to stop the car but it continue to speed up till it smashed into the garage wall and broke it. The impact was so severe the stair case on the other side of the wall go displaced and shattered. Air bags did not deploy. I kept on pressing the brakes but the wheels were rotating so fast that the front tire got burst after rubbing so fast against the garage floor. The vehicle finally came to stop after the impact but the entire garage and the house was full of black smoke due to burning tires. This uncontrolled sudden acceleration might kill someone if it had happened on a city street. This is a severe problem and must be investigated thoroughly to avoid similar cases in future. We demand that the regulatory agencies and state and federal transportation boards shall investigate this case and avoid similar future incidents.

Ref: Toyota service bulletin "t-sb-0094-11" dated Aug 11, 2011 background: car purchased in 2011 as a certified used Toyota, approx 34k miles, currently has about 72k miles issue: parts in the engine are known to create problems by Toyota, customers not notified and most of the complaints I've read are of customers with mileage upwards of 60k who have now been advised by Toyota that they are responsible for the costly engine repairs. Toyota analysts/adjusters informed me that since only about 4% of the Toyota engines are affected by this bad engine part they are not doing a recall. I asked them why I hadn't been informed in writing of this known defect and their answer was that they only advise their technicians. This information could have helped me be more alert and understand why I was having to perform so many oil changes and to also prompt me to get my car tested at a Toyota facility. My car was still running, the engine didn't seize up. The piston parts that were bad finally broke but since Toyota claims it was a "failure to maintain lubrication" issue they feel they are not liable. They also said I should have been checking my oil every single time I turned on my car!!! well I'm gathering all of my documentation of my service maintenance records and will be retaining a lawyer. I truly believe it's just a matter of time before more customers come forward and this becomes the next civil action lawsuit against Toyota.
Moved to TX in 2012 and have not had any previous starting issues before moving. Attempted to start the vehicle during my lunch break, engine turned over but was unable to start. Attempted to start the car again and the engine cranked and started with a hard "jolt" as if the gear shift was out of position. Several days later the temperature was warmer and the same problem occurred. Scheduled a appointment with my local Toyota dealership and was told all systems were normal and they could not determine the cause of the problem since they could not replicate starting issue. The starting issue occurs on relatively hot days, turning the key to "on" before starting does not help the problem, the second start attempt is usually a "hard" start such that it feels as if the engine is jerking. Toyota should investigate electrical/fuel/and air components to determine the cause of this starting problem, especially since the issues seems to be temperature related.
Letter to senator cornyn on behalf of constituent re Toyota defect letter for his Toyota model. 2009 Toyota Camry. Engine operates with excessive oil usage. Consumes/loses 1 quart of oil in 700 miles as of this filing date. I went to Toyota service center at 12/2011 at 82,700 miles and they said no problem - 1 quart usage per 1000 miles is normal. Also, door locks stopped working at 45,000 miles or so.
I had a online appointment with Toyota of vacaville at 0:930 at vacaville CA and I dropped off the vehicle and was told it would be ready at lunch. I came to pick up at 13:30 and it was not ready. They did not fix the urgent recall . Too busy selling oil changes and tire changes. Took car home at 13:30 please investigate if selling out serves fixing recalls I now just want a refund after this . They don't care if my car suddenly accelerate they just want to sell service. I hope and this is why I am writing this my car doesn't suddenly do this and injury kids and stuff but my feeling from the dealer at vacaville is that selling products is what they do.
On Wednesday, 2/16/11, at 4:50 p. M. I was traveling down sudbury street in boston, MA to make a right hand turn onto congress street in boston. I came down the hill and stopped at a red traffic light. My car, for no apparent reason, began to race and would not stop. I applied more pressure to the brake and shifted the car into park. It continued to race for 5-10 seconds after I did this. This was a very frightening incident, given there was a stopped vehicle in front of me, a vehicle behind me and many pedestrians at that hour. I no longer feel secure with the car and am anticipating that this may re-occur at any time.
In my 2009 Toyota Camry le, the recirculation switch turns off after about three minutes, letting in air from the outside. This is an ongoing problem whenever I'm behind a diesel vehicle. My car fills with fumes that affect my breathing. The first time I went to the Toyota dealer, they said it was a standard fix, and would cost me $50. When I went in a second time, and said I didn't want to pay, they said there was no way to fix it. It's clear to me that this is a design defect, that will have a detrimental effect on the driver and passengers, and that Toyota needs to fix it.
My car experienced sudden & strong engine surging - the pedal did not seem to be involved. Yet, required driving at slow speeds and the brake had to be applied very strongly to control the speed. It is a 2009 Camry, but not on the Toyota recall list (this was confirmed w/the Toyota dealership). The Toyota dealership could not replicate the problem, found no indication of it in the computer/electronic logs in the car. They had their service manager & quality control managers check it. No one can identify the problem. Yet, it was real and quite frightening. I am concerned and believe that there are problems other than the gas pedal issue currently being investigated.

He stated that after having the recall repair performed on the brakes, 3 days later while driving 40 mph the vehicle lost power; however, the engine was still on. The vehicle was towed and donated to a facility. The VIN was not available. The failure and current mileages were 16,000.
