I have been owned this vehicle for last 5 yrs. I have complained about the speed every time I go to the dealer for service. I have complained about the down hill speed. Even if you put the cruise control on 45mil/hr still car gets speed up to 90 to 100 miles. On flat road car doesn't slow down even you do not push gas paddle. The dealer said it happens when you down the hill even if you use cruise control. I will take some body with me and video recording and post on line. I have been this problem since I bought the car. I have contacted Toyota for this but no result. My wife scare to drive this car. Please advise me how to resolve this issue or how to seek legal advise. I look forward to hearing back from you.
My son was driving on i35 in kansas. Had cruise control set to 78 mph. He indicated speed stated to increase on an uphill segment and speed reach ~ 100 mph on down hill side before he brake and regained control of vechile. Car was acquired in October/November 2009.
2010 Toyota Camry. Consumer writes to address concerns and observations with vehicle the consumer noticed when driving at highway speeds, when he removed his foot from the accelerator pedal he expected the vehicle to naturally slow down with no braking necessary. However, the vehicle did not respond immediately. The vehicle acted as though the cruise control was engaged. When the engine did respond, there was a 2 to 5 second search pattern engaged with a sweep low rpm to high rpm while it tried to find a performance solution and set point.
The cruise control on my 2010 Toyota Camry sometimes continues to accelerate the vehicle after I take my hand off the cruise control accelerate lever. The speed of the car continues to accelerate until I hit the brake.
My complaint is that where my cruise control is at 5' o'clock steering wheel it reset is up and hit my leg causing the car to run up with out me knowing why. This has happen twice. This needs to be moved to another spot on the steering wheel. I have a 2010 Camry se. I report it to dealer they did think it was a problem.
The contact owns a 2010 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that while driving downhill with the cruise control engaged, the vehicle accelerated more than intended. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the contact was informed that the vehicle was performing normally. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was 500 and the current mileage was 12,000. Updated 05/15/lj the consumer stated he noticed a problem with the cruise control while on a trip. He set the cruise control at 60 mph. As he traveled down a hill on a moderate grade, the vehicle quickly reached a speed of 71 mph. He disengaged the cruise control many times since and it would not control the speed of the vehicle on a down hill grade. Updated 05/23/12.
