On 2/18/23 I took my car into the repair shop to investigate a clunking sound upon braking. The control arm was broken and the level of corrosion is extensive. I am the original and only owner and the car has never been out of florida or on the beach or immersed in water. Toyota of north America in plano, TX said they could not receive my pictures and that there was no one at Toyota that I could send documents to. They said if there was a recall I would be notified.
Small accident.
I was braking on turning into a parking spot? but instead of braking it was like I had hit the accelerator. I kept stomping the break but it would not slow down only accelerated. The car went up over the curb into a metal fence and almost hit a brick wall. I've never experienced anything like this with any car I've ever had and I've had quite a few Toyota's and a lot of them have been Camrys.
I was in a car accident on 12/14/19 . I was heading out on driveway in my apartment complex, sitting out in street a little bit in bike lane waiting on traffic to pass on a busy street (bellflower blvd. ) car from far lane changed over and hit my car on front driver side by front tire knocked into parked vehicle. Car lost all fluids airbags did not deploy. My vehicle was totaled. I suffered fractured rib, brides, swollen hand and finger. I loved my Camry never had any major problem. I felt like airbags should have deployed. And yes I did take it in for the recall.
Car was rear ended and I hit my head on dashboard due to the seat belt pretensioner and retractor not engaging. Car was stationary at a red light. Nyc police accident report: mv-2019-100-000731 report 731.
I have big car accident on 1/30/2019. It happened on freeway 22east in orange county southern California. My car is between the 3rd and 5th car. It was total loss but the air bag wasn't deploy.
While driving at 80 mph on freeway the sun roof exploded. Sounded like a gun shot. The visor was closed but when opened to inspect saw a large hole in the glass and glass was shattered. The temperature outside was about 39 degrees f partly cloudy and the time was about 4:30 pm. There were no other vehicles around nor overpasses or overhangs.
Automatic door lock and unlock stops working. My car had just passed 60k when the driver side door will not open or lock by pressing the key fob. After couple month all 4 doors have the same issue. I have to lock and unlock all 4 doors by manually unlocking using the key. After research found out the door actuators have failed on all 4 doors and multiple Toyota and Lexus owners are experiencing the same issue.
I was driving west on ok hwy 412, and I heard an explosion and shattered glass falling inside the sliding cover. The sunroof had exploded.
Just purchased this car and the front bumper rivets came a loose while driving car causing the plastic covering in the front the protects came apart. And I was on 35 coming from dallas texas to austin texas.
I rear ended a Jeep wrangler going about 30 miles an hour on the interstate. The Jeep was stationary and my car was in motion my airbags did not deploy and I hit my forehead on the steering wheel which caused a large knot and cut on my forehead.
Door check spot weld failure on driver's side door.
On 4/15/16 dealer diagnosed my 2012 Camry with 28k miles with the moon assembly structure rattle. Estimated cost to repair $1300. I believe this is the subject of TSB 0151-13. I only heard the pop when driving the vehicle, and it was worse on sunny/hot days. I would hear the pop when driving and turning at lower speeds.
Sunroof glass exploded. While driving on the highway coming home, we heard a loud explosion from above. We thought something had dropped from the sky and fell on our car. The sunroof had shattered and glass was falling onto us as I was driving. I had to drive about 5 miles(going about 40 mph) until I was able to exit the highway. Upon observation there was a huge hole in the sunroof with glass continuing to fall as I continued to drive home.
Takata recall. Sunroof/moonroof makes a popping, thumping noise when driving over uneven pavement and when turning into my driveway as if something is lose. Vehicle has only 23k miles and no longer covered under mfg warranty. After researching, this seems to be a common problem and not covered by my extended warranty.
Bumper clips break easily resulting in bumper cover needing replacement. Seen on many Camrys.
I experienced a sudden unintended acceleration of my Camry as I was attempting to park the car on the third level of a parking garage. The car had been operating normally until I released my foot from the accelerator pedal to pull into the parking space. Suddenly the Camry started accelerating on its own. I applied the brakes, but the car did not slow down or stop. Since I did not want to crash into ongoing cars or go over the edge unto the street below, I chose to crash into the parking space. The car went over the abutment into the cinderblock wall. The airbags did not deploy. A gentleman tried to remove the car from the abutment but said the brakes were not working nor could he get the car to move. He was able to turn off the engine. Two hours later the tow truck operator could remove the car from its spot with the brakes working. The body shop confirmed that there was nothing wrong with the brakes or accelerator pedal. Corporate Toyota had an edr run. The manufacturer concluded: "after road testing your vehicle at various speeds, conducting acceleration and braking tests, we found no issues. " Toyota did not address the fact that the problem could have been in the software program that malfunctions intermittently. I feel that the car is dangerous since it gives no warning of an acceleration problem; therefore, I donated the car to an institution with the stipulation that it could not be driven on public roads. The car was under warranty at the time of the accident. And when I bought my car, I also had purchased the platinum vehicle service agreement that had a 0 deductible and an expiration of 75,000 miles. I thought we had lemon laws in place for these types of problems. Ultimately I have had to assume the financial burden caused by what is really a Toyota problem.
As I am driving I can hear a cracking noise coming from the sunroof they found it was a weld that had broken loose after some research I've realized that many other Toyota owners are having the same issue. Toyota does not see it as a defect which does not make sense if the weld they placed is not holding shouldn't they reweld it? well they won't and the noise gets louder and more consistent. They also made a part to fix this they called it a "sunroof silencer kit". Now they even told me they have to drop the headliner get to the weld and install a shim which will pretty much make the noise go away. They refused to do it under my extended warranty.
Request contact with investigators regarding air bag deployment failure following front end collision in 2012 Toyota Camry. Vehicle had passed recall service last year. My wife was struck in the left front and quarter area by negligent driver during a snowstorm on 1/23/2015. She was unable to apply brakes. The air bags did not deploy. So far, the primary appraisal is $4,600. 00 in damages to drivers door, left front panel, left wheel well and drive train, the entire front bumper, right front quarter panel, hood, and roof pillars. The tear down is in progress for supplemental appraisal. Air bags failed to deploy. After the accident, she called and I advised her to access winter survival kit. She said the engine ran and used the heat until the police arrived. When my wife stepped out of the car to meet the police, she slipped onto black ice and fell onto her lower back and pelvis. Her physician evaluation is currently in progress. The responsible party's insurance company and claim number is:nationwide 321-301 gb. My insurance company and claim number anpac 16a2vj879 I have provided a report to Toyota corporation and they said an inspector will be involved. That claim number Toyota 1501280816. Thank you.
Driver ran into rear end of truck with heavy duty trailer hitch. The frontend of the Camry sustained $5700 damage. The airbags did not deploy.
On 9/24/14, while traveling home from a neighborhood park, I was hit by a truck on the driver side. I was going down a slight hill and was going to turn right at the intersection. I'm not sure exactly what happened prior to impact but my turn signal was on, I was going to turn right and I was breaking. Suddenly, I heard this loud crash, when I looked to my left, I saw my driver's side mirror being pushed into my door, then I saw the truck. My car did not stop. I was going apprx 15 to 25 miles per hour maybe, and again I was traveling slightly downhill and would have been making a turn. I think my car was continuing to move forward in the seconds before impact. Once I was hit, my car continued to move, seemingly faster. At that point I was very much aware that my car was not stopping and the breaks were not working. Amazingly, I was able to navigate the corner (without being hit by anyone coming from the opposite direction) and turn the car into a parking lot (with no control of the breaks). In front of me in the parking lot, which is not a big lot, my car continued heading in the direction of a building there. I could not stop the car and was forced to put it into park, hoping that would stop the car. It did. However, the airbags did not deploy. The police were called, a ticket was issued to me stating that I drove without due care and caution. My insurance and Toyota hotline have been contacted. The process is just beginning and I will not know the full extent of the damages until the "black box" is inspected. This has been very upsetting and could have resulted in a much more serious outcome. I thought Toyota's acceleration problems had been dealt with.
When slowly going over a bump or unlevel ground, the body seems to flex and make loud noises. The noise comes from areas of the roof area extending from the moon roof to the rear of the car, and also from the passenger side rear of the car. It gives the sensation of broken welds.
Car had extremly poor quality in interior material. Rear bumper, rims and seat coming apart for a less 40k miles supension feel unsafe when un drive on highways vibration on the vehicule Toyota just said vehicule was design like that. Any professional report about that condition.
Pulling into a parking space, I pushed the break, and the car lunged forward. It accelerated, I pushed the break again, looking to make sure my foot was on the break. It was. The car drove over a parking space barrier and crashed into a fence, knocking down the fence, and ultimately stopping the car.
On 02-18-2014, I was driving on interstate 55 and the sunroof/moonroof on my 2012 Toyota Camry suddenly, and without apparent reason, imploded. Because I had the sunroof shade open, glass flew into the cabin of the car. Fortunately, although I could feel glass sticking in my forearm and palm, I was not cut and there were no other passengers in the car. Also, traffic was light and I did not crash as a result of it. When the glass broke, there was a loud noise that sounded like an explosion. The situation could have easily caused a major accident. I have searched in and around my car but have not found any object that could have caused this to happen. I believe that this is due to a defect in either the sunroof or the glass. Last April, Toyota had to adjust my sunroof because it was rattling. The repair included adding some shims to it. I was told that by the Toyota service department that the sunroof rattle was a common issue with this model car. I believe that the sunroof was defective.
My son was driving about 1/2 mile away from home while turning the brake failed and he hit the center curb and further to an on coming (stopped) vehicle. When he realized that the brakes are not working he pressed the emergency brakes that slowed the car. But the damage had already occurred. Our Toyota is 2012 and has been routinely maintained by Toyota dealerships. Brakes should not fail. We are glad that there was no apparent injury but the car is likely to be totaled. I request Toyota to do an investigation on what might have caused the brakes to fail.
Car totaled in severe accident after ownership of eight months. Airbags did not deploy. I was driving south on mcloughlin blvd in portland or and my Toyota was struck from behind by a Chrysler with such force that it hit several other cars (believe the police officer said 6. ).
While on freeway driver side tire burst all of sudden without any apparant reason. I ws in the second lane from right and could safely took car on the shoulder. Called Toyota road side assistance and towed the car to neraby delearship. They assesed damage to alloy wheel, tire sensor and ascender liner along with tire. For any warranty issued asked me to contact Toyota customer service. Toyota customer service directed to bridgetone tires saying its not their responsibility.
The paint is [xxx] on this car. It scratches, pits, and cracks with the slightest of forces. I feel like I got a lemon. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
When driving the sunroof area cracks and pops. It happens especially when going over bumps. There is also a tsb0151-13 issued.
I own a 2012 4cyl Camry xle. A knocking sound coming from the back of the roof on the passenger side happens when the body integrity is compromised, like when going over bumps or entering a home garage from the driveway. Brought the car to the Toyota dealer in December 2013 who refused to repair the problem because the car was out of warranty (the car had over 40,000 miles and the warranty coverage was up to 36,000 miles). They offered to repair the car for $486. 85 usd. Although two Toyota repair centers in puerto rico (Toyota service center in san lorenzo, pr and furiel Toyota auto), both acknowledged it was a problem other customers complained about and they know of. I searched online and there are forums discussing the same problem on 2012 Camry's with sunroof, so I understand it is a manufacturing issue for which Toyota should be responsible.

Persistent moderately loud knocking noise coming from the roof. As soon as you start driving, the knocking sound occurs, stops, and stops again. It is most persistent while driving over uneven street pavement.
