general problems of the 2012 Toyota Camry - part 2

I am the owner of a 2012 Toyota Camry. . . . On at least four occasions the motor has remained running after I left the car. . . . This car has push butten ignition. . . . Did I not turn if off proberly or is there a system malfunction. . . . I park my car in an attached garage to our house and the door to our house from the garage is left open in the summer for ventilation. . . . . If the car remained running unknown to us during the night we would perish from the carbon monoxide fumes. . . . I feel this is a safety issue that needs to be addressed by Toyota, if not only for us but other Toyota Camry owners. . . . So far Toyota has not addressed this issue to our satisfaction. . . . In fact the owner of the dealership where we purchased the car laughed at our safey concern. . . . . The alarm system on the car is useless as the alarm is the same when I start the car as when I stop the car and have the door open or if do not turn off the engine and get out of the car and close the door. . . . All these alarms sound the same and make them ineffective. . . . I have a hearing problem related to ear surgery replacing my bones of hearing by an implant in my right ear which also makes it hard for me to hear if the engine is running or turned off. . . . . The alarm system on this car needs to be modified to ensure notification to the driver if the engine is running be it human error or system malfunction. . . . .

The contact owns 2012 Toyota Camry. The contact stated that when she attempted to start the vehicle it would not start. The vehicle would only start with a jump start and then it was driven to the dealer. This failure occurred four times over a period of one year. The dealer diagnosed that the engine needed to be charged and was not being driven enough. The manufacturer was not notified of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 8,400.

This happens while driving at any speeds. I was driving at 20mph and needed to pick up speed to make a pass and the car just kept on reving and the speed did not increase at all and when it finally picked up speed, it was a hard jerk. It has been happening more often. Another incident at a yield sign heading into the highway. As I was entering the highway, I hit brake to slow down and had to gas up to get into the lane and the car just didn't move. I stepped on the gas pedal and the car didn't move. I already changed the torque converter within the warranty but the problem still exist. As of right now, the car is out of warranty.

We located Nov 16 2012 details and fwd to Toyota corp: Nov 16, 2012- at approximately 11:15pm on the 405s, all traffic was stopped by the police north of the skirball. We were standing still for about 10 minutes. Suddenly, our car lunged forward due to unintended acceleration. As the car veered to the right, I managed, with great effort, to steer the car as we went into the lane to the right of us. After traveling more than 100 feet, I was finally able to get the car to come to a stop. Thankfully, we did not hit and were not hit by passing police and fire vehicles. We also smelled something burning in our car for a couple of minutes. On November 17, 2012, we went into Toyota service to report what had occurred the night before. We wanted Toyota to know what had happened because it was very frightening and we were concerned about our safety. We also wanted to know how many other people had experienced this problem and how Toyota had resolved this dangerous, safety problem. Toyota service checked and responded that there was no recall for this unintended acceleration in the 2012 Camry. Unfortunately, we accepted that this was an isolated incident experienced only by us. The contact owns a 2012 Toyota Camry. The contact stated while driving at various mileages, the engine began losing power. The engine restarted after power loss but the failure continued to occur on numerous occasions. The vehicle was taken to a dealer. The technician diagnosed that the throttle control needed to be replaced. The failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 45,000.

Entering a driveway at 2mph the car accelerated to approximately 30mph and struck a brick wall. The air bags deployed causing injury and the car was totaled.

On acceleration the gas cuts out, lasting around 3 to 10 seconds. I cannot duplicate this condition, it just happens sporadically. It is very dangerous because the car behind me has no indication that I am in limbo and could easily rear-end me. This usually occurs when I am turning at a low speed, but has happened when driving straight.
