2 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 04/30/2022

I was stopped at a traffic light, on an uphill grade, for roughly thirty seconds when my 2016 Toyota Camry hybrid just started slowly accelerating. I looked down and my foot was still on the brake. The car then accelerated quickly. I turned into the left hand turn lane in order to avoid hitting the vehicle in front of me. The car then jumped the center divider and slam in the curb on the other side of the street before it stopped. At no time did I take my foot off the brake. There was only minor damage to the front bumper, but I destroyed two plants in the center divide. (I do not know, as of yet, if there was any damage to underneath of car. ) as I was less than two miles from home, I drove the vehicle home. The next business day I had the vehicle towed to the Toyota dealership in san juan capistrano, CA. I told them of the problem and they immediately notified corporate. Corporate took possession of the car and did not issue its report until June 1, 2022 (31 days after the incident).

3 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 01/31/2021

My Toyota Camry makes a scary noise that appears to be behind the dashboard right behind the air conditioner. It comes on and off. In addition, in 2018 the noise was accompanied by the whole dashboard signs red with a strong noise that appears something broke inside. Then, I immediately stopped and call Toyota and they ask me to take it to a dealership but didn't offer towing. That day, I drove to work and all appeared normal. The noise comes onces in a while and go away. I am not sure how serious this thing is and what to do next. Thank you for your helo on this. Solomon.

4 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 12/13/2018

Car violently shimmies when braking on an incline at 60-70mph.

5 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 09/29/2018

While in a parking lot in gridlock traffic leaving an event my 2016 Toyota Camry made a loud thump noise as if was releasing the brake. The car then literally made a sudden acceleration forward and it would not stop. Because it was gridlock in the parking lot the only way it was going to stop was to hit a person or another car. My Camry hit 2 cars and finally stopped. The car at the time was not in motion but in drive with the foot on the brake.

6 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 07/15/2018

On Sunday June 15, 2018, at approximately 10:15 am, I was traveling in the left lane, east on route 72 towards lbi, the black pick up truck in front of me lost his hitch. He did not have it securely attached to his vehicle. The hitch hit the road in front of me and began bouncing and was bouncing higher and higher and I had heavy traffic behind me and in the right lane as well. I had to time the bounce of his hitch so I could go over it. When I successfully did this the hitch made dents to the undercarriage of my vehicle and possibly caused other damages that I have not yet found. The black pick up trucks license plate number was NJ:h45hnj. I did not pursue the vehicle. I made my way to my work and filed report with my insurance company geico.

7 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 05/02/2018

Vehicle has 18k miles when this happened. I drove from work to grocery store. After leaving the store I stopped at a red light, the abs warning came on then check electrical charging system warning. I put the car in park, then I couldn't get it in gear again. I exited the vehicle to wave the cars behind me to go around because the flashers didn't work. After I got all the other cars past me, I called my husband to come and get me. He suggested that I try restarting the car again, with more pressure on the brakes. This time, it started and I moved it to a nearby parking lot. The next day, it was towed to the dealer. The dealer kept it overnight to run more tests, but they said that no failure was indicated. My husband got the charging system lights to come on, and he verified this with the dealer. The lease is up in in 4 months, but I won't drive it again. Toyota corporate was no help, saying no error message on computer means car is safe to drive. God help the next person who buys this car.

8 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2017

When ever you press the brakes make roaring sound when at speed of 60 or above on highway and sometimes misses the brake when you push it to stop. When you reverse or turn right or left different kind of noises comes from suspension and sounds like something is going to break.

9 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 06/06/2017

6/6/17, 7pm, on starting car; in mall parking lot, both the brake and power steering alert warning lights/msgs turned on and stayed on. Turned engine off/on several times; alerts still on. Checked brake fluid level and verified parking brake disengaged. Drove home, and garaged car. Started/stopped engine many times, till late at night, but alerts stayed lit. I flipped through all the alert messages, which showed 2 alerts, 1)brake alert and 2)power steering alert. Both alerts were present next morning. Per owner booklet, dealer wanted car towed in. Prepared for front wheel tow, by driving from garage to street by turning car to face street and driving back to driveway. After parking car, both the alert lights turned off. Mentioned this to dealer. Asked if I still wanted to bring car in, I said yes, I wanted it investigated. 6/8/17 dealer ran the diagnostic scan and found history code c1441. Reported as "abs performance decline and brake function". This can be caused by "brake pedal being pushed while move with engine off, or pushing brake pedal and gas pedals, concurrently. I know neither of these two happened. Dealer road tested car, found no recurrences of the problem and returned car. Back home, found that the 2015 Camry ,with code c1441, had a recall of the brake vacuum booster assembly (TSB-0010-15). Since the 2016 Camry is essentially the same car as the 2015 Camry, I thought it might apply to the 2016 model. Abs malfunction, with code c1441 is still being triggered, on the 2016 Camry, with the 2ar. . . Engine. For the 2016 Camry, found brake related problems still being reported, some with severe accidents, possibly related to the abs or computer . See NHTSA id 10991889, 10966112, 10934015, 10915061, 10903212, 10883921, and 10873023 as examples. Hope Toyota gets a chance to look into this safety defect, before a more serious accident.

With right foot on brake car was very slowly moving forward with plan to park car without hitting cement block. Car unexpectedly and abruptly accelerated to very fast but unknown speed. 12 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 06/18/2016

Car was purchased 3/16 with no problems until we went on vacation 6/16 with about a 1200 mi one way drive. Upon arrival we noticed that at long stoplights the brake was going to the floor. After having this happen several times the car would actually start moving with the pedal down on the floor. Pumping the brakes would bring the pressure back up, but the pedal would still creep to the floor on steady pressure. After a very scary ride home thru the mountains the car was taken to the dealer. Service mgr verified pedal problem and said that a Toyota rep would have to verify problem. It has been 2 weeks the rep has said that the car is in perfect shape. Both the dealer and Toyota refuse to do anything to fix it. Strange but Toyota has the exact problem listed in the owners manual as an item that needs to be fixed ASAP listed in 2 places.
